Martin van Drunen is definately my favorite death metal vocalist...even better than Tardy and Schuldiner in my opinion. All greats...but my personality favorite goes to Drunen.
i still remember the day i bought consuming impulse vynil, back in 1990 (i guess). one of my favourites of all time. music today really sucks compared to this golden age.

This is so Madonna. Not the music - which is so groovey and great - but the title. Chronic infection. That is what you get when dabbling with The Qabbalah and its rogue co-creator.
Pestilence's hometown Enschede(NL) is not too far from here. I liked their first real album Malevs Maleficarvm, and loved Consuming Impulse!! I believe Pestilence was there from the start in the undrground, same era as Death. Same style of music, but totally different bands. btw, Patrick Mameli(leadguitar) has a new band, called C187. Check their Myspace and get wrecked by their mindblowing music \m/
This band is a total copy of DEATH and Possessed, anyway they are ok but people who doesn't know better or older band always say dumb stuff, anyhow death!
deadhouse is just another insecure elitist metalhead. All he has to say for himself is "wow, look at me, I liked and bought spheres when it came out." wow...what an achievement. I'm a longtime "metalhead" and I'm mature to realize that poser realy shouldn't apply to people actually being themselves, without anything to prove, but to elitist jerkoffs who need to feel better about themselves by proving how metal they are.
lol i wasnt listening to death metal when spheres came out. i didnt change sides because of everyone else i genuinely like spheres. i love every pesti album however
Consuming Impulse is Pestilence's best album, it was while they were still brutal and heavy , once Testimony came out and they were w/o Martin Van Drunen the band just went to shit.
"Consuming Impulse" is, with no doubts, one of the best LP in metal history. "Testimony..." is not as good, but I still like it, especially when compared to "Spheres", which is completely different.
By the way, in this gig, they do play an early version of the song "Testimony", and it's really brutal.
I wont go all out and say Testimony has terrible, it did have some songs I liked but they lost their sheer intensity and brutality after Consuming Impulse.
If it wasnt for Consuming Impulse I never wouldve gotten into Death Metal in the first place so that album will always be held in high regards since I consider it to be a Masterpiece!
Funny how magicaly everyones favorite Pestilence album is Spheres. It so funny to see poser comments like this, yeah buddy, everything in hindsight is 20/20 isnt it? NOBODY liked Spheres when it came out, only latly since its the "cool" album to like are posers claiming to love it, when in fact it was considered a big pile of shit for so many years...
What? I enjoy all their albums but i like testimony and spheres more than the other 2 but I think martin is a better vocalist then mameli...Spheres was so original and fucking different and was so creative...shut the fuck up...poser comments? go suck your dads dick
Funny how elitists claim to be true fans of a band. I'm new to Pestilence myself, and I enjoy all the albums really, but Spheres is definately my favorite album, because it's so fusional/experimental as opposed to the ir other albums. And honestly, people who coin and use the term "poser", are posers themselves, or just really narrow-minded. Sorry budy, the entire world doesn't revolve around you. If you can't accept some of us are new to Pestilence, go cry yourself a river with Mr. Timberlake.
I bought spheres when it cames out with Believer and Cynic (the new breed of roadrunner) and was amaze by spheres.. nobody likes it only me.. I still consider one of my favorite album ever with Kreator - Renewal which was so original too!!!! I hate bands who repeat themselves like slayer and acdc.. (excuse my english, im french)
I am also new to Pestilence and I agree with everything Stricker said. My favourite Pestilence album is Spheres. To call someone a 'poser' for liking an album that wasn't very popular when it was released is just fucking rediculous. Using the term 'poser' shows how stupid some people are.
Just lately it's become cool? So what's wrong with that now? After x number of years, albums are considered uncool towards mr. deadhouse, and all he says, and all of what old Pestilence fan say, is true. The term poser was invented by people that won't accept people sharing musical interests in themselves. It's pathetic, and just plain stupid.
hah he almost played the solo too early . sick ass video...!!
