Rock critic Lester Bangs wrote the best piece on Lennon's death ("Telling the Truth about John Lennon") in his book "Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung". He never believed in a conspiracy because he lived in New York and new how death could be a bad fluke in that city. Like many of you, I can only imagine what he would be doing today. We should not be throwing out these theories and creating more obscurity (it never works).

I actually think Reagan was involved. But Geffen did benefit from Lennon's death. Album sales skyrocketed. Most billionaires are heavily invested somewhere down the line in the military industrial complex, and Lennon was hated by those billionaires. He actually had the political power to sway huge numbers against a politician or war. No superstar exists today with that power. Geffen is not responsible for the murder. But one can at least consider it. Who benfitted most if not his label?
