The King looks like a bald version of King Rupert II. I can also tell that he's not voiced by Jim Hensen... at least, it doesn't sound like Jim Hensen is voicing him. Also, Featherstone's here, too, and he looks different as well.
Actually this special was filmed in 1968, but then was aired in '69' after sesame street started and because of this( and the fact that most of the crew that worked on the special later worked on sesame street) publicity dogged on Jim Henson for advertising this special with Kermit.
At first, after looking at the two step-sisters, I'm deadly thought that the dog is the cinderella since I don't realize there's a person behind the mountain of dishes..
How I laugh like a bazooka when I thought that the cinderella is a dog (at first)!! LOL
I think I'm going to cry. This was the very first ever rented movie I've ever watched on my family's first teac VCR. We watched it repeatedly. Oh how time seems to be on fast forward.
My father worked for RJR foods at the time this came out. He was a brand manager for Hawaiian Punch. Splurge was used in promotions for Hawaiian Punch, and therefore he got to go out on promos with Splurge. I got to meet him, and Splurge mentioned to me that I could use his tooth to replace the one I had lost! My dad also had to appear on the local Romper Room TV show with splurge and Miss Sandy as well. I was only 6 then...
Productions like Frog Prince & Hey Cinderella are sort of both in that they both have humanized Muppets (The King and Featherstone, for instance), but yet, are merely Muppetverse interpretations of classic fairytales. As well, the only things dubbed officially as Creatures are those things done by The Creature Shop for other franchises (ex: Yoda for Star Wars and the Turtles and Splinter for TMNT) or Henson prouctions like Dinosaurs, Labryinth, Dark Crystal, etc.
I can't even begin telling you how I have searched and searched for this!!! I'll never forget the Muppet version of "Cocomo" at the beginning! Thank you!
I remember that version too, aidelade27. It's my favorite version. :) It always brings back memories for me. I love this movie. I love how Featherstone has all the answers but the King takes all the credit. Typical dictator, lol. :D

It would be nice if "Hey Cinderella" coming to DVD soon.

@Rubberman202 It is Jim Henson muppeteering the king. If you notice he sounds kind of like Rowlf here.

@MakiLotus You're right. After listening to him more, it does sound more like Jim Hensen, particularly Rowlf's voice.

@Rubberman202 It's actually spelled Henson with an O. I'm sorry about fixing your typo but it was kind of bugging me.

I actually have that series. :)
But I've been thinking of how much potential "Beauty and the ^Muppet Beast" would have...
LaDracul 3 years ago
LaDracul: Sweetums would've made a brilliant Beast if The Muppets did do a version of that beloved French tale.
TherealRNO 3 years ago
Exactly!!! I think all we were left with was a dance interpretation on the Leslie Ann Warren episode...but that had Doglion.
LaDracul 3 years ago
LaDracul: Yeah. I wonder what other fairy tale The Muppets could've done (not counting obsecure ones, as The Storyteller did that).
