One little thing: As an ASL student, I prefer vlogs without captioning. I'd put opaque tape or something over them, but your captions are large and cover your signing. If you caption again, maybe move them lower in the frame?

Your mom might have confused it with the idiom "don't look a gift horse in the mouth," which means if someone gives you a horse for free, checking it's teeth to see how healthy it is would be rude. It's a free horse, just take it and say thank you. So if I give you a give, don't check the price tag or say "I prefer a different kind." Just say thank you and appreciate the gift.
