  • Great work! Reminded me of the NuBSG style.

  • wow

  • How did you do the dust in after effects?

  • I hate shaky-cam.

  • This How I imagined the ORIGINAL Enterprise in the 2009 movie

  • TUTORIAL!!!

  • Awesome, JJ should have hired you for ST 2009........

  • "Captains Log, Stardate 4211.7. We have been pulled into what is being called "The JJ-verse". Many of the crew have reported migraines from overpowered light sources and motion sickness from uneven camera movement. I maintain through all of this that I am still the most awesome person who ever lived."

  • We could use your assistance on a fan film we are working on I really like your approach.

  • Nicely done.

  • Reminds me of Battlestar Galactica

  • I gotta say that this looks better than any of the CGI effects that were put on the re-mastered Original series. They should've hired you instead. LOL

  • That's really pretty sweet. Makes the old girl look a little more like a real ship.

  • Incredible.

  • God. That's really good. Faved and thumbs up. I don't usually comment on Trek redo clips there are so many of them. But your work is exceptional. Maybe it helps that we're both Blenderheads. But this is pretty insanely great! I watched it over and over. I love the big clouds on Earth.

  • This is gorgeous!!!!

  • Fun stuff.

  • Beauty !!!

  • wow. this is insanely good. i hope you're around when they "remaster" TNG and the other shows.

  • Unbelievable beauty. Wow. I thought it was a model at first but boy this was incredible.

  • Amazing, at first I thought it was a model. Great work.

  • I thought the last 5 seconds were great!

  • Absolutely beautiful.

Are you watching CBS Digital? ;)

  • that is incredible this would rival pretty much all the ST shows in effect quality and mixing in the BSG style effects worked so well. love it, incredible work please do more :D

  • If you don't mind me asking: How did you do the zooms ? Was that render time effect (camera setting) or post effect? It looks very natural, and THAT is something I can't quite replicate this well....How exactly did you do it?

  • @jimp1102 The zooms were done in Blender, as if I did an actual zoom with the "camera's" focal length. Since Blender doesn't apply motion blur to zoom moves when it renders out, I added motion blur with a third-party plugin in After Effects.

  • At first I thought it was a physical model on strings and thought "What crap this is"- then I realised it was CG (Yeah, I didn't read the comments- my bad) then thought "Wow, this is a great looking shot!" The beginning camera zoom in gives it a Battlestar Galactica feel to it- really, really great work.

  • beatiful

  • This is fantastic!

Im actually hoping to make something similar to this for a Uni project. do you think i could have the blend file for this so i can play about with it? it is incredible.

  • A-a-awe-s-s- some, i mean seriously you have a gift there. Id love to build a time machine and send you back to when the first series had just piloted and watch americans cry in their living rooms at special effects they just couldnt comprehend

  • @MonStructeur You seriously just made my week :)

Thank you so much for your support!

  • The rendering of the 1701 is so good that it looks like a physical model is being used in the shot.

    Amazing work.

  • The rendering of the 1701 is so good that it looks like a physical model is being used in the shot.

  • @bubbahotep68 He (sorry I'm assuming it's a 'he') did something here that I find lacking even in the remastered TOS...he gave the TOS Connie a sense of real weight and mass during the flyby. Very nice.

  • @kranktank Yep, I'm a 'he!' I tried to animate the Enterprise in a non-aerodynamic sense, because in space nothing really 'flies,' stuff just gets pushed around via propulsion. So I added a very subtle camera move that fudges the movement just enough to make it look like it's floating on a path rather than sweeping in like a jet.

    Thanks :)

  • @momoflakes yep nothing needs to be all swoopy and perfect...if that's what you meant...you gave the camera some shake that is subtle enough to not be annoying like in Firefly but strong enough to make your brain think it's seeing something heavy flying by. again, nice work.

  • I love the smudges!

  • "Camera" shakes too much. And there seems to be smudges on the "lens"

Steady the camera and clean up the lens and youve got something awesome here,

  • @ReverendSyn It's supposed to be like that in order to be more realistic( like someone in a space suit filming the Enterprise passing him )

  • @StelarCF Exactly what I was going for!

  • I hate to say, this is much better then J J's redesigned Enterprise. More to the origanal.

  • wow thats bloody good, looks a bit like a toy at the start but looks really quite good.

  • fantastic...well done, on all counts.

  • Awesome!

  • Awesome!

  • Awesome!

  • The original ship with a nuance of Bad Robot. Good Job.

  • Constitution Class > Sovereign Class.

  • holy hot damn that was awesome

  • Very sweet!

  • Now I just wish we saw something like this with the 2009 Enterprise

  • @DoomTay Good luck with that, all the pseudo intellectuals went with the ugly design because they think they know better than everyone else..

  • The model is realistic enough that at first I thought you used a model with greenscreen.

  • Brilliant, very realistic look, personally not a fan of camera shake to make effects look more real but anyway

  • did you make that in blender 3D?

  • Ship looks lovely but uhm, in the future they will have tripods.

  • WOW, just WOW. Amazing work on the background and the light.

  • WOW! Very nice! :) I see some Battlestar Galactica influence in the camera work too. :)

  • It's one of the best animations I've ever seen! I sub to you!

  • wow! fantastic work!

  • Outstanding !!!!

  • That shot is - dare I say it - so sexy it hurts.

A stunning job! If you don't work in the visual effects industry already then you should. Bloody brilliant!

  • This is BEYOND amazing.

  • Very cool. I would make the zoom back more smooth though.

  • beautiful!

  • Awesome video.

I could learn a thing or 2 from you, lol.

  • totaly cool man

  • good!

  • Incredible!

  • WOW, that looked REALLY good!

  • how did you add the little specs of dust when the sun shines into the lens? It looks awesome.

  • Looking at the applications he used, it was probably in Adobe After Effects, using a layer that was close to being transparent over the footage.

  • Yep, the dust was added in Adobe After Effects. I had to make up a technique because I couldn't find how to *add* dust anywhere! I think I'll make a tutorial video on how to do it in full; but in short, it's a black and white map of painted "smudgies" with lens blur effect, set to "Color Dodge."

  • That would be awesome, I so want to know how to do this, would help make accurate XI recreations, b/c they added this type of effect to the visual effects shots to make them look more real.
