  • Hi Glen Great video - very informative !

I was wondering if you could recommend any other herbs / supplements that are good for repairing the colon and over all gut health. Ive watched your other video about mixing psyllium husks with slippery elm. Im curious if you could recommend anything else as magical as Slippery Elm ??

Also, does it decrease nutrient absorption ?

    Thanks so much !

  • @SterlingBorden: I actually just finished a five-day juice fast|colon cleanse using Blessed Herbs' product. It was difficult but it did work quite well. I would recommend that to you. Slippery Elm is more of an accompanying herb versus a standalone herb for colon cleansing. Slippery elm doesn't interfere with nutrient absorption. It's perfectly safe.

  • does it act a little like a laxative then?

  • @xxlLsSharon: No, it doesn't. If it were combined with psyllium husks (or seeds), then it would appear that it would but it would be the psyllium husks and not the slippery elm.

  • thanks for posting this, I am only 36 but have IBS and diverticulitosis I was given alot of antibiotic as a child now my colon is messed up I have heard this works. I looking forward to try it.

  • @353bp3z3: It's very soothing to the stomach and entire intestinal tract. Let me know how it goes.

  • I started taking the capsules, same ones you have listed, over a month ago for gastritis symptoms and it has worked well. Could not find any local sources for the bulk loose powder though, though it's available online. I did try it by removing the powder from the capsules and mixing in some warm water, swallowed it that way and don't really mind the taste which comes very close to oatmeal'ish.

It seems there is little info on how long to take it and dosage, I'm just going by the bottle.

  • @mode101wpb: Thanks for the post. Slippery elm is really safe. It's a food albeit a powerful food. That said, "moderation in all things" is always a wise precaution. I've personally had awesome results for stomach problems with just four to six capsules. Don't worry about taking a bunch. I used to pop the capsules literally about two to three times a day taking four to six at a time. Never had even the slightest problem. Hope this helps. If you need more clarification, email me.

  • This shit is good for stomach problems, just took 4 pills and chewed them with water.

If you just swallow the pill I don't think it works as fast.

It stops all my gas within 30 min and it feels like there is no problem whatsoever.

  • @MTHKITEBOARDS: Thanks for the post. See, I told ya! :)

You must have the chewable form of slippery elm. I've never tried that. Trust me, the capsulized version is potent and superb too. It's probably the best way to take it internally.

  • We used this in Grenada

  • @tradingphotos: I hope you liked it.

  • I cant found no wear Slippery Elm in powder.

  • @2011Queenn: You can find it in health food stores or online. Just do a Google search for it and you'll find it.

  • @truthgladiator Hi, i went in health food stores, they sell now only powder, that all.

  • @2011Queenn: you have 2 options, make your own capsules or buy capsules from an online retailer. Capsules are available online. Hope this helps.

  • Cool :)

  • When I say "the wrong place" I meant the acid travels back up your windpipe/throat.

  • Proton pump inhibitor - the proton pump secretes the acid for digestion. Too much or more specifically in the wrong place causes reflux & heartburn.

  • hi there, will this helps to heal gastritis? Suffering for pain & tightness 24 hours except sleeping for 3 months with no help from PPI, only getting worse from drugs (I think?). Would like to ask how long it takes for you to cure/heal your stomach ulcer from taking this slippery elm? Powder or Capsules is more beneficial for stomach? Thanks~

  • @yenhun9290: You might also want to think about cayenne pepper. Cayenne will actually (and paradoxically) heal an ulcer and re-build stomach tissue. Not sure what PPI is an acronym for. Drugs could make it worse. Yes, it will help w/ gastritis. I will NOT and can not diagnose or prescribe as I'm not a doctor so take anything I say as educationally only as that is how it's meant. What's your diet like?

  • Saturnpluto12345: I don't know much about chia seeds, unfortunately.

  • Just bought it for a cough I haven't been able to get rid of

  • @SereneandPeaceful: Have you tried honey? Honey helps rid people of coughs.

  • I love slippery elm as well. I have a daughter who has problems with bowel movements. One way I like to get the slippery elm into her is to mix it with honey (looks like peanutbutter) to a thick paste and put it on crackers. The kids love it. For added fiber include some flax seed.

  • dontfencemein1979: Great points. Yes, flax seed is superb as fiber as it balloons up and helps expel extra fecal matter. I've never tried combining slippery elm with honey but it sounds interesting. If kids love it, then that is a good clue that it works well. Thanks for sharing that idea!

  • Hello Glen ...My name is Justin- I enjoyed your video - Informative - Do you have any experience / knowledge re Chrons Disease ? I suffer from this ailment , and ive read some literature on Slippery Elms medicinal effects in treating this affliction . I tried wax coated capsules(For deep release in colon) containing SElm years ago with success - Im considering a Slippery Elm Enema , as my inflammation is located towards the very end near the tailpipe ! Do you have any thoughts or information ?

  • Justin: My sincere sympathies for your condition. First, I have to say I am NOT a doctor and any info here is just that educational information. I cannot diagnose or prescribe anything as it's illegal to do so. Slippery elm is very, very soothing for the intestinal tract. Eat lots of fiber-rich foods like vegetables. Burdock root is good. Comfrey too as a tea although you should be very, very careful w/ it. See a master herbalist. A cayenne pepper enema might help over a slippery elm enema.

  • I found it soothing to be taken with warm chamomile tea. I hope it still works this way. Another thing I'm using is pine nut oil for gastritis/ulcer. Well thanks for the info. The Slippery elm tastes good too, like brown sugar.

  • Taking it in any manner is valuable, I think. Your combining it with chamomile tea should not harm its effectiveness at all.

  • thx. i bought it and used it in tea 4 times already. my question is, can you tell me the steps that you used to heal your daughters ulcer. and how you determined it was ulcer and not for example gastritis. Possibly was it found from a ct scan?

  • Actually, it was my ulcer. I don't have any children. You use it in a tea? You don't need to make it in a tea. Taking it in pill form will give you its healing effects. That's how I take it. Good point about gastritis versus an ulcer. It was an ulcer. I've had a couple in my life as I tend to be a worry wart. I had blood and constant ulcerative symptoms. With the last one, I didn't see a doctor but the one before that (2001), the doctor took x-rays and confirmed it. Slippery elm works with both.

  • Sir, How can I obtain the slippery elm herb. I've been in pain from ulcer or gastritis and believe it can help.

  • No need to call me sir, my friend! You can get it at good health food stores. If you can't find it at a good local health food store, look online. Type "slippery elm" in Google or Yahoo and you should be able to find it somewhere then. I did that and found a bottle of it for $6.50 at Amazon and one place sells it for $3.49 per bottle. Hope this helps.

  • @ryanmse30 try a raw potato with skin for ulcers

  • Will this do good for my IBS symptoms sir? I have looked to adding it to the Ginger and Cayenne, I might add one more herb and think Slippery Elm might be it.

  • No need to call me sir, I assure you! First, I'm not a doctor and would never (and have never) diagnosed or prescribed anything for it's illegal here in the U.S. to do so. Slippery elm is very popular as a soothing herb. It's wonderful for its healing properties to either external or internal "wounds". If you have IBS, talk to your doctor. I suspect he/she will advise you to eat as much fiber-rich foods as you can handle, i.e., vegetables, fruits, grains, etc. and he/she would be right.

  • Cool.

  • @truthgladiator yep, there are too many people consuming slippery elm, and very few planting them, so the seeds go to the forests so my grandchildren will have natural medicines as well.

  • You are right actually. The word is out about slippery elm and more and more people are using it now. The trees do need to be preserved.

  • I know slippery elm is Amy Lee's secret for having a powerful voice.

  • That's interesting! How do you know that?

  • she admitted in an interview before, so to all singers right there, slippery elm tea were good for singers. I think there are more singers that uses it and I just forgot their names.

  • Thanks for sharing it. I'm going to post info on that to my Web site. I appreciate your passing that on.

  • Is that the one from Nature's Way brand for the capsules? It says It contains Gelatin (Capsule), Magnesium Stearate.....and they come in 370 mg capsules?

I just started learning about this herb and saw it in Riteaid, so I was wondering if that's the same one you have.

Which one you think is better? Powder or capsules?

  • Yeah thats it, I looked at it yesterday at the store.

  • Looks like coolhealthsecrets is no longer up? I have a couple questions. Do you use it with psyllium husks or psyllium seeds? Aren't the husks just the husks of the seeds? Just wondering because we have the husks. I was also wondering if you have a demo like your cayenne pepper on how to use it and how often, etc. I know you said you prefer it in capsule form. Thanks so much for these videos and responding to my q's.

  • Thank you Sir for your helpful videos. Keep posting please...

  • I believe you emailed me but I lost or deleted it. My apologies. I empathize with your situation. I have no health insurance either. I have an idea of what to recommend to you but can't as I'm not a doctor and to give medical advice such as you're asking is strictly prohibited by our govt. I can point you, though, in the right direction. Call Master Herbalist David Christopher, M-F, 1-2 MDT at 1-800-372-8255. He should be able to help you or point you in the right direction. God bless.
