  • Nice, I have an '81 Silverburst myself.

  • I'm saving for an 80's lp custom silverburst.. Probably my favorite LP next to the LP doublecut standard

  • Hey Bongo, would you be interested in selling your guitar?

  • Adam Jones from TOOL loves em'.

  • Solid playing, but more so, that is such a beautiful guitar. I don't like the new customs, but an original silverburst from the early 80s is maybe the only thing I'd trade my Tele for.

  • Can I ask a question? O.K. why do so many include 666 in their user name? Is it scary or just to show defiance to authority. Nothing personal, I'm just asking. I see a great many channels with 666 in their name. Is it an organized collective, or coincidental synchronicity?

    GREAT guitar chops!

  • Thanks for the guitars !

My usual nickname from childhood is bongo, just bongo. It was already taken and I was obliged to add something I can remember easily because I'm usual to forget usernames, passwords and secrets questions answers...

666 is the number of the Best ... Am I wrong ? ;)

  • haha!! lol!!!.................................^

  • 666 is "beast", not "best".

    cool guitar anyways ;)

  • @bichobranco :

It's the number of the best beast, duh! ;D

  • lol

  • 666 is the number of the beast, not best. not sure if it was a typo or not.

  • @bongo666 Beast... not Best

  • wow the tone is fantastic, i have the epiphone silverburst and there is a VERY noticeable difference in tone, i would love to have one of these

  • i think this is slightly better but the epiphone silverburst sounds very warm too.

  • Lucky as fuck he got tripped off.

  • Very nice guitar! I have the 1979 version. Found it in a pawn shop in 2001 for only $500, in great condition!

  • You're the luckiest guy on the planet, pawn broker got ripped.

  • seriously?? only 500?

  • @eskerbillion what a steal

  • Your old Silverburst would beat the RI, even for the modern stuff.

  • bongo666: Are you using the tone knob on the neck pickup? If not, I'd recommend to change your electronics to get a clearer tone. It also looks like you're using the volume knob on the bridge pickup, am I right? Not bad at all, but with all knobs on 10, a Silverburst LP should ROCK LIKE NO OTHER!!!

With the right electronics (500K pots, .022mfd caps),(medium) to HOT pickups and a fine tube amp this older Silverburst would be the GODFATHER of all Les Pauls. It has a MONSTER TONE for hardrock.

  • see how this one the silver only goes up to the pickup closest to the head? i like that! i hate how epiphones have like the whole guitar silver!

  • yeah man, agree..

    btw its called teardrop :)

  • the god of all guitars

i cut my ear off for one

  • ahhhhh i got a 1980, nothin' touches this guitar i swear, worth every penny i saved for 6 months!!!

  • The tonal difference has to do with the volume pots. In the original silverburst they used 100-300k pots whereas a modern les paul has 500k. This is a common myth attributed to the paint but in reality this is where the darker tone comes from.

  • I'm not completely convinced. I own an 88' Les Paul Standard Silverburst myself (only 200 made). It has an ebony fretboard, it's heavy as hell and it's greened because of the paint they used for it. Mine is an extremely rare guitar in every aspect.

I use it with brand new CTS 500K pots, standard pickup wiring and it definately has a darker tone than what I'm used to with Les Pauls, believe it or not. I've tried all sort of pickups, but nothing changed its character. Huge, warm tone.

  • bonjour, quel musique jouez vous dans la video ? a partir de 0mn22 ? j'aime trop !!

  • U should be using that guitar 4 good not evil (by good i mean tool and by evil i mean blues)

  • Nice work!

Go to guitarvillage com*cn to buy a this guitar at a rather cheaper price!

  • Do the reissues still have the tone-changing metalflaking? It seems like only the originals retained that characteristic, but could just be me. And in your opinion, if the style of music is bouncing back and forth between medium distortion and clean, would you recomend the reissue or originals?

  • ADAM JONES!

  • ke shifo dei un francese del cazzo

    io idio i francesi vaffanculo

  • Italian, LOL

  • io odio gli italiani, vafffanculo agli italiani.

cmq questo zidane o non zidane c'ha la chitarra piu bella del mondo

  • are you rolled back off of the tone knob while playing the jazzy stuff towards the end? or is that just how dark it is with the neck pickup. I just bought a 79 and I really don't want to to change the pickups but that really won't fit my style.

  • aww. lucky.

  • which one sounds fatter/heavier (considering only it's body and construction, not the pickups)?

the new one has maple neck too?

  • The new one got a little more high medium than the older. The old Silverburst are darker.

  • witch Gibson do you like better the 81 or 2007 reissue? I just wanted to know your whats opinion on that.

  • The sound are pretty not the same. The 80's one (I actually got another (realy faded) one from 1980) are more Jazzy. A warm sound with vintage output. The RI got a very modern sound, higher output with more mediums.

If you like tu play with high gain, the RI is better. With a little overdrive and for warm clean tone, the originals are better.

In fact, both are great :)

  • It's still silver because it's a 2007!

  • This is absolutely not a 2007. The 2007 is on another video and you can ear the difference between the two Tim Shaw and the 498T-490R pickups.

  • I've been wanting one of these for ages now. They 80's ones will cost way more by the time I could hope to afford one :(

    canihaveyours...?

  • This one is still "silver" and has not faded to the yellow all the Silverburst's finish goes to. It's also completely original with originals gibson Tim Shaw pickups.... So, it costs more than 3000 ;)

  • how much did it cost?
