I highly doubt it's about physical abuse specifically. Sounds more like a more subtle, but consistent issue of emotional abuse/neglect.

So yes technically it isn't about new moon. but in the fanpires defense, this does describe Bella's feelings in New Moon. It isn't about New Moon, or Bella's feelings in that book. She couldn't possibly have read the book and then decide to write this but it really can relate to New Moon. So cool it. No big deal
