  • "Great future, I'm sure." HELL YES, WORLD RECORD 1500m HOLDER!

  • Your video is a favorite on Italy

  • It looks very bleak out there where they're running.

  • "Great future, I'm sure". Wonder if he remembers saying that?!?

  • kapooo hicham......lastia xq degooo!!!!

  • El gerouj he is berber and its very importent

  • 1:22 "El guerrouj of morroco, not a familiar name" i'm sure you know him now

  • A 13:43 relay leg for 5k. A great run to pass the Kenyan & Ethiopian, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 20 year old, considering he was to go on and run over 50 secs faster.

  • @deano27671 this is on the road. do you not realise that running on the road is completely different to running on the track?

  • yes yes hicham moroccans are proud and we need time to have a star like youuthanks hichaaaaaam

  • The commentator says: " He's got a great future, i'm sure"

I think he was right ;)

  • What were they handing off?

  • Please check out my channel & ask me any questions that u may ahve on running may it be beginning, intervals, long runs, half-marathons, marathons or injuries. Feel free to ask me anything!

  • El guerrouj runs heel - toe, so if anyone tells you to run on your toes tell them to get stuffed ;)

  • @Rogerio34567 actually he isnt it looks like he is but if you go frame by frame he steps on midfoot and toe but i can see what u mean ;)

  • @Rogerio34567 looks like a midfoot strike to me. he may be running with forefoot strike during the mile too. and some people can get shin splints from heel striking so it is different for everyone

  • 2:09.... hahah he sure did

  • El Guerrouj's running form is much more efficient then the others

  • 5 km in 21 minutes ? I could do that

Or is it 7.5 km in 21 minutes? I could never do that

  • @bboybram its 5k in less than fourteen minutes bro

  • When you have a name like that you know your going to be the best.

  • "I'm sure he has a promising future" the commentator couldn't have been any more right

  • where i can see the rest ?

  • Comment removed

  • I think the Zibawians are running on barfeet here.

  • ha el guerrouj not a familiar name makes me laugh

  • I know I chuckled at that, what a future he had ahead of him.

  • yea prob the best middal distance runners.

  • @MichealWeather but he also said he was sure that he would have a great future. he couldnt have been more right

  • En fait c'est Aouita qui était directeur technique

  • I like this video, that was the begening of guerrouj. All great ppl start from nothing, but they trace and pave their way towards glory and fame via hardwork and persistance. Nice inspiration is hicham.

  • haha dude this guy helps out with my middle school track team

  • Haha I like 2:09-2:11 "He has a great future ahead of him, I'm sure." yeah like 2 or more World Records haha.

  • it was before hicham got the world record in the mile.

  • not a familiar name?? but he is the mile world record holder i dont get it can someone explain¡¡?? id be very thankfull

  • Yeah, it was in 1994 dude! Most people hadnt heard of him until the summer of 1996, when he was suddenly made red-hot favorite for the Olympics

  • this was 5 years before he set the world record in the mile

  • at that time it wasn't a familiar name it was his begining to the glory it was on 1994.

that's when the world discovered a new legend coming iin

  • this was way before he broke the mile world record. he was still a junior runner then

  • Does anybody know where i could find a video of the 1995 Gothenburg World Championship 1500m Final of El Guerrouj winning the silver behind Morceli?

  • I ve found a part of the video you are looking for, even though the quality is not so good. Look at this video **youtube***/watch?v=lftB7iGCt0s

  • thx

  • does anybody know Hicham el guerrouj

height / weight / and inside leg measurement

as I need it for college sports profile

  • send me a message, I think I can help you out with your inquiries.

    Peace.

  • height: 1 76m, weight: 58 Kg, the rest I don´t know. Go to University of Oregon, he ´s living and studingy there.

  • 2:08

  • "he's got a great future I'm sure"

  • haha, "not a familiar name..." Kind strange to hear that, but it was 1994.

  • at first is that real?

  • I wanna see the rest

  • one of the greatest sportsman

  • favorite event- the mile for sure

  • i think el guerrouj would get utterly raped by bekele in a 10k or marathon. and haile would beat anyone in a marathon, hands down. el guerrouj is the best mid-distance runner, not long distance runner

  • Haile only wins time trial-type marathons. In those marathons where he has faced stiff competition he has not been able to win.

  • okay but he still holds the fastest marathon time in the world

  • thanx 4 this great video, hicham is a legend of track and field. now morocco is preparing new 1500m champions for the future maybe Iguider or El Kaouch

  • Check out a high schooler running a 4 minute mile. Type in German Fernandez mile on youtube.

  • his time was about 13:42. he started at about 42:17 and finished at 55:59. that's pretty good considering he was running by himself for most of the run...

  • lol i like when he said that he wasnt a farmiliar name...now he is!

  • man he just left that guy in the dust didnt he...

  • you are the best, hicham is my favourite:)!

  • This isnt a easy sport.

  • at the begining "allez yallah al khattabi, yallah almgharba" hahaha thats cute from el g

i love this race because u see runners act so naturally now they are so media covered and built into unreachable heroes its a shame really

    anyway thanks for sharing

  • awesome video.

  • El guerrouj is the best!!

  • hard to beilve this is the man that would win the 1500 and 5k in 2004 olympics. ABSOLUTELY BRILLANT

  • "hes got a great future Im sure"....you got that right

  • 800m to 3000m is 'middle distance.' Could Seb Coe have run a 7:23 for 3k?

  • Coe was an 800m/1500m runner! He ran 45 minutes for 10 miles in 79, so I would suggest that had he trained for 3000m he would have run around 7:30. I could also ask, could EL G run a 1:41 800m?

  • hell no....not even aouita & haile & kenenisa & morceli were able to do that who were much more versatile runners over the mid and longer distances than seb coe...cheers!!

  • @PathwayX 3000m is not middle distance. 800m to 2000m is middle, but the 1500 is king. Starting on the straight is terrific and it has the right mix of speed and tactics to make it the most fun and the most watchable. But the 3k? You do have to be quite nippy, but it's just too far to be middle. Three quarter?

  • Greatest 1500m runner of all time , but not greatest middle distance runner of all time. The classic middle distance races are 800m to 1 Mile. With that in mind Seb Coe is hands down the greatest middle distance runner of all time!

  • Middle distance in athletics (track and field) races that range in distance from 800 metres to 3,000 metres . In international competitions, middle-distance races include the 800 metres, the 1,500 metres and the 3,000 metres (a steeplechase event for men, but a regular run for women).

  • ohh shut up u sound so stupid

  • el guerrouj is the 1500 recordman, 1 mile recordman and 1000 recordman ok?

what is morceli? nothing ok? what is sebastian coe? just nothing! and haile and kenenisa are longer distance runners idiot! You remember? The victory of El-G against kenenisa in the 5000m final of Athens olympics! Hicham is the best of them all. and try to be more polite loser ha ha ha :)

  • first of all i wastn't even directing my coment toward u "al hmar" i am to a huge fan of el guerrouj

  • you're just nothing too a wjah lkhra

  • by the way u still got a lot to learn about distance running if u think morcelli, seb coe, are just nothing...anybody that reads your paragraph would think that you're the real looser...hicham might be the best of them all..but they're all time greats too...i'-m moroccan as well and i love el guerrouj but i respect the others as well a rass tota..and for the reference el kouch is banned for drugs use so th6ere in no el kouch anytime soon baba iguider is ok but not in th6e same caliber as elgu

  • rass tota! hhhhh, anyway, everybody here has his own point of vue that you should respect. So at least we are ok that EL G is the best. But I think that el kaouch will never die because of the illegal drugs, he will return after all he's so strong. But you can't say Youssef Baba is ok!!! This Baba is the biggest loser of the moroccan athletics history. This is the proof of your stupidity "aghioul" hhhhhh.

  • 1000m world record: Noah Ngeny 2.11,96

  • very impressive performance, at the time nobody knew that he is going to become the greatest middle distance runner of all times.!

  • I knew he would lol..
