Like 2 something months ago i left yarn braids in for like 6months straight and yes it was matted (I know how to easily remove matted sections) but the length retention was unbelievable but i wouldn't recommend that if u don't know what u are doing.
Im not trying to be funny but I've been rocking with Ateyaaa for about 4 years and her hair used to be a lot more healthy. I feel the sew ins have really taken away from the health of her hair.

yes its called low or no manipulation. When you limit what you do to your hair you will notice longer thicker hair. Alot of people do it, Keep up the great work hun! Glad you found a break through with your hair :)
I have the same length hair as yours and I just got my bangs cut recently, but when I do my hair on my own I can never get it to look silky or have body..do you have any suggestions?

@ReiReimodel the thing is, I use to do that my junior year in high school and it ended up breaking off in spots...I usually have my hair in a sew in or braids, cuz its hot in Az...I do hairstyles that will last a minimum of three weeks, so it just ends up being that I wash my hair 1-2 times a month

@ReiReimodel When I have a sew in I randomly spray a leave in conditioner on my hair...besides oil sheen, I really dont use anything else. I actually do a deep condition, then shampoo my hair, then do another deep conditioning and then spray it w/ leave in conditioner 4 all hair textures. When I wear a wrap, I'll do a hot oil treatment. Ive been transitioning from relaxed 2 natural 4 about 2 yrs now...so Im doing research 2 see whats best 4 my hair now

With all due respect, Ateyaaa is funny and does a great job of showing people what she does, but her hair is thin. All of the processing she does to her hair is not good for it. What looks healthy is really just beautified damage. Anybody can have body with the use of wrapping with silicone products (CHI products), but it takes real skill to grow long, THICK, healthy hair. Lay off the heat ladies, it's the devil. Rollersets are the best way because of the indirect heat, no flatirons!
@caramelkiss829 rollersets are way better than, blow drying, flat ironing, AND THEN curling. i agree. and with rollersets, you also get WAY more body.

My hair is in the honeycomb braid around my head, I use moisture spray daily before I put on and after I take of my wig, I sleep in a stain bonnet. In order for your follicles to be at its best, it needs oxygen and need to be free from excess build up. the reason why people with dreaded hair grows if because for one they enquire less manipulation and two its a lot of shed hair in between to give it the effect. and its a pretty ignorant statement to say that people with dreads have dirty hair.

I also believe if you ignore you hair (dont mess with it a lot) that it grows. I have been corn rolling my hair, with two braids on each side going straight down, and then Ill braid the rest straight back. I put on a wig cap and wear one of my lace fronts on top. I do that for two weeks, then Ill wash and deep condition my hair and repeat the same process. I have not had a relaxer since October, and Im trying to see how long I can hold out and how long it grows out.

LOW MANIPULATION WORKS!!! Ladies Ateyaa is Spot On, the less you handle your hair the better. That is why I am loving all these wigs. My hair is in the honeycomb braid around my head, I use moisture spray daily before I put on and after I take of my wig, I sleep in a stain bonnet. I hardly ever touch it , and its growing growing growing and I love it!!

4:08 that is true. Brown folks hair responds us not doing a lot to it. The people with dreds have such long hair because they let it go, never comb it and they massage it regular.

Dirty hair DOES NOTTTT grrow hair. In order for your follicles to be at its best, it needs oxygen and need to be free from excess build up. the reason why people with dreaded hair grows if because for one they enquire less manipulation and two its a lot of shed hair in between to give it the effect. and its a pretty ignorant statement to say that people with dreads have dirty hair.

I think ateyaa said in a recent vid that she stopped using the aphogee once her hair was back to a healthy state and started using the nugro for the length and thickness.

I just started to do the same thing.. ignoring my hair.. i use to wash it once a week .. so i was like im going to start washing every two weeks because I got tired of washing it every week.. and low and behold.. my hair started getting healthier.. omg... and plus when I get braids.. my hair grows like a flower.. so yeah that philosphy works on me too.. love ya teya!!!

I also believe if you ignore you hair (dont mess with it a lot) that it grows. I have been corn rolling my hair, with two braids on each side going straight down, and then Ill braid the rest straight back. I put on a wig cap and wear one of my lace fronts on top. I do that for two weeks, then Ill wash and deep condition my hair and repeat the same process. I have not had a relaxer since October, and Im trying to see how long I can hold out and how long it grows out.

ur hair is look'n lovely as always. to me it is true if u dont wash it all the time or putting any kind of heat on it will grow out.i havent had a perm in a yeah now and my hair has grown out alot heathier. i keep it sewn in and now i taking a break from it. i always had trouble of the bac of my hair but now its grown all out. but yeah if u was it less and keep the heat off u will see difference.
