I love Rome Total War because it's during the classical era but I prefer Medieval II because it's more balanced and it's around 1500 AD and you start with militia and then you will be able to get gunpowder

i just fought this amazing battle with Macedon. Even though i lost and my general had fled, my royal pikes fought on. They were the last units and they fought off 5 other spartan units but eventually had to flee. There were 31 left. Reminds me of 300. They killed 262 units by themselves! your opponent made a single mistake, but it was a fatal one. Cataphracts are perhaps the best counter cavalry, especially against other armored cavalries like Companions, Praetorian and Gold Brand. Cataphracts are slower than the others due to their extra heavy armor, but their mace attack completely destroys other cavalries. so using them offensively to chase archers or whatever is futile, any other cavalry is better at it. he tried to use them offensively and got burned. game over.
@whosajigaya He has no choice over his opponent's army. The only choice he can make that will slightly relate the battle to an Alexander-type would be by choosing Macedon to fight with, which he almost always does.

The only decision that cannot be possibly altered unless the host doesn't permit it is by choosing a certain faction, for Prince it's usually Macedon. After that, when the battle begins, he has no way to fight the battle in the way Alexander the Great did, because his opponent will be making decisions at the same time.

YOU can make decisions as well forcing your opponent to counter those decision , or you can ignore their moves completely and press on with your own plans
@whosajigaya Alright, let's do a hypothetical battle then. I have 4 Silver Shield Pikes. My opponent has 4 Royal Pikes. I have one Companion and Greek Cavalry and he has one Companion. My plan is to engage the Royal Pikemen with my Silver Shields, attack the enemy Companion with my cavalry, then strike the rear of the Royal Pikes to obtain victory. When I go for his Companion, he moves to his other flank and gets a Royal Pike in the way. There. Now if I try to attack the Companion, my cavalry
@whosajigaya (continued) will hit the Royal Pike and die. Now I have to make a new plan. See? In warfare no plan will work out. You always have to alter it because you can never know for certain what your enemy's moves will be, you can only assume them.

@spectraldistortion Medieval 2 is better balanced, and it has more realistic movements. But I prefer RTW for diversity and because of my huge interest in Ancient Warfare. But if you just want superior gaming, then I suggest Napoleon Total War.
@spectraldistortion funny thing is that sowrds in the middle ages didn't cut. They were used to bludgeon the enemy knight to death. It's rather difficult to cut someone in chainmail, or platemail.
nay, swords were still primarily used for cutting, a long sword can go through chainmail if used correctly and also, not all soldiers were mail/plate clad most wore leather armor, they couldn't afford a knight's armor.
long swords, such as the hand and the half highlander swords were made to counter armor, they were used to pierce the armor or bludgeon it like you said, the pommel could be used for that, also, they developed a new technique called half swording to counter armor.
@spectraldistortion Rome is better, in rome the turn is half a year, and 2 turns a person ages one year, as the would, but in medieval a turn is 2 years and the person only ages six months. That should be a decideing factor mate.

Also i thought it was a good idea of your opponent to put his general with a silver-shield legionary unit. granted they're not the best unit in rtw but they're half decent and much more mobile than phalanx units so u can move ur general around better.
Shogun should be similar to medieval style warfare, do you think youll like it? It also goes back to old style sun tzu tactics and will look stunning. But I dunno, im postive about it, but i like jap history (along with a lot of other histories lol), so personally I hope i like it and if so it would be great to see you do some vids of it if you like it also.

With teh camcorder, people were telling him to go back so he did, now that hes doing this again please be considerate of all the work he is putting in.
I really like the live commentary format, when you actually see how you battle and your view as it progresses. I don't think this format is as entertaining but it is ok.
With the number of regular viewers and subscribers I don't understand how you can't make money either from putting advertising on your videos or getting a basic external website with advertising and a pay pal donation button. you seem to be good with graphics your background is awesome.

@Lordsebastian101 no, actually, it lagged a lot before. Before I got my new computer, all of my videos lagged (just like this). Obviously, when I got my new computer, it ran great. But since I'm back to using my old PC, it's going to lag (just like this).
@dawnofwartwo I used to have a crappy little Vaio i bought back in 2002 it ran RTW pretty good. The biggest problem people have with games and computers, is that they want to run it on max details and max resolutions, knowing they cant. Shadows and reflections take the most out of a card. next is detail .... lower them :) and play on small to normal scale troops.

Since your old pc is dead, have you thought about putting in your old power supply and graphics card in to the old fart one? Not sure it would even be possible, but could be worth a try.

@andord123 ya, I'm primarily concerned since Shogun 2 is pretty hardcore on the computer. And he would need a much newer computer to play and give us HD quality video plays :)
when i play empire total war and i deploy my army in a nice formation but then i move them foward they all end up just going into a straight line.... why does it do that??
@Tarheels313 Group your troops with (G) then when you move them forward they will stay in whatever formation you put them in. Hope this helped if not get back to me and i will glady end my life from shame!!

I also like the live com better, it teaches more when you can see somebody managing the troops in real time. Of course I understand fraps would make battles almost unplayable for you, so whatever works works right .

@dawnofwartwo I used to have a crappy little Vaio i bought back in 2002 it ran RTW pretty good. The biggest problem people have with games and computers, is that they want to run it on max details and max resolutions, knowing they cant. Shadows and reflections take the most out of a card. next is detail .... lower them :) and play on small to normal scale troops.

@JewishKamikaze they all are strong in thier own right...
archers make the enemy constantly move and weaken thier troops
infantry attack their infantry and support cav in cav on cav fights
cav support the infantr by performing hamer and anvil attacks on the infantry, they also run off archers and rounting units

Since your old pc is dead, have you thought about putting in your old power supply and graphics card in to the old fart one? Not sure it would even be possible, but could be worth a try.

Surely it can only be one or two parts that are broken, I'm certain people are more than happy to donate them that live closer.

@andord123 ya, I'm primarily concerned since Shogun 2 is pretty hardcore on the computer. And he would need a much newer computer to play and give us HD quality video plays :)

when i play empire total war and i deploy my army in a nice formation but then i move them foward they all end up just going into a straight line.... why does it do that??

@Tarheels313 Group your troops with (G) then when you move them forward they will stay in whatever formation you put them in. Hope this helped if not get back to me and i will glady end my life from shame!!

I also like the live com better, it teaches more when you can see somebody managing the troops in real time. Of course I understand fraps would make battles almost unplayable for you, so whatever works works right .
