I don't give a fuck what anyone says Beastie Boys are the shit, they've been rocking the same style since the early 80's and haven't changed their style to adapt and still are selling out tours and doing stadiums!!! Big ups to Mike D, Ad Rock and M.C. A!!! Word Up!!!
CLASSIC ..... funny / they were actually Boo's as they were comin' onstage .... lol .... And that was one of the BEST TRACKS from the movie !!! GUESS THAT'S WHY " SHE'S ON IT " IS LOADED ON MY PAGE FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE ....
@anonymousent I think the boo's are because their music sounded too comical and white. Hip Hoppers didn't take to it very well then, but the Beasties earned respect by showing how dope their rapping really is in later albums. Gotta start somehwere.
Jimmy jones, you don't have to forget about that. If you look at album sales the beasties own every group you have named, and I love all those groups by the way, including new editions part right before the beasties.
You have to remember that the Beastie Boys had just gotten signed to Def Jam at the time Krush Groove came out. Besides, being that their debut Licensed to Ill released a year after this movie, at least one showcase act in the film had to agree to be booed at.
Actually the film campy as it is was a suedo bio film about the start of the label and many of these performers. The Beasties did their switch to hip hop at a time where white kids didn't listen to hip hop. License to Ill, Ice Ice Baby, Can't Touch this, and the Chronic are what got white kids really commonly listening to hip hop. In '85 I knew white kids that thought rap was str8 stupid iin 5th grade. By End of 6th everybody was bangwagon for Beastie Boys
this was on the krushgroove soundtrack which i found on cassette in a bargain bin in like 89 or 90 but i bought it just for this track. And Fat Boys "All you can eat...." God this movie sucks, but I love it. I love how Russell Simmons got Blair Underwood to play him hahahahahah
@aslan5050 Russell didnt want ANYONE playing him! This was Blair Underwoods first movie! He wasnt a star yet. The reason Russell wasnt allowed to play himself was because the producers thought the love interest between Russell/Sheila E/ wouldnt look realistic. Which made Russell FURIOUS because he had a huge reputation of dating the top models in NYC.

the beasties were one of the few rap artists willing to self-deprecate.

@romski4u WTF are you talking about??? They change their style pretty much every album. That's how they've been able to stay relevant for 25 years.

Back in the 80's we had our own style, own music. I miss it!

Kidding aside, it's fun to watch the beginning of the Beastie's Hip Hop rebirth (since they started out as a punk rock band).

The Beastie's were with Def Jam before the movie. Their single "Rock Hard" was the second single from Def Jam in '84.
