Overall nice performance, however, at 7:40 the high climax of that phrase was missed, but did a good job recovering from it. I doubt the audience noticed even though I almost spilled my coffee.
Maybe on a 'super supported' american organ with heaps of pistons it doesn't, but that instrument doesn't even have a foot sequencer for the poor set of four free kombinations it has. So I'd like to see you playing it by yourself only, keeping the registration rather appropriate for this French romantic piece.
Page turners and registration helpers don't actually 'play' the music, do they? Does it really matter how many of them are there? One should listen to the music not look how many people stand by the console.
Maybe a comment on the interpretation of the piece? Immagine there's only audio with no video ;-)
agree with you. excellent execution! great registrations and interpretation of this VERY difficult piece. i'd only like to see you have some bells and whistles - like pistons - only to see your technique better. but, bottom line, it's all about moving the listener with the sound! good job!
And really, brilliantly played. Between this an Durufle's Toccata there's some of the most difficult feats of musicianship in the world, and nobody would know what it was if spunky young organists didn't try to take it on (which you've done brilliantly).
2 against 3 in pedals vs. hands......BRAVO I want to do it!! BUT...I can't. These guys that have commented on your playing in not such a nice way, don't let them get to you. Widor IS dead and I'm sure he's just pleased his music has made it this far....
Widor's VI/1 is like a train wreck waiting to happen, and the whole point is to keep the train from de-railing -- that is, to maintain control and you, young performer, kept the train on track and steered it safely into the depot. Don't worry about following rules slavishly. Widor's dead. He'd also be forgotten if brave souls didn't try and make music from his sometimes bewildering notes.

What's with the mixed articulation? Widor was VERY BIG on Legato. Everything was Legato... It's switches in this recording. Are those mixtures I hear? Or am I hearing things. I hope you're not using mixtures
Does your copy of the score contain something mine doesn't? What is "staccato - legato il basso" mean? Absolute legato isn't possible with the notes in the score unless you have 6 or 7 fingers on each hand. Widor could hide behind many seconds of reverb at St. Sulpice - watch D. Roth play it there - you can see staccato in his hands even when not indicated by Widor. And since when are the mixtures located somewhere other than on the chest with the reeds? Anches d'orgue includes mixtures.
Are you talking around the 3rd page or so. If so, I would keep the lower voice as legato as possible, which isn't very hard, and the upper voice staccato.
This is beautiful. Love to see the kids learning to play 'the king of instruments'. With more videos like this on the net, the whole world will be exposed to the pipeorgan. but I sure wish that girl would get the hell out of the way so we can see.
Très bon!!

Sounds pretty darn good. The girl blocked the view of your feet. How about recording it again, so we can see your feet this time.

Were the two extra people there to help change gears, musically speaking, of course? The organ player seems to be in pain?

Sweetie Baby,
Tell us where this organ is, who built it, and who's playing it...!
It's clearly a world-class acoustic, and this kid can certainly play the organ!
