  • My corazon is right.....

  • Joe Strummer speaking in French *.*

  • Poor Lorca the crime was in Granada in his Granada.

  • Oh my corrazon...

  • Mick Jones rules!!!!!

  • Sounds like he"s dedicating the song to his grandfather?

  • Oh, quand il parle en français ♥ Dommage que je n'étais pas née à se moment là.

  • Joe speaks english, spanish and french on this video lol

  • @GAWM1 Which part was English?

  • Espero que tanto el profesor de español de Strummer como el de francés fueran puestos a buen recaudo.

  • joe speaking wing wong ballox...lol

    Still class.....

  • joe speak french so what!lol.joe était très ouvert et cultivé...

  • is spanish

  • I don't speak frog, but if it was important enough to say in French, it can only mean one thing. So okay Joey, we accpet your terms of surrender.

  • Very cool song!

  • RIP Joe Strummer

  • How I wish I could've seen them live... but Joe died when I was 8! Life is unfair...

  • those were the days, coz today's music is full of styles, fashion, got no attitude!!

  • Como cambian en concierto! pero siguen siendo grandes!

  • I love Joes white Esquire, not as much as I love the Tele, but i do like it

  • @PBANDSNOW Unfortunately the Esquire got smashed later. Joe really regretted about it.

  • @RaptureandZune When did Joe smash his Esquire? I hope you're not confusing it with Paul Simonon smashing his bass on the cover of London Calling (which he deeply regretted as well)...

  • @iwantcompletecontrol Around 1982 and 1983. Joe switched back to his signature Tele and used it until has death in 2002. (The Esquire became extremely worn towards the end of its life). I heard his from a thread about The Clash's equipments a few years ago.

  • @RaptureandZune Ah, okay, I see... Never heard that before, but I guess you learn something new every day! lol

  • @iwantcompletecontrol FYI, the smashed bass on LC cover still exists. It is on display at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame (commercial shit museum).

  • @RaptureandZune Yeah I've seen pics of that exhibit online before. I think it was only a temporary exhibit, though, and that it's back in Paul Simonon's possession at the moment. I'm glad it's still around lol

  • @RaptureandZune And yes, it is a commercial shit museum. Less than half of the inductees actually contributed anything to rock, and many of the inductees aren't even rock acts. Madonna? GROSS!

  • @iwantcompletecontrol They've got Madonna but not Link Wray. Tells you all you need to know!

  • I HATE PEOPLE THAT REMOVE MY IDEAS BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE POWER TO DO IT

  • I was born in the 93, I'm one of the last teenagers that know The Clash, and that's sad.

But I know That my sons would know them!

btw, I'm Spanish, and this song's incredible, my family suffered a lot because of fascism...

  • @ermyop I'm 1991, but I'll do the same with my kids. Not that I think The Clash are the best band ever. They are just The Clash. Not big, not small, nothing too special in general. That makes them really special :)

  • @ermyop Lo que nos quitaron en esa guerra fue el intento de vivir en Utopia,,

But don't fear, as long as the commercial shit pop exist, there will be punk or whatever good music that will oppose it

  • I never saw the Clash...but I saw Joe and the Mescaleros.

  • I can't even hear Joe's guitar or Paul's bass. This seems like a pretty uninspired performance from the boys that night. I know Spanish Bombs isn't a real rocker but Mick didn't really put a lot into this rendition either.

  • 追悼 Strummer

  • LOL@Joe... je te dire: chanter pour vos parents et mes parents.. Sing for your parents and my parents?... Mais oui Joe!

  • They were unbelievable LIVE! Saw them at Bond's in Time's Square. Blew me away!

  • Mick Jones is great! I mean his guitar licks...

  • chill out u posers punks dont yell at each other on youtube instead we go to war with chains and broken bottles in dark alleyways

  • @PunkymickBlah pfAAahaAHHA you posers are too fucking afriad to fight. dont make me laugh.

  • @liam69love i was being sarcastic numbnuts but kisses

  • @PunkymickBlah ... yeah cute.

  • nice one, Clash.

  • sick to death of all these green day comments, green day only dream of being real punks, they fucking suck, and always will suck, the clash still rock 30 + years on !!!!

  • The opening in spanish: "This is for your parents and my parents"

  • sounds like fat mike!

  • Clash kick´s ass

  • We need true music of the heart like this. I'm tired of corporate rockers, honestly. Green Day is shit, and a majority of punk bands besides The Exploited, Sonic Youth, Ramones, The Cramps, The Slits and all the CBGB bands sound so generic.

  • @skulldrix dude, london calling gave green day a job. corporate rockers? shouldn't you be on a university blog or something and not be on youtube? you're a hater, and i understand where you're coming from, but you're confused. london calling got the clash rejected by many because it wasn't "punk enough" and much too "pop" (whoa, green day), I love all the other bands you listed, seen sonic youth live and was enthralled, but don't confuse loyalty with taste. just learn to love good f*in music!

  • best clash song

  • The drummer is always the last to be picked, although the clock that keeps the band going. (Sorry, Paul. Hope you're well, though!)

  • Lucky me :-)) I saw them twice,,,,

  • FUCK THE SPANISH DIDNT KNOW THEY BOMBED PEOPLE BLOODY CUNTS

  • @AlienBusDriver Fuck the british governement, they didn'y help the spanish republic!

  • @MrMelcior um who cares, the british governement did'nt hep the brits either, swtf?

  • @8mmh888 Whaaat?

  • Can I say epic ?

  • Spanish bombs motherfuckers!!!

  • Los ramones no les llegaban ni a la suela. Los sex pistols y ramones eran un rollo mucho mas egocentrico y comercial. Estos son lo mas grande

  • @Despanzurreitor CLARO SI ES LA UNICA BANDA QUE IMPORTA REBELDES DE VERDAD INSUPERABLES NO HABRA OTRA BANDA QUE LOS SUPERE SANDINISTA, LOMNDON CALLING, CUT THE CRAP, GIVE 'EM ENOUGH ROPE, COMBAT THE ROCK....ETC GENIOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS RAMONES TIENE COMO 3 TEMAS DE CALIDAS Y SEX PISTOL CON SUERTE 2

  • @noemella123456 no mames

  • @CadaverPsicotropical EN SERIO ESE ES TU ARGUMENTO JAJJAJA THE CLSH LA MEJOR BANDA LEJOS

  • @noemella123456 PIENSA UN POCO MEXICANITO PAIS DE RBD SU GRAN BANDA JAJAJ

  • the translation of Joe's French introduction of the song is :"I'm gonna sing for my parents and your parents!" Naturally, the subject of Spanish bombs is the facist revolution of Franco in Spain in 1936! The Clash still remains against any kind of facism all over the world; in the past, the present and the future.

  • two of my favourite songs, this and if you tolerate this by the manics, both about the war :/

  • Con The Clash y Strummer hasta la muerte.

  • i must of listened to this song around 30 times back to back coming come fuken hungover and sparking splifs to recover from it.

  • I LOVE

  • AWESOME, Joe speaking French! Now I've heard it all...

  • Comment removed

  • It's in Paris Imbécile!

  • Can Paul sling his bass any lower???

  • @clivetemple any lower and his boot laces get caught in the strings

  • Awesome, are you sure it wasn't spain? LOL

  • @animal90sFreak5 I speak french and i can say you that it wasn't spanish.

  • mejor epoca en musica y estilo.. y el sentido de urgencia de strummer

  • Spanish bombs !! Yo te quiero infinito...con mi corazón !!. Spanish bombs...in Andalucía !!

  • Comment removed

  • Monpère a été à ce concert :D

  • strummer speaking french???

  • ONELOVE!!!!!

  • it gets better every time I hear it.

  • was Joe saying something in FRENCH,in first part?

  • yes, he said something like "i would like to sing for your parents and for my parents now"

  • I love this band/song/album

  • i love the imagery that a Clash songs creates. enjoyable and interesting stories.

  • Bono from U2 said that after him and 3 mates saw the clash live they went home and started talking how they could create a band that also had meaning.

  • It sucks infinite amounts of dick that I was born too late to see them live. R.I.P. Joe Strummer.

  • @Ncjpr1993 lol

i must use that one time

  • @Ncjpr1993 such an odd comment.. either it is extremely insulting homophobic, a concept anathema to The Clash, or you really do not appreciate fellatio.. either way odd, unless I missed a subculture of people, mormons maybe, that oppose oral sex in general, cant believe this garnered all these thumbs ups, please conscious people thumbs up this or down that... read Orwell's "Homage to Catalonia"

  • @Ncjpr1993 they were amazing i was 12 when i saw them

  • @Ncjpr1993

It sucks infinite amounts that I was around then and missed my chance. Shit.

  • @Ncjpr1993 I was lucky enough to see The Clash summer 1982 and it was amazing. Still can't believe Joe Strummer is gone.

  • @Ncjpr1993 I was born in 1991, I share your pain!

  • @Ncjpr1993 atleast The music lives forever. I'm glad to see your musical tastes. It's pretty amazing how far technology has come so that Joe Strummer is frozen here in time. In the 19th century, you might not even one picture of yourself to be remembered in the future. Now we can see and hear someone's voice. Amazing!.

  • Clash is still very good band.

Im now almost 50 years old but when I was

young Clash and Sex Pistols were the best!

  • Did you get to see the clash and sex pistols live? I wish I could go back in time.

  • lol i saw sex pistols liv n im onli 16 haha

  • Oh, that's cool. I wish I could go see them. Only if I could make a time machine and see The Clash lol cause I'm only 18.

  • yeah since joe gone.... ye watchd them in M.E.N. like 2 yr ago

i wish i cud see sum bands that aint round no more... ramones wud be gud :)

  • Yeah, that's true. So many good bands that are gone. Only if there was as many good bands today.

  • u probably dont agree cos they changed..... but i went watchin green day cos they my fave band n got me into punk... n they put on such a gud show it was amazin... wanna watch rise against to .. but ye R.I.P. all punks greatest

  • Well, I was never a big green day fan, but I thought there first album was alright. But after that I never really paid attention to them. But yeah.. there is great bands out there.. in the underground scene and stuff. Just that there not really known. But yeah RIP to all punks greatest.

  • @rickypacino i wanna go back in time and see the ramones AND the clash in one gig... maaan that would be intense

  • lol now that wud be gud haha

  • @johnnybooda

    And don't forget The Damned!

  • @livingdeadpunk138 haha too right! The Damned seem to abit lost and forgotten it seems. Still an awesome band though!!

  • @livingdeadpunk138 they're still oing though, not quite as the used to be, but still going none the less.

  • I know exactly and feel the same as you.

  • Not the same man.

  • @psmainis61 and Ramones...

  • @psmainis61 they still are the best compared to the crap today

  • "Vendana" is on the lyrics, pero la palabra correcta, mis queridos compañeros es VENTANA jejeje

  • alguna vez yo vi no recuerdo bien en que pagina que decia vendetta y no le encontre sentido pues esa es una palabra italiana para venganza pero a lo grande o tal vez si tenga sentido despues de todo

  • love it when he sings 'rock the province' makes me think of rock the casbah everytime

  • Oh please leave the vendana open

Federico Lorca is dead and gone

  • It's "ventana"

  • you are right. I wrote it wrong :)

  • i think this song is one of the most creatives of the clash...especially because how they use of the words in the lyrics...did someone talk about garcia lorca in a song??

  • Reminds me of when they played this song on the London Calling tour

  • que poder este tema

  • yo te quiero infinito, yo te quiero oh mi corazón! the words of a rock god!

  • gernika volvera a arder, pero esta vez la hara arder el pueblo!!!

  • Wrenchingly beautiful, makes me mourn socialism's hope in the first half of the 20th century.

  • In fact, he says: " Spanish bombs yo te quiero i finito, no te cuerda, oh mi corazón". kkk

  • what does that mean?

  • If memory serves from when i traslated it the other day

"Spanish bombs, I love you infinitly, i love you, oh my heart"

thats what came up. hard to imagine actually...

  • he never said "no te cuerda" i speak spanish and he never said that... el dice YO TE QUIERO

  • According to the liner notes from the album the phrase was written in "Clash Spannish", and what they wanted to say was:

"I love you and goodbye!, I want you but - oh my aching heart".

  • Oh, I didn't know that. Thnx for sayin

  • Spanish bombs on the Costa Rica ???? jajajaj

  • I love how Mick's volume is screwed up during the first part, and then as soon as the second verse kicks in...bang.

  • yo te quiero infinitooo

yo te quiero, oh mi corazóónn

    best punk band.

    THE CLASH

  • what a beautiful song for a sad history...

  • I think this is the best Clash song- wonderful melody and clever lyrics- well done!

  • Que gran canción...nada más que decir...no me canso de oírla

    What a great song

  • Tremendous song. My favorite on London Calling and maybe my favorite Clash song. For younger listeners, google the Spanish Civil War and Frederico Lorcia, to give yourselves a better feeling for the depth of the lyrics.

  • The Spanish Civil War is a sad piece of history... Barcelona, the Anarcho-Syndical stronghold of Europe fell during that war. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed because they were left-wingers. Federico Garcia Lorca was murdered because he was gay. Spain, who had had one of the most perfect societies in Europe, at that time, was messed up by the terrorist Francisco Franco, and the US SUPPORTED HIM! That only shows the true face of the US: A FASCIST NATION!

  • lorca was gay?

  • Yes, he was homosexual. It is believed that because of his sexuality, he was murdered by the fascist side of the Gardia Civil.

  • thank to you i could answer the question: "what was the name of the poet killed on the civil war because of being homosexual" on my language exam, thank you very much!!

  • You're very welcome :)

  • Federico Garcia Lorca, its the name of that poet :)

  • he was free,

as a poet, as a human, as a republican,...

those freedoms were and are hated for all fascists

  • peaceful waters peaceful waters of the air

    under echo's branches

    peaceful waters of a pool

under a bough laden with stars

    peaceful waters of your mouth

    under a forest of kisses

  • @VivaLaSexPistols

Mussolini said that a better name for fascism would be corporatism ie reduce the power of the state while increasing the power of big business.

Reminds me of the mantra of US politics "Reduce the reach of government and let the 'free market' fix things. So yeah, you're right.

Sadly unfettered capitalism will inevitably lead to feudalism.

Welcome to the future, it's exactly like medieval times but with more gadgets!

  • @GustavMeyrink We have not had a real "free market" since 1913. I would say its more the Federal Reserve destroying the value of the dollar, killing the middle class that is making us modern day serfs with more gadgets.

  • luv this song<3

  • nice french joe :P

    rip to a legend

  • Love Mick Jones' guitar on this.

  • This song is abput spanish civil war

  • Why does he speak french at the beginning of this video ? IT was in France ?

  • it was in France (Paris) Joe said in French "i will sing now, for your parents and my parents".

  • Spanish bombs on the Costa Rica -!!!

  • se refiere a un litoral andaluz llamado costa rica (no a tu pais), por eso luego dicen costa brava

  • a Garcia lorca the clash saludos en youtube...la honorable sociedad

  • "Spanish songs in Andalucia

The shooting site in the days of '39

Oh, please leave the 'ventana' open

Federico Lorca is dead and gone ..."

Greetings from Spain and thank you so much Lkasflapytrs for this video. Back in 1982, Tom, my best American friend from Connecticut used to sing me all the time this song but my English was then so poor that I didn´t was able to understand the meanings of the lyrics, I just liked the song by itself.

  • (Part II)

A few years later I knew what The Clash were saying. The choice is clear: Either we fight FASCISM right now ( including the growing islamo-fascism) with all our power, or we will be the next ones on the ground with a policeman's knee on our throats and 50,000 volts of electricity coursing through our bodies.

Freedom is NOT free, we´ll always have to fight for it! Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference.

  • i've always loved this song. it gives all the innocent people killed by the fascist regime some dignity. thanks to the clash for this superb song and to you for posting this kind of footage

  • cojanes

  • learning this song on guitar. Will be the first song i ever learn. And what a song to make to make your first! A introduction to bar chords and such. I love how shit his vocals are live haha it gives me hope as a singer, seeing as hes one of the best frontmen ever

  • A wonderfull song.

Respect for all the people who fight for freedom or against fascism, opression.

    Power to the people!

  • Un poquito de respeto a los Clash chaval!!

Que coño importa como lo digan, lo que importa es el temazo que se tocan!!

  • Clash Rules!!!!!!!!!!!

  • utterly inspiring yet melancholic song!!!!!!! A rare beauty that never fails to move one!!

  • Salud, República y Memoria Histórica!!

  • Very nice song.Respect to the spanish brothers who died from freedom!Fuck fasists all over the world
