  • Wow. I've never even heard of this until just now. It looks so much like Chuck Jones's style but not quite. There's definitely no mistaking June Foray though.

  • To those people who are nitpicking about Miss Hapzibah face looking to human to be a skunk first these are all humanized cartoon animals( is there a porcupine that looks exactly like Porky!?) And secondly If you look at Kelly"s strips Hapzibahs nose gets smaller and her face more feminine and pretty with a blond like hairdo so Marilyn Monroe just seems like a natural fit! There was also a cat called Simple J. Malarkey whose face looked just like Senater Joe McCarthy so is that too human like?!

  • @jonhayashi1 THANK YOU! I did a video of women that look like Miss H when I had my other account need to post that back up in the near future.

  • @Hyman74Roth I looked at Walt Kelly's Pogo book entitled "We have met the enemy and he is us!" and the only difference I see in Chuck Jones' design of Miss Hapzibah and Kelly's is Jones' design has longer eyelashes! June Foray's performance as both Pogo and Hapzibah is great and I love that Chuck Jones posed animation! Also Chuck Jones voice was just like his Porky Pine voice performance! Great!

  • @jonhayashi1 To me besides Rapunzel and Jessica Rabbit, I think Miss Mam'selle Hepzibah is the sexiest cartoon character that no one has heard of:( I have watched many cartoons and I have never heard June Foray do a sexy accent like that before and that just caught me off guard, so the autograph I got from Miss Foray I will cherish more fondly. Just let you know I said that comment that has all the thumbs up when I was drcoxcentral.

  • Chuck Jones as Porky Pine.

One of my heroes doing the voice of one of my favorite characters - how often does that come up?

  • @1:10 i get hoots from girls all the time too. dammit i love my girlfriend. she laughs when girls check me.

  • @ 3:31 The catus got a stiffy any way if she didn't pour the water.

  • Was pogo a comic book?

  • I swear at 3:15 Porky said "F***!" =O

  • her face really is to human.

  • To be kinda critical, I do not like the motel of anthros(those that look more human then animal) look to human for me like in Rock & Rule, and The two goofy movies, and the chipettes. I think the girl's Skunk's head looked to human to believe she is a skunk.

  • Anyone that propagates Pogo (Walt Kelly) with an honest heart is OK by me.

  • Was Marylin Monroe was the inspiration for the skunkette? she looks like her. Monroe was a 50's and early 60's icon you know.

  • @Johnlindsey289 I think so, do a picture comparison of the two and it would be evident.

  • I can understand why Chuck Jones drew Mam'zelle - Kelly usually drew her face with no outlines, which works in the comic strip, but would be kind of a pain to animate.

  • Was Miss Mam'selle Hapzibah intended to be a male version of Peppy Le Pew of vice versa?

  • @doobiesmoke15 You'd think right? But I heard Miss Hephzibah was based on Walt Kelly's mistress, whom he had at the time he was drawing his comics. Being truly in love with her instead of his first wife, he eventually divorced and married her. Besides being peed about the design change from his original work, maybe having Hapizah with a human face was hitting too close to home for ol Walt eh?.

  • And loudly love his cactus HAHAHA

  • DYK Time: Did You Know that Walt Kelly was pissed off at Chuck Jones for making one of his characters (Miz Mam'selle Hepzibah) look more human? Who could blame him? If anyone changed any of my characters, I'd go irate as well.

  • @TCgamerboy2002 Yeah....but I think its an improvement, but that's just me!

  • @TCgamerboy2002 Oh, are you a cartoonist too?

  • @ThePlunginater No, but if I was, I wouldn't hire someone who would butcher characters' appearances.

  • .... I love Pogo characters. I really do. But do people REALLY need to think Hapzibah is sexy? Those comments are creepy ..... cuz she's a skunk .... with a face way too human ....

  • @YumRelish Uh, yeah, but that's just me and I am not in any means a furry person either. So that's saying alot.

  • Jeez, look at that female body shape there!

  • Mmmm! (Stands up and body parts falls apart)

  • when Miz Mam'selle Hepzibah was laughing becuz of the cactus by Porkypine, you have to admit to feel bad for him when he feels embarassed about it. I'm sad for him.

  • Porcy Pione in an engenius character. Ma' masell has some incredibly well written lines. Why the hell does this even exist? It is brilliant.

  • Oooh lla la, that Skunkette is smokin' hot, i would hit that too.

  • i cant understand what the girl is saying

  • 2:43 priceless. I love this video XD lmao and wow what a way to make a girl look anthro and beautiful

  • TELL ME ABOUT IT!

  • She's even got nice tits.

  • @Johnlindsey289 She sure does!

  • @NonRtarded talk about a sexy furry from the 60's gigigi giggady!

  • *looks at skunk* I'd hit that XD pogo is pretty awesome

  • God tell me about it and I'm not a furry person either!

  • "Toing?! He look more like a 'zing' man!"

    Holy crap, that was GENIUS.

  • Is that my imagination or is that female skunk suppose to resemble Zsa Zsa Gabor...who inturn is Hungarian

  • Yes.

  • looks like the same creator of how the grinch stole christmas.

  • It is. He even does the voice of the porcupine.

  • Chuck Jones voiced the porcupine? Huh, he didn't do a bad job! Especially when he stubbed his toe.

  • And when he was rehearsing the poem or plucking cactus needles: "She loves me, she loves me not, she loves me - OW! 'She loves me ow'? Don't make sense." "Though the day be arbor day the night be Kalamazoo. 'Kalamazoo'? Don't seem to scan." Those are among my favorite scenes!

  • Chuck Jones was a bit of a poet.

  • This looks kinda Chuck Jones.

  • I absolutely love the Pogo comic books. I read them when I was a kid, and I still love them. <3

Albert was always my favorite. But I agree with what Latifkyo said in an earlier comment: I always imagined Albert to have a deep cajun accent.

  • Pogo was always my favorite, I have a soft spot for kind-hearted selfless characters.

  • If only this special had the bats... Well lucky is still got Albert

  • I'm a huge fan of Pogo's comics and of Walt Kelly's works (my God loke at the Disney's Pinocchio, you can see that he was there!). I also like the Jones cartoons, so this special is really special for me!

Oh, and Albert is awesome as always!

  • I wonder if someone posted on YouTube the 1980 claymation "I Go Pogo" movie?

  • "Toing? He look like more of a ZING man."

  • Albert is 10 tons of awesome. I always figured he would have a deep cajun accent.

  • Walt Kelly and Chuck Jones are two of my heroes, but it's amazing what a lift June Foray's great classic voice (as Mam'selle and Pogo) gives this.

The held cel of Pogo seen at 0:58 resides happily on my wall.

  • Miss Mam'selle Hapzibah is really sexy! My favorite parts are on 00:33-1:09 and 2:26-2:59!

  • Yeah those moments are the highlights of the special in my opinion, at 2:26 - 2:59 she looks like a skunk version of Marilyn Monroe. As Austin Powers would say, "Oh groovy, baby!" "Yeah, baby, yeah!

  • Mam'selle Hepzibah is dead sexy for a skunk no wonder Pogo is sweating.

  • bone is inspired by pogo cool huh?

  • It's kind of funny when you consider that they are both voiced by June Foray.

  • Yeah this is my opinion, even though I like June's voice of Pogo I rather picture Daws Butler doing the voice maybe because I rather picture Pogo with a Huckleberry Hound voice.

  • Why does Pogo sound like it was done by a girl's voice?

This was long before the Bart Simpson voiced by a girl situation (also used for most cartoons).

  • well the voice of Pogo was actually June Foray, she also voiced the Miss Hephzibah..... she's been in the business for over 90 years XD

  • @drcoxcentral True.....but she sounds like Granny from the Looney Tunes.

Did the thought sink in? ........Yeah, I'm an asshole. :P

  • You're absolutely right, man. I guess it came from a comic strip, but, that's so long ago. I guess miss the good old days, man. Great vid.

  • Awesome stuff. Chuck Jones delivers the goods. It feels like the old Pogo comic strip.
