Jacare Souza is one of the very few elite BJJ practitioners who actually takes people down by using effective Jodo techniques. He does not have to resort to "Pulling Guard". I think he is what i call complete BJJ player. He maybe the most complete BJJ practitioner out there. Complete in the sense that he has the Judo to compliment his BJJ because as you know, all fights start standing up.
Now is this like an osoto gari but you use your hand instead, to reap the leg? In other words, you push with your right hand (collar grip) drive in nd shoot like a double and pick the knee?
@RightWingCon81 its similar to a technique called kuchiki taoshi (i say similar because ive never had a judo class, and therefore cant say with credibility that it is) where you do exactly that. its one of my favorite techniques :)
@RightWingCon81 Not at all. O-soto gari has totally different principles. The word "gari" describes the motion of a reaping-hook while harvesting rice, as you can see, there is no such motion used in this case. As iloveasiangirls says, the technique resembles kuchiki taioshi technique and morote gari - but is both cases simpler - in kuchiki t., opponent's foot is picked up by your foot, than held by hand, than the push back, morote gari is double leg takedown, this is a variation of both.
