Bus powered firewire only happens on 8pin firewire jack (I believe only on Apple computers), no 6pin (PC's).

FireWire 400 (6-pin) and 800 (9-pin) provide bus power ( up to 45w). Only 4-pin does not. So the desktop PC provide power, but laptop PC in most cases not.

My M860TU indeed has a 4pin port, it would be really nice to figure out how to manufacture a battery of some sorts to achieve maximum mobility...

Another great review MDL! For anyone going with the m-audio brand... The axiom 49 is killlin' em. i used to have the m-audio ozone But, it's a toy next to the axiom 49. the weighted keys feels great and it has 8 mpc style pads on it too! the Akai MPK 49 is a bit superior mostly because of the appregiator. But, foor the money the axiom is a great controller.

You're right, but if you have shitty computer speakers for monitoring you'll never get a good mix out of them... or if you're using the cheesy stock sounds in FL it's not as nice as the Native Instruments samples... I agree with you, you definitely have to use your shit well, but having high quality gear definitely does help if you know how to use it.

a tip for u--> TRY your keyboards before buying them.. I think the m-audio series suck by the feeling of the keys.. but I discovered that when I got it in.. Its something people can forget when buying shit for the first time..
