I watched the whole video only to see you cut out the part when you took the chain off. My sprocket wont just slide off so i need to loosen the chain but dont know how!!! Good video anyhow... i'll figure it out. BTW 2007 R6 Put my foot on the rear break bent over the bike and with my breaker bar the nut came right off, it was almost to easy. I was prepared for a battle, but fortunately it wasnt that hard.
HAHAHA you have a potty mouth. Nice. Crazy ass canadians. Did you say z(ed)x6r? Also oot lol. Sorry I had to. But seriously beautiful bike and great vid. The lock washer dosnt have to be on a certain way unless the splines have 1 fat splint but thats obvious. Also you said you werent going to give the sizes but infact you did. HA!
god I remember when I did this on my SV. man that nut did NOT want to come off. I ended up putting all my weight on the back break and just giving it all I had to pop the nut and without a bar. lol that was a "fun" day!
Wow dude, I'm calling you "Teach" from now on! That was very good. VERY thorough. I was thinking, outside of loosening the bolts before the camera turns on, you could also speed up the wrench in post. I can totally see this as a hub for great resource vids on maintenance. Way ta go!
I'm far from a teacher, but there is SO MANY bad videos out there I felt obligated to put some better info out.
Yeah I wanted to speed up the wrench but it sounds so cool and makes me look pro...LMAO
These videos are so hard to do because of all the elements. You got to be camera man (good angles), lighting man (no shadows etc..), try to cover every aspect, speak in a fun and educational manner, give tips and actually do the work
sorry dude but I am still laughing at your frustration with the sprocket nut. I noticed the knuckle blood on your hand. the sign of someone loving what they are doing. Keep it up. What chain oil are you using cause all the gunck is from your chain oil
@WildBill1006 ...glad my pain is your pleasure there Bill.....LMAO
Knuckle blood not the most professional, but I like to get my hands dirty.
Actually the reason for the gunk is my side mounted oil filter located just to the side of that sprocket nut. Sometimes when doing an oil change air gets locked in the filter, and you have to "burp" the filter which gets a little messy.
I only use chain wax....that shit dries real nice.
It is one of the biggest pain in the ass filters there is !!!
@WildBill1006 I couldnt help but laugh either. When i changed the 2002 r1 sprockets and chain, the front countershaft nut was quite easy to remove, and if i remember correctly (this was back in 2008) that it was only 60 or so pound feet to torque it back down. And the rear sprocket nuts were 108 lbs ft. I am dreading my zx10r's change, tho i only have 13,000 on it now.
And even with chain wax, there still is a lot of gunk built up in behind that cover.
@thebestnodought .....think they have gorilla's working the lines at the factory. I had the whole rear of the bike in the air completely off the stand and shaking the bike using it's own weight to apply downwards force, when it finally broke free.
Thankfully the bike landed back in it's stand, hope you have good luck with your 10R.
@wedginator ....I was thinking of you the whole time, and how you said it wasn't too bad in your video ...LOL
I had the entire rear of the bike lifted off the stand in the air with me when it broke loose. Lucky for me it went right back into the stand. You were so lucky man.
Great so far! After loosening the front sprocket nut, I like to crack open the rear sprocket nuts as well before I remove the chain and rear wheel...makes it much easier.

BTW - 2005 sv 650 needs a 32 mm socket
chasein3d 11 months ago
@chasein3d ....yeah it sure can be a pain for some of us.
32mm is the same as mine, and I think the most common size for all sport bikes.
Thanks for watching and your comment man :)

@DarkFlightVlogs Yeah Kawi's are notorious for having the wrath of god on those countershaft sprocket nuts! I wonder why that is?

@lampingromeo ...thanks for the tip, I've seen someone do that actually.
It makes sense so maybe I'll give it a try next time.
Although they are quite simple to crack, especially after I powered off that front bastard.....lol.
