@Drediggy she made the same mistake most young artists make...she accepted that advance on her future records...once you do that the record company owns your music. your creative soul is bound after that...if they don't think your music is going to get them a proper return on their "investment" (the advance) then they can and will block your music...you see on dave chappelle's block party her label wouldn't let her do her own songs but allowed the Fugees Songs? because they own it.

It hurts because I remember seeing a recent pic of her and all my friends (husband and wife) could say with their rotten tv minds was "oooh wee she looks like a crackhead now." She felt like she was being untrue to her fans, and more especially herself. She felt like what she started out doing and loved, turned into a job and probably not even fun anymore. The passion she had for music, vanished and that was enough for her to realize that if she can't do it and be real, then why do it at all. She explains alot of this in her song "Lose Myself" and songs and the interludes from her MTV unplugged album.

I dont know man. Lauryn seems to be in this new mental state of utter gloom and depression. I mean dont get me wrong, the things she says is the truth. The brutal truth actually. But she seems to be in this dark emotional rut now. Far from old Lauryn of her first album. Even before when she talked about the ills of life, the song still had this tone of hope of things getting better. Now her music just plain out makes you suicidal. Lauryn Hill is alright. I guess she's doing the family thing now because when I saw her in December '07, she was pregnant with #3. I guess she'll released something eventually, but music has changed a lot since she left. There are a few honest singers, but not many.
