Het geluid dat je hoort bij Ode to Joy is de pure natuurlijke sound van de Suzuki SCX-64, daar ben ikzelf ook mee begonnen destijds, later ontdekte ik dat je net zo goed een SCX-56 kunt kopen, is handzamer, goedkoper en je kunt er praktisch alles op spelen.
Dat geldt ook voor de Suzuki SC, je kunt beter een SC-56, dus 14 gaats, kopen dan een SC-64, met een SC-56 ben je ook nog goedkoper uit en op de SC-56 kun je ook alles spelen, ik heb dit zelf pas later ontdekt.
Ik speel iedere dag minimaal 1 uur, ben gepensioneerd leraar en heb er voldoende tijd voor.
Denk je er aan dat iedere chromatische mondharmonica MOET worden voorverwarmd voodat je gaat spelen, anders slaan de koude reeds in de harmonica dicht van je warme adem en komt er geen fatsoenlijke noot meer uit!
Kan helaas geen verzoeknummers spelen, ik krijg 10 verzoeknummers per dag Bram en ik heb eeb eigen planning, sorry hoor !!
Voor het voorverwarmen heb ik een elektrisch kussentje gekocht met een schakelaar met 3 standen, zijn niet duur, kun je kopen in een zaak waar ze witgoed verkopen, ik heb hem bij de Harense Smid gekocht, zet hem niet in stand 3 dan wordt de mondharmonica te warm en gaan de reeds stuk !!!!!!
Als ik jou was zou ik als beginner met de SCX-56 beginnen, heb je een geweldig instrument, de reeds zijn sterk, dat is belangrijk en het mondstuk is goed.

Wat leuk dat je die mondharmonica van je oma kreeg, probeer een eenvoudig liedje wat je in je hoofd hebt te spelen, zoek naar de juiste klanken, het is echt een kwestie van lange adem, geduld en veel oefenen, je kunt ook op internet een website zoeken met als titel: How to play the harmonica.
Omdat hij 24 gaats is heb je een diatonische mondharmonica, ik speel chromatisch, is anders
Je vindt het misschien raar dat ik je het volgende voorstel: probeer een eenvoudig liedje te spelen zoals: altijd is kortjakje ziek of het wilhelmus, niet te snel opgeven en tevreden zijn met wat je kunt, maar er vooral van genieten, luister ook heel goed of je de juiste noten speel, kwestie van volhouden en oefenen en nog eens oefenen, dat geldt trouwens voor het bespelen van alle instrumenten, maar probeer er altijd de aardigheid in te houden.
Wow that was really good, though i just got a harmonica, and i want to play blues, the box says its a tremelo harmonica and its a 24 double holed tremelo harmonica. Can i play blues on this? Where can i learn? What harmonica should i buy to play blues?

Ryan: for playing the Blues it's better to buy a diatonic "Lee Oskar" bluesharp, you can buy Lee Oskar bluesharps in every musicstore, these bluesharps are very cheap!!
If you want to learn to play the blues on your bluesharp: go to the internet (for example Google) and search for "How to play the bluesharp", then you will find a lot of websites !!

I always warm up my chromatics with an electric pillow heater, there is a switch with 3 positions on it, it's very cheap to buy, warm your chromatic up in position 1, otherwise your chromatic is getting to warm, that's not good for the reeds in your chromatic, I wish you a lot of succes at playing your wonderful instrument !!

I bought this Suzuki chromatic harmonica SC-64 at Harry's trading in The Netherlands.
I live in Holland you know, these harps are magnificent, they have a very good airtightness and the mouthpiece is sliding very good between the lips, all these things are very important !!!
I play on the SC-56 - 14 holes - too, both types are very expensive, because it are professional models.

nice video! but I have a question. I am considering on buying one of the suzuki chromatic scx. I like the size of the 56 but I was wondering if its more limiting on what kind of classical music i can play compared to the 64. thanks.

The Suzuki's scx are a very good choice, a very natural sound, a good airtightness of the mouthpiece and a very good sliding mouthpiece between the lips, very important.
The choice between 56 or 64 is very personal, if you buy the 56 you have less lower notes and you have more higher notes you will never play, if you choose the 64 you have more lower notes and less higher, with 64 notes you can play all music.
If you have a Suzuki scx-64 you have 4 full octaves, you can play any song with it in any key you want, that's not always possible with the SCX-56, because you don't have the most lowest notes in your first octave on the left side, so you have to play the song in a higher octave, it's possible, but I don't know if you like that, that's very personal you know.
By the way: the scx-64 is more expensive as the scx-56, that can be a reason tochoose for the scx-56 for some people.
If you can afford it in a financiel way buy a Suzuki SC-56 or SC-64, they are much more expensive, but the airtightness is much better and the mouthpieces too, the blowing and drawing are not heavy because of the wonderful airtightness of the mouthpiece !!!!
The SC's are the most wonderful chromatic Suzuki chromatic harmonica's, to be honest: I started with the SCX-64 too, but I didn't know at that time the SC was much better.
You always have to warm up the chromatic before playing, otherwise the cold reeds will stick of your warm breath and you can't play any note anymore, I use an electric pillow with a switch in 3 positions, it isn't expensive at all.
I wish you a lot of succes at making the right choice and a lot of succes at making your wonderful harmonica music just as I try to do.

So sorry, the brand "Parrot", is unknown to me, I never heard of it, I can recommand you to buy a Suzuki chromatic Harmonica, the Suzuki's have a wonderful natural sound, the mouthpieces are sliding very good between the lips and the airtightness (VERY IMPORTANT) is very good.
I prefer to play the chromatic harmonica with 16 holes, you have 4 octaves, so you can play all the notes you can get.
To play an instrument is always: practice, practice and practice again.
Yes, I know what kind of instrument you mean: it's called an ocarina, it has a wonderful sound, it's a windinstrument, it looks like a recorder, but much smaller, an ocarina isn't so large as a recorder.

Dank voor je complimenten, Ode to Yoy was 1 van de eerst geuploade songs zonder begeleidende achtergrondmuziek.
Ik speel nu 3 jaar chromatische mondharmonica.
De Suzuki SCX-64 is een perfekte chromatische mondharmonica, een goed glijdend mondstuk en de luchtdichtheid is redelijk, dit is wel erg belangrijk.
De Suzuki SC-56 en SC-64 hebben een betere luchtdichtheid en een nog beter mondstuk, is erg belangrijk, maar zijn veel duurder.

Beste Bram,
Het geluid dat je hoort bij Ode to Joy is de pure natuurlijke sound van de Suzuki SCX-64, daar ben ikzelf ook mee begonnen destijds, later ontdekte ik dat je net zo goed een SCX-56 kunt kopen, is handzamer, goedkoper en je kunt er praktisch alles op spelen.
Dat geldt ook voor de Suzuki SC, je kunt beter een SC-56, dus 14 gaats, kopen dan een SC-64, met een SC-56 ben je ook nog goedkoper uit en op de SC-56 kun je ook alles spelen, ik heb dit zelf pas later ontdekt.

Beste Bram,
Ik speel iedere dag minimaal 1 uur, ben gepensioneerd leraar en heb er voldoende tijd voor.
Denk je er aan dat iedere chromatische mondharmonica MOET worden voorverwarmd voodat je gaat spelen, anders slaan de koude reeds in de harmonica dicht van je warme adem en komt er geen fatsoenlijke noot meer uit!
Kan helaas geen verzoeknummers spelen, ik krijg 10 verzoeknummers per dag Bram en ik heb eeb eigen planning, sorry hoor !!

Hallo Bram,
Voor het voorverwarmen heb ik een elektrisch kussentje gekocht met een schakelaar met 3 standen, zijn niet duur, kun je kopen in een zaak waar ze witgoed verkopen, ik heb hem bij de Harense Smid gekocht, zet hem niet in stand 3 dan wordt de mondharmonica te warm en gaan de reeds stuk !!!!!!
Als ik jou was zou ik als beginner met de SCX-56 beginnen, heb je een geweldig instrument, de reeds zijn sterk, dat is belangrijk en het mondstuk is goed.

Wat leuk dat je die mondharmonica van je oma kreeg, probeer een eenvoudig liedje wat je in je hoofd hebt te spelen, zoek naar de juiste klanken, het is echt een kwestie van lange adem, geduld en veel oefenen, je kunt ook op internet een website zoeken met als titel: How to play the harmonica.
Omdat hij 24 gaats is heb je een diatonische mondharmonica, ik speel chromatisch, is anders

Je vindt het misschien raar dat ik je het volgende voorstel: probeer een eenvoudig liedje te spelen zoals: altijd is kortjakje ziek of het wilhelmus, niet te snel opgeven en tevreden zijn met wat je kunt, maar er vooral van genieten, luister ook heel goed of je de juiste noten speel, kwestie van volhouden en oefenen en nog eens oefenen, dat geldt trouwens voor het bespelen van alle instrumenten, maar probeer er altijd de aardigheid in te houden.

Just for your information:
I always warm up my chromatics with an electric pillow heater, there is a switch with 3 positions on it, it's very cheap to buy, warm your chromatic up in position 1, otherwise your chromatic is getting to warm, that's not good for the reeds in your chromatic, I wish you a lot of succes at playing your wonderful instrument !!

I bought this Suzuki chromatic harmonica SC-64 at Harry's trading in The Netherlands.
I live in Holland you know, these harps are magnificent, they have a very good airtightness and the mouthpiece is sliding very good between the lips, all these things are very important !!!
I play on the SC-56 - 14 holes - too, both types are very expensive, because it are professional models.

nice video! but I have a question. I am considering on buying one of the suzuki chromatic scx. I like the size of the 56 but I was wondering if its more limiting on what kind of classical music i can play compared to the 64. thanks.

The Suzuki's scx are a very good choice, a very natural sound, a good airtightness of the mouthpiece and a very good sliding mouthpiece between the lips, very important.
The choice between 56 or 64 is very personal, if you buy the 56 you have less lower notes and you have more higher notes you will never play, if you choose the 64 you have more lower notes and less higher, with 64 notes you can play all music.

If you have a Suzuki scx-64 you have 4 full octaves, you can play any song with it in any key you want, that's not always possible with the SCX-56, because you don't have the most lowest notes in your first octave on the left side, so you have to play the song in a higher octave, it's possible, but I don't know if you like that, that's very personal you know.
By the way: the scx-64 is more expensive as the scx-56, that can be a reason tochoose for the scx-56 for some people.

Hello,
If you can afford it in a financiel way buy a Suzuki SC-56 or SC-64, they are much more expensive, but the airtightness is much better and the mouthpieces too, the blowing and drawing are not heavy because of the wonderful airtightness of the mouthpiece !!!!
The SC's are the most wonderful chromatic Suzuki chromatic harmonica's, to be honest: I started with the SCX-64 too, but I didn't know at that time the SC was much better.

One and last advice:

Hello Eric,
So sorry, the brand "Parrot", is unknown to me, I never heard of it, I can recommand you to buy a Suzuki chromatic Harmonica, the Suzuki's have a wonderful natural sound, the mouthpieces are sliding very good between the lips and the airtightness (VERY IMPORTANT) is very good.
I prefer to play the chromatic harmonica with 16 holes, you have 4 octaves, so you can play all the notes you can get.
To play an instrument is always: practice, practice and practice again.

Yes, I know what kind of instrument you mean: it's called an ocarina, it has a wonderful sound, it's a windinstrument, it looks like a recorder, but much smaller, an ocarina isn't so large as a recorder.

My advice to you is: buy a diatonic harmonica and try to play an easy song which is in your head, when you can play the diatonic harmonica you can try to play a chromatic harmonica, just as I do now.

Thank you so much for accepting our friendship, we are honoured and grateful for that. I have 2 children, 1 son "Johan" 28 years old, married with "Bianca", they have 1 daughter "Britt" 1 and a half year old.
My daughter "Esther" is married too with "Johan", our second Johan, they have a son "Lucas" 8 months old, we are very happy with them all and Mayka and I love it to make music together.

Es ist mir klar dass du die Nordsee vermisst, die weite schoene See, mit den Duenen und die grosse Moewen.
Entschuldigung fuer meine deutsche Sprache, ich arbeitete vor 30 Jahren bei einer Firma fuer Krankenhasueinrichtungen in Muenchen, Sterilisationsanlagen u.s.w., verstehst du. Wir hatten in der Niederlande eine Niederlassung, ich arbeitete im Verkaufsabteilung im Buero. Habe eine sehr schoene Zeit gehabt mit allen Kollegen in Muenchen, ich vergesse dass niemals!

How do we make our music:
At first we choose a song together, than Mayka and I both started to practice for playing the song.
Mayka makes a recording on her keyboard, we put the recording on my laptop and I try to play along with it in the right tempo, and so on, that's the way it goes!!
