When the Cubs make it to the World Series Wayne needs to sing in the 1st game at wrigley. Not some stupid hypocrite pop culture singer. This is a real national anthem. Nothing changed in the tone and just a great voice singing it with loads of passion.
For those of you who don't know this, on this particular night, the anthem was NOT aired on television....but in the top 4th inning, there was a slight delay because "a cat" found his way on the field. I know all this, because I have this entire game on DVD, including that funny little incident. (WGN-TV). Cubs won the game that evening over the Cinc. Reds....7-2.
@luvthoseclips - Thanks for the very interesting factoid about this being in the fourth inning. What singer besides Wayne Messmer would they do that for? This clearly shows what he meant to the Cubs experience. He's tops, no doubt. I'm disappointed in this video, though, because it cuts off the word "brave" at the end, with which Wayne always topped off his rendition so beautifully (in fact, to my thinking it's one of the most distinctive features of his version).
Wayne's wonderful voice, & Gary Pressy's great talent at the organ: can that be topped by anyone? I don't think so, I'd give them both a "perfect 10"!
