have you edited your film together yet?i think if you took the best parts of your film and sent them out you'd be able to land some distribution but you wanna make sure if you're getting others to help you out they understand your film first.

I don't think editing has even really begun yet. It sounds like they are still working out filming and everything still so there isn't anything to edit yet.

By the sounds of it they are still in the early stages of pre-production. They still need to work out a budget, set up their locations, organize the story elements, actors, etc.

The producer(s) set up filming schedules, make sure they have the actors, locations, and props are all there on the right day at the right time. They also arrive on set and organize the shots and keep the actors focused. They wouldn't be asking for a producer if the film was already shot.
