What I love most about Kirsty is her tough, no BS attitude. Just look at her face at the end of the movie when she tells Pinhead to "Go to hell!!" That was epic.
can somebody help me with this? at 6:28 what does the female cenobite say? Kirsty says, "You can all go to hell.." And then Female says," We can't...." what was that? "We can't. Not alone.."?? is THAT what she says?
because kirsty kind of looks like winona ryder, whenever i see this scene i always think this looks like a jacked-up version of Girl, Interrupted. LOL i also think: that leather they're wearing is probably made out of human skin. >.>
I don't understand why they bothered over-dubbing the English language with generic American accents, that's so retarded. It's poorly done too. Fuckin' Pinhead has a British accent, why didn't they just leave it ALONE?!
When I saw this in the theatres-when that baby started crying peopel literally ran out of the theatre. IThat was the first time I'd ever seen that happen, it made the film even more frightful and tempting...I knew I was seeing something forbidden and dangerous. It still gives me chills...
Fuck this scene is so fucking intense I can't stop laughing, they play so serious lol hahaha and that quote ''We'll tear your soul apart'' almost you forget they are just human actors playing demons... Lol
Music Composer and Conductor Christopher Young does a masterful soundscore in this segment which is my favorite all time horror sound score. This is absolutely a wonderfully orchestrated music and effects that I have ever heard.
The reason that "Hellraiser" is so memorable is simply for this scene at 5:53 - 7:40 . The Cenobites are so gloriously over-the-top, that I can't help but laugh at some of the lines delivered. No offence to the actors, of course, they're taking it very seriously, and that makes it so memorable.
I feel a bit bad saying it though, 'cause the girl really is giving a great performance, it's just the Cenobites make the scene almost as amusing as it is intense.
here's a fun fact, according to a Q&A session with Doug Bradley and Simon Bamford, it was revealed that the Female Cenobite had been dubbed "DeepThroat" by the film crew, which could not have been shown in the credits for reasons of decency.
If you can find a copy of the remix of the song Happiness in Slavery off of Nine Inch nails album Fixed (there is a copy floating around youtube) and you start it at about 1:23 on this clip (or just the moment when kristy touches the door in the hospital, then the result is a mash-up that pink blows pink floyd's darkside of the moon/ wizard of oz mash-up out the water. Seriously it is almost perfect!
This movie is very violent, and has a lot of adult content in it, but you know what it still holds up as a great horror film. It has a different feel to it. I remember watching this one and the sequel, Hellbound, and they just seemed like very epic horror movies, and Pinhead just makes every movie epic with his acting, To be honest, I am surprised that he never got a nomination for best supporting actor because I think that he is that good!
In mortal life she was a nun (as you obviously know) who was into a lot of kinky sex practices. She is probably "fingering" herself, at the throat now instead of "downstairs." The slit throat was the box's way of forever reminding her of the perversity which landed her in this condition. Grace Kirby in this role, creeped me out worse than the others. The Barbie Wilde portrayal (part two) was lacking something; Kirby in this role is genuinely scary; the face, voice, moaning...
to think that this was her first movie

I appreciate how Pinhead's(or at least his actor's)acting slowly goes from sort of robotic to authoratative and menacing!

"You've done this before right!?"
Many...Many times....
As if this has become mundane to him :)
