An English born of Jamaican/Guyanese parentage this was all we had, but loved it all the same. This stuff was not regularly played on the radio. If it weren't for the Skinhead movement might never have heard it all!

hope you are fine and well, in the states. good luck. i remember them too. havent seen the place in 20 years . i keep meaning to go back and have a look. i will one day. some memories there ha ha. all is well
shame this over shadowed talented orphan guy gave so much in his music..........glad to of seen him give a great live performance ................... still had his beret
this takes me back to railton road, in the 70s and 80s used to patrol there. great times. used to hate this music, but after i loaned some tapes off a guy who would talk to me ha ha ha. i listened to some of it and i actually liked it. not all of it but some of it was ok. i love this song though. fuck me, we had some times there, not many of the lads used to like being posted to brixton, but i loved it. happy days. couldnt understand a fucking word in the early days, take it easy ok, all is well
while im here on one of your records clanccy i asked once on your channel about if there is any other tracks with the riddim from Derrick Morgan judge dread in court thanks
And secondly ... You call me a mosher why? Because I like Red Hot Chili Peppers? Wow, you're so stereotypical. I listen to all music, but Jamaican music is my life. You want to take this further and I could wipe the floor with you when talking about Jamaican history. You know nothing. And This Is England 86 is a very poor show, which is extremely inaccurate. If you want to know about the influence of Jamaican music, go read a book, or better...go listen to original Jamaican Ska!

haha. I said This is England 86 is shit. Not the record. Desmond Dekker is the reason Im a songwriter. Desmond Dekker is the king of Ska, and a true Jamaican legend. If it werent for Desmond, the Rocksteady chart invasion would never of existed. Desmond Dekker is one of the most influencial Jamaican artists that ever graced this planet. And as for 'It Mek' , possible one of the greatest Jamaican anthem ever recorded. And you call me a mosher gal? Firstly, Im a guy,
Oh, now this really brings back memories of my teenage years in Jamaica and the music was great...Desmond was the best!!!!! Who can sit when you hear early Reggae and Rock Steady music, you can't help but jump up and dance!
@blfchanner1958 Thanks! but still not much the wiser - "pop u bitter gall"? "Bitter gall" is a biblical expression apparently, but is that reading too much into it? "Pop" I kinda get, eg Althea & Donna: "No pop no style/I strictly roots". Whatever, I see you have a good channel, subbed if you don't mind)
@howardbastard No. Marley watered down his sound for the world. Dekker kept the sound from Jamaica. Comparing Marley to Dekker is like comparing Vanilla Ice to 50 Cent.
@howardbastard Well considering Dekker and Marley are under the same genre, your analogy doesn't really hold up. Marley is more modern and he started the whole Dub thing, which I really think is terrible. I like Marley but he is rated under Dekker, Toots, and Jimmy Cliff for me. I just don't like all these people whole are influenced by Marley and make Hip Hop Reggae Techno Mess, and talk about drugs and money, when real Ska and Reggae was about the Rude boys where none of that mattered.
