  • He is the master

  • he's like a pianist playing guitar

  • I don't understand why there are people that click "dislike". Steve Morse is one of the greatest guitar players EVER!

  • steve morse is fantastic!!!,,,really great guitar player for a legendary band!

  • Your vid went viral on Kazakhstan

  • Good God.... awesome.

  • This never gets old!

  • @Paragonx135 Blackmore is an average guitarists. Steve Morse is considered of the finest guitarist in the world. When a guitarist can bring tears to your eyes like Morse then you know your on to something. Blackmore is good, but I'm sorry Morse is in another "strat"isphere

  • 43 people suffer from Parkinson's disease and have missed the "like" button. Dont´t get me wrong, this is a serious disease... no one make jokes about... *cough*

  • The only guitarist who plays arpeggios with alternate picking, and one of only few whose fast playing isn't sounding like a cell phone ring. Also, he's very modest and so down to earth. Has dynamics, his soloing is so emotive, such a musical intelligence, and technical ability to play anything he can imagine. True guitar hero of these days.

  • steve morse is a great guitarist ever.. he was amazing..so amazing..

  • It's amazing how the crowd falls silent not to miss any of his notes...

  • Steve Morse is exellent, but don't forget that Blackmoore is the genius inventer of all the riffs.

Hope he comes back from the middleage and start making music again :)

  • i've never heard a man with such a command over dynamics on electric guitar, AMAZING!

  • Cheezhedd should be dickhead

  • Steve morse is the best guitarist of them all. Just superb and i'm now going upstairs to throw one off

  • I met Steve once backstage and he was quite gracious and attentive. Nice guy for a genius. And ever since I heard him on the Dregs 1st album, What If, (was that there 1st?)anyway, I have always put him in the top catagory with the greats. We all know who they are, not Rolling Stoned!(he never got a mention did he?)

  • Steve is my favorite guitarist and if Blackmore had to leave, I'm glad it was Steve who took over.

  • Steve, you are an absolute f...... genius.

  • @Paragonx135 As a kid I adored Blackmoore and still do. But Steve is just so much more better plus he does different styles. Steve is awesome!

  • I think blackmore have diferent way to play than steve morse, steve morse is more tecnique then blackmore because the evolution of guitar players if blackmore didn't exist maybe steve morse didn't exist too, I like steve morse play, but don't have any surprise, I think, blackmore is better on stage then morse...sorry about my english, I am brazilian...

  • Amazingly creative, what a genius.

  • Saw him perform this yesterday in Glasgow. Absolutely incredible.

  • eso suena tan espiritual

  • Steve Morse was a founding member of the Dixie Dreggs...nuff said.

    Awesome music!

  • pure amazing

  • Steve Feeling Morse.

  • It's fine if someone for some reason someone doesn't like Steve Morse. But, if any of you question his prominence as a musician and think that he doesn't represent the top of his craft, then you are just plain ignorant and you get to wear the dunce cap in the corner. This guy has been one of the best and original guitarists ever for a long long time already. If it's not for you..., okay. But stop saying ignorant and stupid stuff.

  • if for no other reason, Steve Morse is awesome because John Petrucci (Dream Theater) mentioned him as his favorite guitarist of all time and main inspiration for playing guitar. JP has inspired millions of people to play guitar. every time i listen to a DT song or watch JP i learn something new out about guitar. its all cuz of this guy here. Steve Morse. much respect

  • @Paragonx135 You are just wrong, any giving correctly trained musician with the right understanding will take Blackmore over.. well practically almost anyone anytime, Morse makes a lot of mistakes here as well just need to notice them not to mention plays much easier material he cant play any deep purple guitar solo note to note its just too hard i dare you to go look.

  • I always thought that in order to get insane sounds out of your guitar, you needed a Floyd Rose. I've been proven wrong.

  • I don't know if someone has mentioned this, I didn't have time to read ALL the comments: Steve Morse couldn't be a nicer guy. . .I have seen him in concert three times, and he is always personable, funny, and self-effacing. That means a lot to me. In addition to being a genius on the gutar, he is humble. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but he is, and will always be my #1 guitarist.

  • @robmelone yea the guy is pretty cool , at small venues he stays after the concert to give autograhs to his fans until everyone is gone, thats how i remembered the last concert i went to go see him.

  • This is an amazing solo...the technical skill, the soul, and the melody are all incredible. I love it.

  • Nice list of guitarists who would respect Steve Morse and be honored to share a stage with him. If you have a guitar give a few of Steve's songs a go. Pity that so many fanboys have too much time to criticize without credentials of their own! I'm sure that any living guitarist would take time to woodshed if they got a call to tour with Morse on the bill.

  • por algo es uno de los mejores guitarristas de la historia!!

  • they came to La Tortuga in Talcahuano last week and he played this very same piece and I was mesmerised, astounded

  • This man is genius, ive seen some of comments here and players youve mentioned as better than steve, pffffffffff. what a bunch of bs. probably this is just too much to understand, yes? get over satrianis and vays and start listening to real music. De Lucia and McLaughlin played with this dude, what better proof do you need that hes more than good.

  • AMAZING GRACE!!!

  • His tone could be so much better

  • Acabo de llegar a mi casa despues de ver a Deep Purple en concierto en Chile, que espectacularidad más grande.

  • i came here to listen to steve morse because of john petrucci mentioning him in an interview, i can tell steve morse is his biggest influence

  • ¿unnamed? lets call it the epic solo

  • Don't feed the trolls, children.

  • I want to take back my last comment....Steve Morse not only suks, but is far worse than suk.

Any Rock guitarist, you name it, is better

    :

Yngwie Malmsteen. Steve Via, Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Hendrix...

    Need I go on?

  • @cheezhedd Steve Morse gives emotion in his style...But don't worry, you'll understand maybe later...

  • @cheezhedd do you play guitar? asshole

  • @cheezhedd Youre a fuckin duesche. Steve Morse is more unique than any of those guys u mentioned. especially Malmsteen. who isnt as "good" as everyone thinks. he can just play fast which anybody can do if they practice long enough. u would know this if u were a real guitarist

  • Steve Morse is very talented....1000 times better than I could ever be.

But he has no voice... no one could ever pick him out of a crowd, unlike say, Santana, Van Halen, Hendrix, Page... et al.

    And therefore,

    he suks.

  • @cheezhedd you could pick him out in a crowd soloing because of the way he starts his phrases with the hold then series of quick notes then longer hold, its in pretty much all his solos

  • @cheezhedd Santana is the biggest plick licker guitarist around these days. He plays what I call karaoke guitar. Shame to see that he no longer has any ambition to play something original these days. Still, he's smart enough to collaborate with very good musicians. That has always been his biggest strength.

  • @cheezhedd Not that every other rock guitarist has set himself out to sound like Page. Good luck finding Page in a sea of his imitators. Steve Morse is unique. Anyone with an ear could hear and recognize his phrasing. And well, if you can't, go on ahead and be the solipsist who says because an orange has no taste it has none for anyone else.

  • Petrucci student? No WAY! Petrucci was Satriani´s student and it´s at the same level as morse, they´re both fucking amazing. Different players, but no one is better.

  • @MrGuitarMadness95 I don't think he meant student, but that in an interview, Petrucci names Morse as his favorite guitar player/biggest influence.

  • HEY does anyone know what scale he uses for the first part, or what shape. Im trying to get my head round it and just cant!

  • Comment removed

  • @GEORGEROUY what parts are you specifically talking about?

  • @micellis11 Just the first part :)

  • @GEORGEROUY it honestly to me sounds like a major scale, Morse typically plays over the chords :)

  • @GEORGEROUY For this part i have no idea but i heard and self tried gthat he uses the mixolydian shape very often ....all these not normal shapes locrian, lydian you have to try them out ...hope it helped a bit :)

  • why does this not have 7 million views?? oh yeah, cuz people don't listen to real music anymore.. :(

  • @eric1993v - agree! because they just don't understand this kind of music and its too complicated for them..

so they just listen to some emo music..

  • @eric1993v Yeah I completely agree and I also have to say however much I hate people who say this. 42 people have no soul.

  • I have recordings of him playing stuff like this on tour with Kansas in the 80's and 90's! It's the best!

  • @TheZackyBear Bit late but just saw this comment. Ernie Ball Music Man Steve Morse Guitar, not the Y2D one, this is the one with 2 humbuckers and 2 coils.

  • the best

  • Steve Morse is still way too under rated being one of Petruccis inspiration. It's so easy to tell when Petrucci has been influenced by Morse in his solos.

  • i have seen this dude live several times, and he is just fuckin amazin' he and Blackmore are the most complicated of guitarists to imitate!

  • @MrEVIL1666 It's probably easier to imitate Ritchie because Steve is such a freak. Ritchie is my favourite though.

  • @thomasnonsense Dont think so...Steve Morse had to work a lot to play Rtchie´s solos

  • @zappfripp87 I don't doubt that for a nanosecond. Trying to do Steve's stuff is delving into the realms of impossible though. Steve's technical proficiency, however, doesn't come close to Ritchie's musical genius. Having said that, Steve is pretty damn special.

While Ritchie's work with Blackmore's Night seems to have alienated many of his fans, I can't get enough of it. Ritchie's departure from Purple in '93 and Steve's recruitment in '94 just means I have two greats to feast on!

  • @MrEVIL1666 - they're legends for me.. hehe

  • This is why he is John Petrucci's favorite guitarrist

  • 41 dislikes from jimmy page fans

  • Solo Search Results: (Last Search in the Hard and Soft Cat: Jeff Beck 10/10.).

In The Hard Cat; Steve Morse 10/10.

  • Simplemente hermoso *_*

  • Is this... is this the meaning of life?

  • full tab??

    pleazeeee

  • tab 6:52 / 7:20 ?

  • STEVE MORSE FOR THE FUCKING WIN

  • The Best! You will not here a solo like this often?

  • i melted and was tranced at 1:40

    this solo is simply amazing...

  • absolutely ! !!!

  • this band's guitarist plays like Steve Morse!!!!

    /watch?v=KZJKPLo32aE&feature=related

  • Ok, after watching John Petrucci, then Steve Morse, you can tell the smililarities.

  • He was one of my favorites since the early 80's. Love his use of swell effects in this! A very innovative guitarist for sure.

  • WHY IS THIS SOLO UNNAMED!? I WANT TO PLAY IT EITHER!!!

  • He is awesome...........

  • von wegen telefonieren am steuer. steve morse am steuer sollte verboten werden. bei solchen melodien kann man sich nicht mehr auf den verkehr konzentrieren :D

  • every note, articulation and accidental is absolutely pristine and perfect.

  • With swell effects you can create amazing string-like sounds with a guitar, similar to what a keyboarder would do :) I use it alot!

  • I visit FlirtyCams. O_R_G when I feel like dating, as I think it's a great website for online dating

  • Happy birthday Steve Morse!

  • My god that ending was epic!!!1

  • Master

  • To all the people saying Morse can't play melodic stuff; you are wrong.

  • What is the name of this song?

  • @Alexcamo93 AHAHAHA dude, i get your joke.

  • @JD0x0 well then it seems i m not that good with my terminologies am i?

    all the best dude....

  • Dude I remember when they came to Antofagasta / Chile and they played for free!! It was amazing they played fantastic! and then don airey started to play "Gracias a la vida" in his Keyboard and then Steve morse played a very similar solo like this one, Whole place shut the fuck up and when he finish it was massive celebration!

  • so now you see beiber fans why his video has over 1.5 million dislikes...

  • For all the people asking what effects he is using, Morse is just using a distorted guitar with some delay on it. The rest is his fingers and some volume knob finesse.

  • I saw Deep Purple at PNC Bank Arts Center in June, and when Steve Morse played this, I thought I was gonna cry, punch something, and kiss the nearest girl at at the same time.

  • @yanhpitan

    I understand you:-))))

  • If i could only play 1 song for the rest of my life, it would be this.

  • Well, this sucks

  • @FredBR999 you suck noob!

  • ONLY Morse can do MORSE.

  • he is using the volume knob for the effect....in technical term its call the violin effect

  • @MrDirgeinferno actually it's called a "swell" you can use it for more than just a violin effect, I can get really convincing, reverse guitar sounds with the volume knob along with other stuff.

  • @JD0x0 nice but swell is a technique where the guitarist uses the pedal and the volume knob but Steve never used pedal. he already edited his effect patch with modulation, reverb and turned the tone down to around 6, so he did not have to use the pedal that is violin effect but what ever makes you happy ...any ways thanks.

  • @MrDirgeinferno nope. A swell is just a change in volume with a taper. You dont use both a pedal and volume knob as they do the same thing. A pedal just makes it easier on guitars which dont have accesable volume knobs that can be operated by the pinky, like you see steve doing here.

  • While watching this, I looked to my guitar lying on the bed and asked myself why she can't do this?

  • @hary202 She can

    It's you who can't

  • @pietruk2 That IS my point, smart ass. Best regards.

  • Comment removed

  • how's that effect called?

  • @fuckingdiot That's not an effect, that's freaking Steve Morse!!! I can see how you could get confused though...

  • sounds like a fucking flute for a sceond

  • I remember watching this on the Total Abandon dvd way a few years ago. Still amazes me

  • il y en a 40 qui devrait s acheter une paire d oreilles pfff pourtant je suis pas un inconditionnel de steve morse !

  • Approximately 2:00 to 3:00 minute mark reminded me of Close Encounters of the Third Kind...

  • @TheZackyBear Ernie Ball Music man

  • I have the Deep Purple Around The World Live dvd with this on it! It's just beautiful and amazing and everything good!

  • For Gods sake pick up a Statocaster. That pitchy squealing guitar is just painful to hear specially if your a vintage Purple fan. Great guitar player crappy sound.

Techically Morse may be better than Blackmore. He comes nowhere near sounding as good. Then again I have yet to hear a better sound than Ritchie`s.

  • boring for me but a great guitar player. Dream Theater forever

  • Freaking AMAZING. If yall like this and metal in general... go check out the kid doing lead for Animals as Leaders... I love where music is going after being inspired by amazement such as this.

  • @ffsih8thene Tempting time is fucking brilliant !

  • i can totally hear the petrucci in this! wow! great improv too!

  • @dirtbikeflipper because he's the main inspiration for Petrucci !

  • wich effects does he use???

  • @Guitarmark100 all of them!!

  • @sevenatis i wanna know what effects.xD

  • i love this solo!!! ;DD

  • This guy rocks!

  • 40 people can fucking die

  • quite splendidly rich, solid, dazzling performance indeed.

  • 3:38 part from jesus christ superstar

  • John Petrucci is way better

  • @muguripon ...you mean way different^^

  • @muguripon John Petrucci is a great Steve Morse's fan. Petrucci says that the best guitar in the world is Morse's one, he admires him. It's like a master and a talented student! ;)

  • @muguripon not

  • @muguripon Petrucci used to be good.

  • Tell me the guy from owl city didn't listen to the part around 1:45 till 2:00....

  • I loved this guy before I even listened to him because we have the same birthday!!!

  • I have no words... none that would do justice to what I've just listened to

  • He has an amazing guitar tone

  • @luksha666 The best i've ever heard.

  • 5:35 is so goooooooddddddd

  • Finally I have found something on you tube where I can say I was there! At the concert in Melbourne. It was jaw dropping!!! from Australia. If you want all of this and the rest of the concert. Get the DVD, "Deep Purple - Total Abandon - Australia '99"

  • Finally I have found something on you tube where I can say I was there! At the concert in Melbourne. It was jaw dropping!!! from Australia

  • i dont understand how this vid has 40 dislikes:/

  • @slashniss its Richie Blackmore fans who dislike ;)

  • @TheGuitaz oh yeah so true haha..:) steve is a god man..i've got his soloalbums too..and all the ones with his steve morse band..hes such a versatile musician!

  • That part in the beginning with the volume swells is unreal.

  • whats the song at 3:40 i just can remember!!!???

  • @ilpmuRk Itts actually from Jesus Christ Superstar the musical

  • @ilpmuRk it's from "a mighty fortress is our god" actually

  • So this is where John Petrucci got his concept for his "In the moment" piece

  • terrribleeeee

  • hello

  • No delay just volume swells there

  • does he use a psychedelay on 1:11 ?

  • @soundchecker3 At this moment, he is using his short Memory Man delay. He actives his delays with volume pedals. And like has said ill3stV1llain, he uses the volume knob to do this kind if violoning

  • so beautiful just brings me to tears

  • awsumness personified

  • I went to a duel concert with Status Quo and Deep Purple playing in 2005, I swear, it was the greatest time of my life. When Steve Morse played this, everyone was just dead silent, listening in awe... It was fucking amazing....

  • @THErealJEBUSdude I think Status Quo and Steve Morse are definitely some unknowns that need to be far more known to the public.

  • @Hitmanblack yeah they are two of my favorite bands

  • @THErealJEBUSdude

It is, but at 1:12 it sounds like a flute :) Just sayin'.. it's funny kay! :D

  • steve morse is a guitar.

  • OMG BEST SONG EVER! its like he turns his guitar into a flute then a violin lmao

  • Another thing what I like about Steve Morse is that he never shows off on the stage like: "OH, look I'm the best!". He's doing his thing calmly and he's the best at it. He doesn't need to smash his guitar, or headbang or jumping because he's a true Guitar God and really takes care of his guitar. Long Live Morse!!

  • @Brainthrasher

Some guitarists do actually get lost in the music so much that they can help look like there showing off. But I will admit alot do show off. This solo has so much emotion in it if I played this on stage I would stuggle to not cry as its such a beautiful solo.

  • @micheals1992 yeah totally agree this solo is very beautiful and emotional, especially the pedal effects. Listening to them brings you to the 999th heaven.

  • There are hundreds of excellent guitar players in the world but this man has it all. He's simply a genius.

  • Somebody knows a better Guitarist ?<
