In the past I used to provide voiceboxes and lights for people who owned these costumes. The mike was put inside the helmet.

the marching is not scary... is just to make a cool scene... but is out of character... The Cybermen are supposed to be cybernetic zombies, not robots. the beauty of stories like moonbase is that the Cybermen are soo creepy and sneaky that they were entering the base for a long time without the crew knowing. Now try that with RTD's Cyberrobotocops. the definitive ones are the one from the 60s.

Heh, agreed on principal, but in Army of Ghosts in the new season they did kind of do an infiltration theme again in Torchwood, possibly as a nod to Moonbase or Wheel in Space.

As for the marching and catch phrases... they just cheapen the image of Cybermen to me.

Nothing against Murray. But we NEED MUSIC like the original cyber theme. His theme is good too, but doesn't OOZE creepyness like Tomb's music (and voices frankly). THe original Cyber theme has got to be THE most memorable music of the classic series.

Nice work. Love the original, but it's amazing how you've made the 'new' cybermen creepier in this than in their tv appearances.. Black and white, slowed down, original more inhuman voices, shrouded in mist.. Especially found the appearance of Lumic to be much more powerful than in the new series.. Enjoyed it, thank you.

Because it's a kids children's programme and children like to imitate things.

And presumably because of the enormous success of the first monster catchphrase 'Exterminate' which showed this was a great hook. Even the Cybermen in the 80s had 'Excellent' as a catchphrase, so it's nothing new.

The original Cybermen were very crudely done and I would love to see the BBC update a lot of the old series material with a fresh coat of paint like this...maybe a few specials once in a while. Alas, the BBC has always shown a lack of imagination for things of this nature.

It's one of my favourites too, and it was one of the first stories I saw back in 2000 when I got hooked. Had forgotten about Doctor Who since I saw it as a kid and re-discovered it in a DVD shop one day in 2000. Havent bothered with other sci-fi since, as there really is no match to this awesome tv-format.

Oh yeah, they did - "You belong to us - YOU WILL BE LIKE US" kind of tells you that, no? They've always been the machine-race who thinks they own you and have put it on themselves to take you out of your emotional misery and hell by converting you.

Quite well put together, you can even recognize the scenes the from which the updated Cybermen are edited in from...but to be loyal to the original storyline, I dunno, I don't think it needs any embellishment, it's a classic story and one of the few really classic Dr Who's to survive from the 1960s... Mindrobber, ever thought of doing a revisit to the last episode of The Evil of the Daleks ... now that would be quite a challenge.

I happen to like the whole series and view them all as one whole series. The series stopped for a short time after Mc Coy passed the torch to Mc Gann but, Mc Gann and Roberts did reprise their roles in a radio drama The Time War. Then there were cartoons like Shada & the Scream of the Shalka.

Come on, the only decent villians they had back then were the daleks. They've said, spoofing themselves, Patrick Thorton's nemises were all tinfoil. But, the trashy bit was fun to watch as a kid.

That was really good. I used to try something similar with my VCR's long ago, replacing old effects shots with flasher ones stolen from other shows and movies, then edited back into the original scenes. Yours works really well =).
