  • The song can mean whatever people want it to mean but John actually wrote it about his daughter Jamie - 'Your distant sun will shine like the gun that's trained right between your daddy's eyes'.

  • greg lake i believe in father christmas

  • cris, vc é um fofo, que música linda.

  • Oh, my! Oasis ripped the roses so much. Yet, Oasis think they're better...

  • This is a beautiful song for those loved ones who've left us. I played this on loop when driving back to the UK upon hearing of my Dad's death. I could feel him with me, somewhere in the air, near me. Tnx the Roses.

  • like Beatles....:))

  • Sublime

  • its a good thing that this album wasnt luvved up by the music press and the rest of the media, cos now as people listen to it again, or for the first time, its being recognised as a roses masterpiece. i wouldnt put it past them to bring out a third album in 2012 if they decide to get back together.

  • @horse69outside

    mate, ur a genius ;-)

  • I found this album yesterday. Cool !!

  • @everuck Yesterday? where have you been:L

  • this whole album was ment to be for a child squires knew but squire walked out on him and he just couldnt get forgiven for abandoning him when he needed him the most. people say its his led zep album but its ment to be his guns n roses use your illuion album

  • @bloodyalisa What?

  • This song was written for me when my dad was killed. My mum and Dad were close friends with them.. :) beautiful. Peace.

  • Sublime album.....what more could the stone roses do after their first???

Bad timing and bad attitudes are the only reasons this was not accepted as it should've been!

  • Life is wonderfull...I have never heard that song befor today....15 years later....WOW!

  • amazing, after i thought the second coming was shite

  • great album

  • this album was years ahead of its time it sounds better every time i hear it

  • bliss.... class at its best ..

  • love this, roses at their best, this album stands up against any of the rubbish thats put out today..

  • I thought it was about a girlfriend who had been abused by her father.

  • @1safestar or not. You didn't write it.

  • @wonderwall4355 You're right. It was my interpretation.

  • @Mudman1881 Totally agree Bud.

  • this is fookin ace, not one of literatures heavyweights me, by a long chalk but it should be known far and wide this song is MEGA. take care folks

  • amazing song!! love it!

  • A bold statement I know, but I reckon this tune beats Lennon's 'Beautiful Boy' (Darling Boy) for a father's song for his son. Thoughts?

  • @stonedrose1 None here.

  • no....not in my opinion anyway, beautiful boy is a classic! though i love the stone roses :)

  • fuckin mint! sounds quite like the beatles

  • @englishnbloodyproudo hows it like the beatles? Oasis ripped this song so much. But thts what oasis do - steal and be unoriginal.

  • @elephantstone24 Wow I made that comment a year ago! I just think its got a Beatlesy vibe to it man, the only thing remotely Oasis about it I think is Ian Browns singing, the actual guitar playing and drums and ting is proper Beatlesy, but thats just my opinion mate, its got that sorta vibe when the Beatles went less poppy and more Psychedelic!

  • @englishnbloodyproudo. I agree, it does sound very late Beatles, like something off the white album. But I don't think it's a deliberate attempt to sound like The Beatles, that's just how it came out. Still an awesome song, one of many from a vastly under-rated album.

  • Such an underrated album !

  • How can a man that can write songs like this ever get the nickname of "Ice Cold Cube"?!

There is so much soul in this song, so much love... John Squire is a legend!

  • squire is a fukkin genius

  • and another thing...John Squire deserves to be in the company of David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Bryan May etc. He is one of the greatest guitarists to ever bless us with his music.

  • Great tune.......the intro sounds hugely Pink Floyd influenced! and when ya have the Stone Roses and Pink Floyd mixed..that can only lead to perfection!

  • Beautiful.

  • aye ,john squire wrote it for his son ,,,end lyric thats trained right between your daddys eyes ...

    u get me blud

    info mania man

  • @misplacedmind For his daughter actually. He didn't have a son back then.

  • i came across this by 'accident' - i'm not a Stone Roses fan - but i have to admit........it's a beauty !!!

  • this song sounds best when its cranked right fuckin' loud. sick song, love it

  • There's only a few songs I love on Second Coming, and this is one of them.

  • no no no you gotta love second coming

i think it leaves their self titled in the dust considering most of the latter is alot of pop

    still good

but not nearly as kick ass

  • the world was a better place when the stone roses and radiohead reigned. the rest are just playin at it. that was when we were at our best. no one can touch the genius that happened then. please comment back. i think im right.

  • 2nd coming is fabulous

  • One of the greatest inspiring songs ever written. Thanks Ian.

  • John wrote it!

  • John Squire wrote it, not Ian

  • Didn't know that, thanks for the info man!

  • You're most welcome

  • your star will shine again one day

    Through deep blue velvet skies

Shine for all the world to see

    The universe in your eyes

    Pure gold

  • This song was played at my stillborn baby nephew's funeral..I think its beautiful, as he was :)

  • That's so sad :(

Hopefully it was a fitting tribute.

  • i dont know how you coped with such an ordeal let alone his parents god bless him

  • Touching mate... I sing Roses songs to my little lad all the time. He's only 11 months old and goes nuts for it. I know Im b;essed and reading that while listening to this, makes me feel it all the more... Thanx and sorry. X

  • @jasej7 That's beautiful,

  • @jasej7 Honestly, I will strive to remove any link between your comment and my joy when listening to this song. Sharing this with the world is absolutely unnecessary.

  • second coming was a good album, it just suffers sooooooo much by comparison.

  • makes for a perfect follow up to 'don't stop'

  • Beautiful, listen to this song while watching your children sleep. The Roses rule.

  • Peado

  • hermosa cancion, gracias UK por otra gran banda de rock.

  • Second Coming had moments of beauty- this was one of them.

  • pure gravy!
