This video was awesome. It stumpled on this when I was researching this short story for a Lit Classs and I could just about follow the story line by the action the characters portrayed. I had thought about not writing about this short story but this video inspired me too... Great video
This is amazing! You really captured the idea that she was trying to convey in such a short film. Great job! I just read this in my english class, and find it to be a truly fascinating story, and love the multiple interpretations of it. My english teacher recognizes Ellie Oscar as a hermaphrodite with the female first name and male last name. Suggesting that he isn't any competition to Arnold, because he doesn't need her to reproduce. Weird but interesting. Great job though! Really enjoyed it!
im writing an essay on this short story and it was my favorite too its just so intense i couldnt stop reading it lol!! great job btw! your girlfriend is really good as connie :)
I've chosen this story for a critical essay in my WRI 121 class. While I was researching I stumbled across this video. You all did such a wonderful job with it! It being a dream of Connie's is yet another interpretation I didn't think of until now. I would like to reference this video in my essay if that's alright with you.
Good job! We watched the story in english class too and we watched this film that went along with it and you guys did a FAR better job at acting and editing than the people in the real film.
Amazing Job! Im in 9th grade, and we had just read this peice, and it surprised me to know Arnold was the devil and Connie just is a cinfused teen who does not know her place in life. We had also read The Premonition and Poor Bibi, also by Oates. I love her work. I dont know when you read "Where are you going, Where have you been" but you acted it just as Id imagine it. Good Job!!
I just read this for my Intro to Fiction class, and you guys did a really good adaptation for it. I just sent an e-mail to my prof., about this video, I think he'll like it, too!
No, I haven't contacted her. Maybe I should just to see what she thinks of it. I hope she enjoys it. You know how I can reach her?
Thanks for the compliments. Me and my girl worked really hard on it. Plus, this story has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now. I think I wanna do more adaptations.
Joyce Carol Oates teaches writing and literature at both Rutgers University (New Jersey) and SUNY/Stony Brook @Southampton College on Long Island. I know because I have studied many of her works. I think she would probably be interested in viewing your interpretation of her work. It's worth a shot....Good luck! You are truly talented, and i think you should continue doing more adaptations. An interesting author similar to Ms. Oates is A.M. Homes. Give her a shot - she's a good read.
OMG! that was aswome, great story plot! great acting! that was cool...wow never seen any one make a movie like that! if u ever make another movie like that make shure to send it to me ;)
Great vid, though its not exactly like the story... But what I don't get is how he's the devil...? I mean, okay, obviously he's a bad scary perv, but you know the shoe part? How he's not actually tall abnd is embarrassed by it? And the fact that he can't keep up with the lingo? Well al;l of those things are flaws in Connie's eyes,
and if he was actually the devil, I think that she wouldnt be able to recognize his flaws.. But besides that, I think that the devil comparison is good because he plays on her fears and all..
PS Your girlfriends really pretty.. (uh, dont worry, im a straight girl)
you have to add up the numbers in the story and they add up to 333, his steps in his boots like an animal, like hooves. his last name, ifyou take out the r is fiend.
Okay, seriously. Besides the wordiness of the door segment, the music and tonality of the words stuck out the most. It gets creepy, like if that were to happen to me I'd have just closed the door [but then I'd wonder what is this guy doing since I can't see him now]. I say great job!
P.S.: A-Ja, A-Ja...Ja...A-Ja. AAAAAAAA-JA JA JA A-JA.
THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LIKE dude I hope you guys get picked up by a movie studio or somthing cause one you would make a good director and two you girlfriend Is very very talented I loved it going to my faves
I just sat still in silence, wondering what would happen next when i watched it. You looked very handsome, playing this bad guy! and I think u both did a great work/acting together as a couple :)Interesting and a worth - watching, (a little bit) exciting movie. Would LOVE to see more of this sort of movies :) best wishes/ eve
Thank you. We both appreciate it. This story was taken by my textbook "The story and its writer." It's over 1300 pages long. We may pick another story to do. Maybe. We'll let you know. :)
i totally second morphine's comment. this vid is great. the right concepts to keep you gripping each scene with a highly interpretive intensity. rofl..."hey." "..?" "you're cute." your character is pretty fuckin' sinister throughout; it's awesome.
In 10:10 I like how you can see angel wings behind Arnold Friend which to me represents how the devil was once an angel himself.

Great acting lady and gents.
never heard of the story but it is very creepy.
i don't quite get it, is the bad guy Death? or just a bad guy stalker who forces her to make a choice? either way,
Well made Video.

You would have to read the story to understand.
I've read it several times I always conclude that this man who came up to her doorstep was the devil.
