  • wonderful film - it has so many great memories for me :)

  • It's a real shame about half the cast of Godspell is deceased. RIP.

  • I LOVED IT! and I stumbled across it watching song by Godspell.. I love that movie.. and I'm not Religious. I have my Faith, my hopes, my dreams and my wishes.. I am a spiritual peace maker. Thank you for this, I love that song as a child

  • What in the world is wrong with "coming off as religious"???

my gosh... our whole existence is devoted to bridging the gap to the Divine... why do you apologize for that?

I don't know this song, but it's wonderful...

God bless you, you silly silly person....

  • Have you seen the whole movie? Godspel mens somehow enchanted by God, or captivated by God. I am not sure how to say in English.(I am brazilian) But I do pray that you keep on working for eternity, as you post small portions of the KINGDOM OF GOD. May He shine upon you all His light, love and care.

  • Don't apologize for something coming out as "religious." I actually hate that word, because that just means that you do something the same way over and over again. You can be religious, and not have a relationship with God, which is what I used to do. Other than that, I LOVE this song. I am currently playing the Jesus character in the production.

  • What a pretty song! How lovely it refers to "Godspell" so gently and reverentially.

I am always amazed and pleased how Y/T posters mix intent with appreciation.

    :)

  • So do I.

Thanks for the vid. A real dream.

  • @pattylibraia It is profoundly sad that these days are gone forever. We

wont see days (era) like this again in our lives. We can enjoy the bright side of life

and the beautiful things. It seems like a dream and in some ways it was. The innocence is gone it seems to me...maybe it was never truly there.

Jerry Garcia put it this way; "The door seemed to swing open for a second than it slammed shut".

I'm a dreamer and a realist at the same time.

  • Hey,Yoozuk,ya got that right,Vatican would do well to watch this fantastic musical theatre, they could learn something!

  • Both this song and the movie remind me of church camp from my youth. Such spirit and love...

  • Seltzer, I love your site.

  • its lovely, and each person should take away from it what they will. i am so glad i came back to see this, i really needed it!

  • This song seems to fit in just perfectly with the movie.

  • This is the sweetest jesus! I just love this musical so much! There is more meaning in this show than in the Vatican rooms!

  • This is my favorite musical. I went to see it in Torrance, California last year and it had a wonderful setting. I think it is a musical that should go with whatever th e trend is.

  • this is such a cute videio

  • sorry-slayed his name-sitting in the dark here :o/

  • have you seen victor berber lately? He's in Eli Stone on ABC... :o)

  • Several of these frine performers have gone on, but I still see Victor Garbor in many things.

  • I hadn't realized he passed away - so sad. He was wonderful in Godspell! Thank you for posting this - great song as well! :o)

  • very great!

  • is this from godspell

  • The movie? yes. The song? no.

  • @SeltzerAddict No, this is not from Godspell the movie, which was released in 1973. The song was produced and first performed by singer-songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins in 1995.

  • @PacificTigersFan I know that. I grew up with both. :P I never said it was from the movie.

  • @SeltzerAddict All is good - great song! I was just replying to the thread where aprilshowers495 asked "is this from godspell?" and you replied "The movie? yes. The song? no". I mistakenly took that to mean you were saying the song was in the movie but not the play. Now I understand you were saying the background video was from the movie but the song was not in the movie. I just saw Godspell the play for the first time in a college production at University of the Pacific - I loved it!

  • OH MY GOSh this is really good I was raised on musical and Godspell was one of my fav ones. I like this a lot it brings back happy times

  • I grew up with a mother who was a literal hippy. In our nomadic lives, with all the people coming and going, the communes, the partys, the victorian homes with walls painted purple and yello, one thing always rang through, her involvement in the new kind of church we went to and their precise reproductions of Godspell. When ever I hear the songs or see the film, I literally cry for those days of sweetness and innocence. Thank you for mixing my today with my yesterday.

  • I didn't think I was going to like this, but before I was a minute into it, I found myself loving it :-). Very interesting idea and you laid the Godspell scenes wonderfuly over Sophie. Now, you have to get better video editing equipment so you don't have to shoot the TV screen and you will be "Hell on Wheels". Keep up the great work!

  • What a beautiful marriage of music and video...even though the song was written many years after the 1973 film Godspell. Thank you for this! It could almost be a tribute to the sweet, childlike, adorably talented Merrell Jackson (the guy w/ the fro!) who died in 1991 at the tender age of 39. I wish I could find "All Good Gifts" on here, as Merrell was the lead singer for that. "February" is mentioned in these lyrics, which is the month that Merrell "woke up happy" in the Savior's arms.

  • Cool I have never seen the film for Godspell but I did the show professionally. I was Peggy and we didn't do it as if we were clowns which is how it is meant to be done. We reversed it and we wore loads of old fashioned gothic clothes and jewlery and a gothci stage and a cross cage which rose above the stage for the crucifixtion.

  • This was adorable!

  • Thank you for reminding this movie!

  • Thank you for this. It says to me with the song spiritual awakening, friendship, love, caring, and kindness. No one is better than another we are the same and friends are everywhere if you want them to be. We all should look after one another.
