I was (still am) going a stage of isolation and confusion when I watched the movie for the first time. I deeply connected with the movie, how each day there are those 'brief moments', for some unexpected reason, life becomes meaningful and I want to dance and take in all the joy I was feeling. Then. Then the struggle to feel good about life would resume. I see this movie as a struggle.

This was a great overview and presentation of the movie as a summarized version; especially outlining the interaction between George and Colin (which so makes this a favorite movie personally, I'd consider).
Ironic that three major characters are English, and all play Americans. The one American, Julianne, who is fabulous in this film, plays a London lady.
I love Colin Firth and for him to act as a gay guy makes me a wee bit disappointed but the fact that it portrays the deep innocent love between two men shows how great of an actor he is. It makes me love Colin even more great, just great
@fatizoo1000 ...oh your homophobic, i though you actually had a valid reason, maybe saw some flaws in his acting or something. Im sure Colin weeps at night for his loss while holding his NUMEROUS awards.
@JACrissGyal Look! He souldn't make those gay scenes... and I'm not homophobic... you have a real fuck face.... you tell everyonehomophobic for hating gays or what???
@fatizoo1000 lol, look sweety I can see from your last comment your clearly not the most educated of people but the definition of homophobic is having a negative attitude towards any non-heterosexual orientation. I noticed some of my vocab may be a bit complicated for you so if you see any big boy words that confuse you please feel free to message me and ill try to help you sound them out, ok buddy.
Julianne Moore deserves about 10 times the recognition she gets. In the dinner/drinks scene at her house, she gives you a complete understanding of her life-past and present- with just a few minutes screen time. An incredible talent.
I loved this film so much...it moved me deeply....but what about the comment to.notice the little things in life like something someone said to you.....the smell on the back of someones neck? er wtf?
0:49 i loved that scene! the way he looks at the gun, as if imagining ending it all, and then looks up at the girl, and realizes that there are still things to live for. and of course the way she blinks her eyes in slow motion. this was the most beautiful movie i have ever seen. i wish everyone still dressed like that. what a time to live in. oh it is all so beautiful! today everyone just wears jeans and a teeshirt. where is the beauty in the world now? only in movies that showcase the past.
@bobish14 Hmm I'm afraid the gun wasn't loaded yet, he was looking for something else. A moment later after that scene, he buys bullets in a gun shop.
To be honest, it is not the most exciting film in the world. It is fairly slow paced.
However, it is a beautiful film and the acting is magnificent. You realise the love between Colin Firth's character and his husband in the last scene.
colin's face is amazing, such a handsome man and he just keeps getting better looking with age, wonderful film, great cast, loved it, bravo to tom ford and everyone involved
