  • damn son, he needs to go back to makin fun of celebrities to their faces. when he doesn't he's super annoying.

  • he is crazy

  • bill's a twat

  • Arrrgghh! The hosts are hellish!

I think I've rarely seen a more awkward interview, especially when the hosts are the source of the awkwardness.

  • lol the reason he is so funny is a lot of people dont get his humor, and because hes been trying to make interviews with idiots funny for so long he thrives off the awkwardness of other people.. if anything he seems the opposite of vulnerable, and also a lot more aware/intellectual than most people, especially like the 2 idiot presenters. he doesnt give a fuck

  • If you LISTENED, to the interview, then you would understand why he says the funny stuff about the tumour!

  • i love him

  • hes so witty and hilarious but i feel like they pity him like a homeless dog they want to take home. I do not blame them.

  • Bill seems like a bit of a prick.

  • 8:17 onwards made me laugh so hard! XD The presenters faces!

  • used to be impenetrable and hilarious, now is vulnerable and dull

  • he is so interesting=)

  • Wow. At the end there. He was talking! He looked comfortable with other people. It was lovely!

  • I dunno why but this made me feel really rather sad ... I can see where he is trying to get to, his point of view, but it's as though he's over-analysed it into the ground... I believe he is trying to say, be open and be aware and enjoy the moment for what it is - take time to stand still .. instead (to me) he seems so sad, overthought, trying too hard and just ... awkward ? I've left watching this feeling "hmmmm ?? "

  • it's strange. i felt like i related to him so much.

  • Jesus it sounds like Amstell is slowly losing the plot. I say he suffers from an anxiety disorder of some sort.

  • @Noeladishi no Jesus he's Jewish, and a typical Jewish neurotic at that - mining his neurosis for comic effect.

  • People who dont work 9-5 and work oh I dunno maybe 10-6 12-8 2-10 11-7 12 hour shifts. Shall I continue? Of course not.

  • who is watching television at nine in the morning...if your up for work you'd be at work by nine..and if you dont have to get up for work that early you'd still be in bed surely...

  • @gl3110 good point.

  • He's so endearing! "Please sit like that, it's lovely" hahaha what a love

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhlings!

  • i dont know what the fuck is going on.

is he really that awkward or is he in character?

  • I definitely would like to move in with Simon, I would cry in his double sinks, that sounds splendid.

  • Simon looking like a very young Chris Morris there.

  • I think the whole Russell brain tumor thing he said is exaggerated by the media because as he explained it later on, he only restated what the presenters said. Bill and Sian were the awkward ones in my opinion in that they didn't go along with the humor.

  • I'd eat Sians old 50 year old pussy.

  • awww I love simon so much. I would never make him stop talking!

  • FUCK BILL TURNBULL

  • lol burst out laughing at the end what a legend

  • Awkward

  • :) lol "Simon stop talking now!"

  • when he does the stand up he sounds like michal macentiter

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx Wow! See these stupid YouTube comment blazes all the time but never seen someone conduct themselves with such integrity. Well done. And I agree with you btw, it's a shame for all women he's a gay man. Lucky for me, so am I. :-)

  • I see A LOT of myself in him and his constant anxiety! It's reassuring.

  • Funny guy. Might even get his vid. By his own admission though, he sometimes fails to treat people like 'human beings' in his attempts at humour, as displayed by his last comment.

  • @jesoire if you watch his t4 interview, he explains why he said that and points out he wasn't attempting to be malicious.

  • I love how it all ended up with Simon interviewing them instead of the other way around. It's great to see that his sharp mind works even at that early hour, even though he looks really tired.

  • lol!! the colour coordination thing xd

  • Man he fucks with them so well. And I love the way he reads them like a book, how they methodically interview people...fucking brilliant.

  • why did he get so shit

  • love how everyones ignoring that outburst at the end about the next guy having a tumour. still love simon tho

  • I hate how these comments are plagued with pathetic fangirl-ism, and not reflecting on the things that Simon is actually saying.

  • Youtube comments are the cancer of the internet (my tumor is benign though)

  • legend haha

  • he wore this shirt with a sleeveless cardigan, on the season 22 episode 6 featuring russell brand :) he looks good

  • @icecool1065 and @legendsxdie123 - Leave @xxxGOLDENGALxxx the fuck alone. She said nothing bad, at all. If anything, her observation should be commended -- Simon Amstell is a brilliant addition to the male population. I am heterosexual, and even I have a crush on him...

  • Comment removed

  • @icecool1065 I don't really know who pissed in your cornflakes, or what your problem with what I've said is? Perhaps you could explain what your issue is and I can explain myself, cos I genuinely didn't mean anything harmful, cruel, mean, homophobic or heterophobic by what I said. I'm sorry if I've offended you, but I really don't understand what I've done?

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx You don't have to apologize to fucking morons who are clearly looking for reasons to be offended. You said nothing wrong. Fuck em...

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx you dont need to apologise for your comments, dont worry yourself over someone else opinion.

  • @legendsxdie123 I have absolutely no problem with Simon Amstell being gay. Really I don't. I was just saying that he's a really sweet, funny, cute guy and is a loss to the female population in general. But a great gain to the male population. I hope I have made my point clear. Goodbye now.

  • @icecool1065 dude. I'm 14. And a straight girl. It was a sort of light hearted observation. Get over yourself.

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx You're a moron. Hag.

  • @icecool1065 You mad bro?

  • @Morkat1991 You found an original comment bro? No, didn't think so.

  • @icecool1065 I could commentate on your inexplicable urge to call someone a moron and a hag, when said person does not have to be either. One might say you are a bitter old fart, or perhaps have an amazing superiority complex. Though in essence, I figured you were just experiencing angry emotions.

  • @Morkat1991 And I could retort and call you a pseudo intellectual.

  • " In our seperate houses " hahaha , he's so shagging her

  • I love Simon, i wish he was my friend.

  • I'm not the only person who think these presenters are cunts right?

  • @90ShaneE not in the slightest.

  • In this interview he reminds a bit of an Aussie named Dylan Lewis.

  • Comment removed

  • I will!

  • Simon seems so lonely and vunerable here, so unlike his Buzzcock's persona. I just want to give him a big hug!

  • you mad hatter simon...

  • I loved him in never mind the buzzcocks but his show Grandma`s house is brilliant! I love it!

  • When I first watched 'Do nothing', I couldn't concentrate because all I could think of was "Why is this man single?" - He's bloody gorgeous and lovely!

  • @EminemShowxo hello again remember me?

  • I have a problem. I am beginning to develop a huge crush/obsession with Simon. Why are all the good ones gay? :(

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx really? the gay thing just makes me more obsessed with simon.

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx Sexist and heterophobic. Wow, It's shocking that you're so unpopular with men.

  • @icecool1065 jumping to conclusions a bit?

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx

Are you serious? You make it sound like being gay is a bad thing. Or as thought someone ought to change their sexuality for you.

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx You think you have a poblem? I'm a straight man and yet I still find myself obsessed with the guy :L

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx i like him too, only problem is i'm male and straight, love rewatching grandma's house

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx

Reverse that last question, and allow me my moments of "finally, actually playing on my team" once in a while.

  • @xxxGOLDENGALxxx I understand you completely. I've gone through several British gay celebrity crushes - John Barrowman, Stephen Fry and now Simon... shame really

  • simon amstell... wow, the first person to make me like/understand buddhism. he's so lovely.

  • ..lol this is why they sacked Simon from T4, Simon will say EXACTLY what the more discerning viewers are thinking and NOT what the liberal media and the general brain-dead sheep public are thinking.

  • @Dungarth You know Simon Amstell is a liberal right?

  • @Cheshirecat55 ...There is a difference between the liberal media/government and liberal people. Liberal Media and Government is actually an Oxymoron.

  • @Dungarth I don't see how it's an oxymoron.

  • @Cheshirecat55 Well the Liberal Media & Government are Liberal to a point until it cannot serve their personal interests for example political correctness which in itself contradicts the whole notion of Liberality.

  • @Dungarth 'Liberal Media' lol Twat.

  • i'd move in with him in a heartbeat

  • He's so cute here! If I was ever interviewed I'm afraid I'd have to steal his pose!! I can't believe he's 30! He's like a hot hyper hilarious 15year old!! I don't understand what's so offensive about his last sentence... He stated that the man had a brain tumor...

  • i felt that was unfair to simon. the interviewers just started like. "hello. you're a very awkward young man. tell us more" ... doesn't give him a lot of room lol

  • OMG that really made me crack up at the end.. He really is a genius.

  • oh god they made it so awkward :L

  • aww his glasses are adorable :D

  • he wasnt that mean to antony costa cause antony took it really well :)

    i love simon so much

  • hahaha simon is so funny

  • that bitch reporter needs to be less pissy and her pimp needs to jam his hype as well

  • I always used to think these BBC presenters were alright, but after watching this, Simon seems to have somehow made them look pretty stupid while they sit there lying and pretending to get/appreciate what he's on about.

  • aww what a sweet heart

  • @oldgregg93 god I so agree

  • I love the fact he has his legs crossed :p

  • no such thing as a lonely celebrity, just fussy ones

  • interviewers!

  • Simon is WAY too insightful and deep for the

  • just got to the end of this vid, god it was awkward. I sort of want to run on and break something then leave to ease it.

  • I don't think they like him very much, I feel they are not being very professional.

  • I looove that he has his legs crossed!

  • I WOULD LIVE WITH HIM!

  • I love Simon;) Im 12 and I think hes adorable! <3

  • @TPS4EVZ High-five, I'm also 12 and I think he's adorable :)

  • "If I stopped treating people like they were human beings it was because they'd stopped treating themselves like human beings."

    Brilliant.

  • what a couple of assholes. those interviewers. prick/dick and cunt. i think simon is great. he's very intelligent. and he's funny. i only watched this because of him. the two uncomfortably built cocks doing the interview, yes, very mis-shapen and not so attractive but appealing to the couch potatoe types, yes, them, were out of order. yet they love this "russell" who ever he was.

  • Legend!

  • hahaha quality hahaha

  • This was painful to watch. The hosts were idiotic and spiteful. Wish I could give Simon a hug . . . and some rumbly tumbly :)

  • Simon didn't really belong in this interview...he was talking about subjects like mindfulness, which is beyond the grasp of the shallow interviewers.

He seems slightly uncomfortable and depressed though :(

  • i wish i could cross my legs

  • this might be a little wrong, especially being a female, but he is rather adorable.

  • @crystadette A lot of women would agree with you. Including me.

  • "do nothing" and "everything has already been achieved". i hope Simon Amstell's right, my life will be a lot easier.

  • @TheVengefulKilljoy HAHAHHAHAAA i laughed so hard at your comment

  • @SuperMjw88 You can't compare that skiing Jew fuck to a mighty lion.

  • I typed in nob and this came up,

  • 4:22 what is written on simon's hand? Oh gosh, I need a perseption filter.

  • @youlikeananimalyeah Probably few notes to remember what he has to say in his show.

  • uh the presenters... annoyingly not getting anything simon says.

  • look at the female presenter at 8:18 when she puts her palm at Simon and says "yeh great". she's such a rubbish human being

  • @kenm31388 the bitch xD

  • Silly billy

  • lol dont be suprised if you invite a lion for dinner and it eats all the guestts.

what you expect when you invite simon amstell on?

  • they were kind of mean to him :(

  • Everyone is entitled to an opinion mine is he is no comic, he is someone who just thinks a cheap laugh is ok especially if its aimed at someone who has gone through a serious illness and it would not be funny to all of those who have been effected by a cancer or serious illness, what next take the piss out of the mentally ill? Go Simon Go !!! what a prick! grow up! stop acting like a complete creep! Cant wait for your next Hospice Tour !

  • @spirithunter121 yet this video has 0 dislikes...

  • @spirithunter121 It's okay to have an opinion but don't say he's the one needing to grow up while you are.

  • @spirithunter121 Never take life too seriously. No matter what you've been through.

  • @spirithunter121

He wasn't making fun of Russel Watson, he was making fun of the fact that the entertainment industry, including this show, has used Russel's illness to sell his records. I wouldn't expect someone with your reactionary nature to know the difference.

  • @xxxamydollxxx im sooooo exited. its been comissioned ands gonna be filmed in november 2011.

  • @loloolee24 its probably hard to find it to buy it, but you can download it from various sources :D It's totally worth a little digging!!

  • He's so cute... :3 I want to cuddle him and make him happy...

I don't think I could, but I'd like to try - but I'm one of those girls with short hair who try to trick everyone that she's interesting... ^^

  • Haha, he said that in irony right after he said that he wished he'd been a bit more sensitive to human emotion. Bit too far, but IT WAS FUNNY, RIGHT? Love Simon.

  • I'LL LIVE WITH YOU!

  • he looks ill and slightly underweight -- aww si i know thin is your thing but try to stay healthy. cant wait for next series of grandma's house!! :D:D:D

  • He looks like hes about to break down right there.

  • simon seemed really different here from when hes on never mind the buzzcocks he seemed more shy

still lovee him as much as i always have also he look so cute in them glasses

  • These interviewers are proof that when someone thoughtful and introspective and honest wants to deliver something meaningful, they curl up defensively. They expected Simon to answer all the easy questions and jump through hoops, but he gave them much more than they were capable of comprehending. But they couldn't be gracious and try to stay along his line of thought, Instead they were just shallow pricks about it and him.

  • I don't think anyone feel sorry for Simon. He was completely in control of this interview

  • I really don't get this. I mean the interviewers are terrible, and totally at odds with him, but how can he interview people so confidently and then be so awkward in interviews himself?? I hated him on popworld and buzzcocks but I adore his standup and Grandma's house. It's a kind of bizarre split personality to have

    ...

  • @mryoung1989 It's not a split personality. You just have to understand how introverted people think and feel. Introverted people are comfortable having the focus on someone else instead of themselves. They do well as an interviewer. If the focus switches to them there is more risk of them being judged and that makes introverted people really uncomfortable. Therefore, not the best interviewees. Plus, introverted people like to think about deep stuff. Interviewers like to stick to the superficial.

  • @monkeyflowers As an introverted person, I find the idea of being on stage infront of people incredibly uncomfortable, as I don't want all that attention on myself, as you put it. I don't think you can make such a huge generalisation. And because a person is introverted doesn't mean they are 'deep', although of course this can be the case, just as it can be with extroverts. I'm not disagreeing that SImon is a complex person, but I just find these mass sweeping generalisations slightly bizarre.

  • @mryoung1989 I'll take the general out of it then. I am basing what I said off of what Simon said. When he is on stage HE is the one doing the self-deprecating jokes about himself. That means he's in control of the judgment. When he sat for the interview the judgement was out of his hands and put into the interviewers, thus at the beginning he said, "I'm nervous." I'm an introvert too and I know all introverts are not the same. I just think it doesn't mean he has a split personality.

  • @mryoung1989 I find it incredibly uncomfortable to be on stage too. I think that if a person wants something bad enough though they can train themselves to perform well at extroverted things and even appear extroverted, purely because they practice so much. Stand up and television may seem effortless and natural at times but it's mostly rehearsed. Whereas, an interview usually is not. That's my reasoning behind my statements. I agree with you too though.

  • @monkeyflowers Fair enough, it makes more sense to me after the explanation!

  • 'We've already had a lovely interview. Everything is fine.' lol not quite Simon.

  • They are really fucking annoying. They are treating him like a little kid.

  • Is it really awkward that he reminds me a lot of my brother...? Probably. Wow, I am glad that, out there, somewhere in the world, there is a celebrity who is actually smart and very much himself. I mean, he actually said that a lot of famous people really do sell their lives and make themselves cheap and that they should be treated that way because of it. I think it's amazing that he had the courage to say that! Everyone was thinking that anyway!

  • who broke amstell?

  • 'It is funny, we laughed. Okay.' Shuan doesn't know how to respond, it is hilarious.

  • Was he high?

  • 'We've finished, We've got to get Russell on with his tumor.'

What a way to finish a show.

  • Simon's very much on his own wavelength. Having a bit of a nervy break. Come on though, it's really not that bad. Quite funny. They want to stick to the form, he wants to break them into little pieces to discuss abstractions he can't understand himself, it's all very itself, really.

  • Why are they patronising him ? =.=

  • Little. bit. awkward... But I loves u Simon :) xx

  • God I hate Bill Turnbull. Just, so so much. Ugh.

  • i find it hard to believe that thers only 1 simon interview after all the people hes interviewed

  • I think BBC breakfast should stop interviewing celebrities, it just doesn't work on the news and of course they're shit at interviewing people just report the news and get on with it
