  • I liked the version I did at the University of Georgia better. I had famous actor Brian Reddy. I played the role of Bert even though I'm about 5 years older than him =D

  • thank you for your in depth performance analysis, but in a three-sided thrust stage someone's back is always going to be facing the audience at any given time.

  • Don't turn ur back to the audience!

  • i'm playing kate/mother for my exam piece....not easyy :/

  • Great job guys ....we are studying this paly in my theater class...Great Job Guys

  • everyone seemed to like it this way- would love to see your university's version to compare.

  • My University Theater department is doing this play now...This part of the play is difficult...it might have been better if the tempo was faster, if the volume increased, and etc.

  • Hey, i just wanted to say kudos to chris! i'm playing chris in my high schols version of all my sons and i couldnt quite get this scene right but after watching this i got a few pointers and i'm locking it in! so thank you random chris man

  • Shit, do I really sound like that?

  • I am not mean, I am just passionate and therefore I must be realistic. Hats off to those kids though for trying their hardest. I always can appreciate hard work.

  • @gohuckyourself21 i must disagree. i think it is a quite powerful rendition of this very challenging scene and when you realize that these two young actors were only 17 years old- it is really quite exceptional.

  • @owilde1 well i am glad that you feel that way. If it were not for people like you young potential actors would not ever find their passion and have the courage to keep trying. It is just my opinion that it is not very good. I did Hamlet my senior year of high-school. Did I love doing it? Yes. Did I do the best I could at the time? Yes. Was it exceptional? No. Perhaps it was impressive for my age but it wasn't amazing (as much as I would like it to be).

  • Great acting.

  • man these guys are good actors

  • Great job on chris

  • im doing this at my highschool and i play Joe, i really enjoyed watching this

  • Oh my god so good!!! All of you guys! We did this last year at my high school and I played chris, and this has got to be THE hardest scene ever!! You guys nailed it great job!

  • i think i just fell in love with chris.

    really good scene!!!

  • We're doing this in my senior production class right now, and I know how tricky this play can be to perform. I thought it was pretty good. However, I found it very distracting to have Chris stumbling around the stage.

  • To the actors in this video. Well fucking done! I am performing as Chris in a stage production right now and I know exactly how tricky but exhilarating this piece can be. BRAVO!!

  • thanks for the positive response.

  • HA HA HA HA wow okay all those guys who are criticizing this need to SHUT THE FRIG UP IN THERE!

I personally thought it was a pretty good show first one i've seen so far, i'm reading this play for drama class and i wanted to see how it would be acted out. good job, keep it up!

  • thank you.

  • I forget sometimes that children on YouTube post their amatuerish "drama class" videos for one reason: They strictly want to be praised. Therefore, I find it ironic that my initial comment on your vide started with my thank you for posting a neat video. Whenceafter, I just imparted a little though, and afterthought. Just a bit of an idea from someone who has been there, and cares, and wants to see other young people take the craft seriosuly. Instead you proved yourself immature, and recoiled.

  • you certainly got me there momma, (hope the typos were at a minimum for you).

  • Thanks for posting this: One thought--sometimes constant yelling gets a little old. Drama, stress, sadness, a whole range of emotions one typically thinks best conveyed through hysterics can be better translated on stage via timing and tempo--picking the high points, the low points, and potential throw-away lines. One of the best "tricks" can be to deliver a line completely different than you naturally think.

  • one of the best "tricks" of dramatic criticism is to try not to be as pompous as possible.

  • Aha! Defensive-much?! I get paid to teach acting at univeristy. I also act for a living. It has been a great living too. What do you do? Oh yeah....you berate every comment on your stupid little video. Enjoy yourself.

  • i'm sure your students have benefited greatly by your insight and "tricks",

  • Why yes they have, as I have I. Incidentally, your English teacher apparently has failed you, as a student. One ends a sentence with period not a comma. Good luck with your fledgling pursuits. I'm sure you'll have much luck with amateur theatre, etc.

  • i hope i have better luck with my typos and you have the best of luck with your self-important pomposity.

  • A drama geek that is also a self-important blow-hard??

    wow...

    so rare...

    no really...

    mmmhmm

  • This is the shittest play ever

  • thanks so much for the insightful comment.

  • Thank you for the generic sarcastic reply

  • chris is strong

  • oh, i like this.

  • Do you have the next scene of this?? It was fantastic and I want to see more. :)

  • great acting!! the guy playing chris is awesome!!

  • the interaction between chris and joe...it was intense, yes...but, it seemed a little too much like the tv movie...idk, james whitmore and aidan quinn moved and sounded the same way; even the pauses were very very similar...you did a pretty good job, don't get me wrong, but i felt like it was missing some originality....thank you very much for sharing; this is a wonderful play by a wonderful author...

  • fabulous

  • The guy playing Chris sounds just like Tobey Maguire. Great acting by everyone.

  • Is this really a just a high school performance???!!!

This is AMAZING for high school!

  • Took the words out of my mouth :)

  • very good. I did "AMS" for AS English last year and it's much more interesting seeing it acted out rather than on a page =]

I read out the Jim parts, totally suited me...

  • i'm doing it now, it doesn't sound the same in english voices, does it?

  • Way to go! Bravo!
