D.T. wan an absolute beast on the field, and he was an awesome person too. I just don't get why with him setting a record why he is not a little higher on the list. He achieved in 11 years what most will not accomplish in their entire career. We miss you D.T.
The only player that was a better pass rusher than DT was Reggie White IMO. In a 3 year span from 1986 to 1988 White had 57 sacks! R.I.P. to both Reggie and DT... :(
Even L.T. said D.T. was the best pure pass rusher EVER. He has the top 3 single game totals:7,6,6. Thats 19 sacks in just 3 games. #10.....PLEASE! # 1 easy.
Between what Derrick did on the field and in the Kansas City community he was truly one of the greatest players with one of the biggest hearts to ever play the game. His Third and Long foundation is still helping fight illiteracy in young people. Even in death his spirit lives on every day. R.I.P. Derrick, you were the best :)

Not taking anything away from DT he was a great player but if you ever saw LT play you would understand why he's the best linebacker of all time. Honestly DT might not even make the top 10. I am a huge Steelers fan. Derrick Thomas is one of my all time favorite players. Loved how he played the game, thought highly of him and enjoyed his efforts. Its a shame he never had a chance to play with a franchise QB that could have gotten him a ring.
He was far better in that Raiders game than he was in the Hawks game. The game was literally over in the 1st 5 min. of that game due to DT wreaking havoc on evry play....
DT was a peerless speed rusher with great open-field ability,pursuing with quickness &explosion. He had great acceleration around the corner and changed directions smoothly. In his early years, he was even more effective at Arrowhead using turf & crowd noise to blow past tackles before they were set. Wherever he played,he would dip in on backside pursuit & knock the ball loose from QB. In his twilight, he was still a forward gear player much too athletic for a tackle to handle without help.
Did LT get 7 sacks in one game and 6 in another, when he could of had way more? No, did Derrick Thomas? Yes.
If Thomas would still be alive today, he would be known as the greatest pass rushing linebacker of all time. Think if he played with the 03' Chiefs. That would have been a Super Bowl.
You want to know the greatest stat DT had? He had one FF ever 4 games he played in.
