Alot of you guys making comments about this band haven't even stood up close to them practising or tuning up, and I don't mean tuning up on the day of a competition.They're just awesome all the time. The drum corps are probably the best emsemble drum corp in the world.
I hate to say it, but Simon Fraser is the best drum corps in the world. Dont get me wrong, I love FMM, but the judges sheets dont lie when it comes to the best drum corps being SFU.
This is the same Medley that FMM plays at the 2007 World's. Is this common for a pipe band to present the same selection of tunes throughout the years? Thanks for any information.
Grade 1 bands have to play 2 sets and 2 medleys through each season. Usually the band will bring in one new set and one new medley, and keep one of each from the year before, so there is not totally new music each year. One Set and/or one medley always ends up being the better of the two and at the Worlds, only one medley submission is required, so the favourite is then submitted. Which could be then the same medley two years in a row.
I spent 25 years with Cape Town Highlanders Drums & Pipes, the last 2 as Pipe Major. Been to the Worlds twice and 2 Edinburgh Tattoos as well. This is beyond awesome. I've listened to this at least 30 times and can find no fault at all. It's beyond belief.
Victoria are great. Saw them at 1998 World's when they won. Just a small comment. You may want to consider a name change. Small children do look in here from time to time.
These guys are the best on the plant. Richard Parkes is the best Pipe Major,bar none,just just to his chanter sound and pipe corps overall. The only sound I have ever heard to compete with this was the Victoria Police, under P/M Nat Spoule Russell. Master Blasters CD.
Do you have their MSR from this contest? They played "The Royal Scottish Pipers Society" as their march and I'd really love to hear it.
