Great exhaust, I have slp loudmouths and I love em! Take a look at my video of me doing a launch with these things on my mustang. Called 2007 Mustang GT SLP Loudmouth Launch, as of right now it's the second video from the top in the related videos section on the right.
@EXiS091 no thats just what cars do if you dont let them warn up a little first. which i wouldv'e done considering the quality of the car and the care he seems to have for it. putting on the exaust and all....
i had an 89 mustang that i dropped a 347 into and it sounded amazing...nothing could compare lol. now i have a 2006 gt and i want it louder of course. looking at tons of videos for the slp loudmouth...but i'm afraid i won't like the way it sounds. i mean im only listening to it thru a video but it sounds like theres a lot of backfiring...i don't wanna sound like a riceburner popping left and right..
thats sick, i was thinking of getting dual slps as well, i want the loudness and aggressive sound it has too but im afraid i'd get pulled over or get complaints about it. have u ran into any problems such as those?
I never got pulled over when I had the mustang with or without the SLP's. It is definitely loud though - I had a neighbor complain to me one time, but I was also revving the engine to show it off to a friend at the time. Other than that, no one has confronted me at least.
Also, a custom exhaust should be accompanied by an intake/tuner package. Brenspeed intake/tuner packages highly recommended & should always accompany a change to custom exhaust, even if 'just an axleback-only'.
That isn't a custom exhaust. Changing the mufflers in no way requires a tune on an otherwise stock mustang. The car runs just fine and loses no power (nor does it really gain any) if you have an axle-back.
The popping occurs no matter what the engine temperature is. I just happened to not care at all what happens to that car since it was under warranty and I had no intent of keeping it beyond the warranty. I sold it last December with 8 months of warranty left.
@Way2Digital thats soo funny i thought the same thing, my mustang gt backfires soo bad when its cold. Nice roush mustang i see you have there, that thing screams.
make the engine exhale better first by putting an exhaust on then upgrade your engine for more air/fuel intake . I think i would install an exhaust before i put a supercharger or anything like that onthe engine ..thats how engines get fucked up
Mine is just an axle-back that removes the mufflers. SLP also makes headers and crossover pipes, so it is possible the one you drove had other SLP parts.
Exhaust is one of the most overrated things you can do with these cars. I bought an 08 Gt/Cs and hooked it up with a Steeda Cold air intake, Steeda underpully, BBK throttle body, 4.10 gears and a dyno tune. The car will fly.
nice sounding stang man,,, just asking out question for everybody i have a catted bassani midpipe and a magnaflow catback i dnt think its as loud as i want it. i wana go with slp loudmouths u guys think its a good idea? or also thinking of going from a 2.5'' to 3'' with the slp loudmouths let me knw wat u guys think.
SLP=SOUNDS LIKE PISS!!!Sounded better stock..i hate the pinging distorted sound of glass packs..nothing like a 2 chamber muffler. The tips look good but they have been known to crack..But hey!its a GM product so you know it won't last..lol.
99-04 vs 05+ sound is a matter of opinion. I believe many of us are custom to the new edge 99-04 and even 88-98 mustang sound. I believe that with right exhaust set-up, the 05+ mustang captures the sound from late 60s and early 70s more than the 99-04 mustang does.
The SLP LM's are fantastic. They sound awesome on a cold rev (lots of blow-back), and really mellow out once the engine warms up...except when you're at WOT making heads turn haha.
at first i thought the stock mufflers were his slp's cause i was reading comments when the vid started and didnt see the message, i was like this guy got ripped off, but then i heard the real slp's
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
maybe its ur camera but that sounds like shit. after he revs it really high it sounds like the bowl of rice crispies i have every morning. *snap* *crackle* *pop* type sound.
I liked the stock sound better. But hey I am 51 years old. When I was in my 20's the louder my car was the better now I like the sophisticated factory sound. I guess thinks do change when you get older. You better save the factory exhaust for when you are older. lol
I kept the factory exhaust so I could return it to stock when I sell it. I figure I'll be able to sell it easier for the reasons you said. I also kept it for inspection time, because if the guys want to be sticklers for the rules, I will not pass without mufflers...
I had the same thing you do at first, but I thought it was too quiet. So I added an x-pipe with high-flow cats, and it's just loud enough (without cats it would be stupid loud).
hey man you have the same rims as mine, not very common rims choice, i just love them, imo they are the best stock rims ford has for the stangs. my favorite ones were the cobra ones, but when i went to pick up my stang at the dealer, i saw them side by side with a cobra and i knew my choice was better hehe
Nah not really. Maybe a couple ponies, but the stock exhaust system flows really well so there is very little performance benefit to putting on any exhaust system.
The only way to gain HP with an exhaust on these S197 mustangs is to add longtube headers and x or h pipe with highflow cats or no cats (offroad pipe). Better flowing mufflers will help too but the biggest gains will come from the other exhaust parts. Of course you'd need a tune with all of that too. :)
A good intake (like C&L or JLT2), longtubes X/H pipe along with a tune turns these cars into a whole different beast. Add the 4.10 gears and the accelreation and power reaches a whole new level. Say hello to 12's, and 0-60 in the 4.6 - 4.8 range. Yum!
add a stage 3 roushcharger to that and it will at least keep up with a vette..... if not eat them alive... i plan on gettin me one when i get back from training and right now im lookin around for my options on modifications.
A bolt on 08 Vette can run about 12 flat, they are fast. Go with the intercooled whipple. It ia a better supercharger package than the Roush by far, better power potential, more efficient rotor system and sounds better too. And I think it's the same price.
Not to diss the person that posted this video, but its jus my opinion that all the SLP systems are is LOUD. They really don't sound that great. Count me as an ol school flowmaster fan.
SLP was developed for GM cars and then later retrofitted to Ford. I still can't tell why anyone likes them, but to each his own. Nice ride man, my neighbors hate me too.
probly the loudest, most obnoxious exhaust set up you can get would be LT's, o/r x-pipe, and LM's. mine is almost that except i got Mac boomtubes instead of the LM's w/ LT's and o/r x pipe. the boomtubes are pretty similar to LM's but the boomtubes are not as loud. LM's and Mac boomtubes are both muffler deletes.
why do people call them boomtubes, are they really that loud?? i like slp i just never heard how loud they were in person, can you try and tell me how loud they are, im thinking of getting an 04 cobra or a new gt and kenne bell it to have the same performance as the cobra. but what is the LOUDEST, most piss-off-your-neighbors exhaust out there for the new GT
The loudest axleback exhaust system I know of is the SLP Loudmouths. Since they are straight up muffler deletes, it is basically as loud as you can get without changing anything else. My neighbor already got pissed off at me (for taking this video) because its loud. Very loud at cold start, but warm idle, its not bad. Cruising it isn't terribly loud either, but when you stomp on it, it screams. I have a hard time thinking of anything to which I could compare it, but it is LOUD!
As far as supercharging a new GT, look at the FRPP supercharger - it'll bring you to that same performance level, and if you get it installed with delivery, you'll keep a good portion, if not all of your warranty.
oh so ford can install the supercharger for you? isint it a whipple supercharger? because ive seen them with the ford racing symbol on the side. so i guess SLP is the way to go for these new stangs
