  • Do not oversimplify things, it might send u to a hospital getting treatment from someone with a PhD...

People giving advices and are not registered with a professional body will simply dissapear if something goes wrong...

  • 5 fatties disliked

  • Annnnnnd favorited.

Will be referring to this a lot.

    Thanks!

  • Rico is a Boss.

  • how big of a portion do split my food into?

  • @sochinese If you eat 3 times a day, split your regular food into 2 pieces, then you eat 6 times a day.

Also, I suggest that you guys wait 2 hours between every meal, for your teeth to recover.

  • Pre-med Biochem major Nutrition minor (actually called HERS but details). Listen to this guy =)

  • awsum :D

  • "Studies of humans with 100+ year life spans have shown a link to decreased thyroid activity, their resulting lowered metabolic rate is thought to attribute to their increased life expectancy."

  • Ketosis breath is disgusting.. :L

  • Since last May i've been working with a trainer and i'm down 50 lbs. I have some more to go. you gave some good advice, the only thing I'd add is that in addition to not drinking sugary drink you need to drink an appropriate amount of water. Water will help you loose weight, a rediculous amount though can throw you off though. Also too much sodium can hold you back too so watch the salt also. Look forward to the next one, I just subbed.

  • @RicoBrain So was specific foods do you reccomend?

  • ok here it is "they always put some "expert" to sell it to you guys. because if they have a PHD if they have some kind of a background if they are pers trainer, its str trainign, they been on TV they been in magazines chances are you are not gonna question them..." and so on "why question him but that's how company sell, if they simplify things they will never have business, so i am gonna cut out company and tell you exactly how to do this" and than the advice you give ppl is the most basic

  • @pahlan911 the advice you give is the most basic that requires no expertise and def has no product and it is not a big secret or mystery and you can get info like that and much more FREE on the internet. and if a person is not a lazy ass than he/she can go to a GYM and talk to a professional nutritionist and/or personal trainer and get x10 more useful information also FOR FREE. So plz don't trash on experts.

  • completely agree with you Rico, all of those products are just there for marketing profits. It's called media bias, we studied this today in english class.

  • Do you recommend protein shakes to along with weight loss? Also would trying to reduce body fat and build muscle conflict with each other?

  • @Tobi400400 Proteinshakes are decent, nothing you really need if you're just starting out. And if you're just starting out , losing fat and gaining muscle's isn't going to conflict "that" much. Obviously it's easier to gain muscles while gaining weight. But it's alot easier to lose fat and gain muscle's if you're just starting out.

  • Less carbohydrate

  • for those who want to go to the next step of healthy life / fitness.

    check out greg plitt.

    or gregplitt com

  • Hello Rico :) First allow me to impress my gratitude for you and Swifty's effort in combining a healthy living with gaming, and frankly when I see one of your videoes regarding exercise and healthy food I get all pumped, so my thanks to you both for inspiring me to train 5 times a week for one hour, maintaining my diet and i lost twelve kilos already, again, thank you sir!

  • Ah I have been using ketosis for the past few months :)

  • what should i eat for lunch at school that is healthy?

  • Thank you!!!

  • Rico sir, you are a wizard.

  • What would you recommend for a good workout for the abs?

What would you recommend for a good workout for the abs?

  • was also gonna say, people should try out my fitness pal DOT com because you can take control and accountability easy for the things that you eat and once you see how many calories and sodium you're taking in during the day you'll be surprised.

  • Any tricks if you DO have hypothyroid and take medication for it?

  • Which MultiVitamin do you take?

  • light cola is not better than coca cola stay away from soda. drink milk or water

  • Rico. What would you suggest I do if i want to gain muscle weight? as far as my diet? how often do i eat/how much do i eat/ect... AWESOME VIDEO BTW =D

  • @kcSwiz Workout

  • @Hellgoregaming i know this. and i workout 5 days a week

  • nice man good tips with out all those stupid gimmicks

  • where can i find the keychain?

  • @Rydal1 its not out yet... soon though =D

  • This is so true guys, metablism is the key to fat loss.

I had know idea Rico would understand this when i clicked on it,

    But bravo Rico :D

  • When I'm blitzed, I actually don't have an apetite. So, I remain blitzed if possible.

  • Replace

    Soda with Water.

    You will be surprised.

  • @foxsneeker That won't make you lose fat, that will make you lose water. Soda's are filled with sugar which makes your body retain fluid; giving the impression of fat.

  • @Hellgoregaming Sodas contains a lot of sugar, and if that sugar isn´t exercised away, it turns into fat...

  • @foxsneeker Does monster affect anything related to weight loss? =O

  • @foxsneeker Or just switch to sugar free soda's. And you'll get the same results

  • @Maso923 actually. you will not see the same results, as water cleanses your body and helps your body maintain itself better and it speeds up your metabolism

  • @Maso923 Sugar free soda`s has alot of aspartame mate.

if you having hard time drinking water you could just add som low no juice or something

  • @RotAndude And it has been proven over and over again that "fake" sugar isn't as dangerous as ppl think. if you'e weight is 132lbs , you can consume 5liters of sugar free soda without risking anything.

  • @Maso923 if it wasn't food a 100 years ago it isn't food now.

    - greg plitt

  • @RotAndude Well if it's a quote then it must be true!

In all seriousness I don't know of any food that wasn't a food 100 years ago, just because it wasn't widely eaten or produced doesn't mean it's not food.

  • @gamekidillon12 fish,meat,chicken and vegetables

  • @RotAndude Pretty sure fish and chicken are meat...

Besides, red meat isn't good for you. Lean meats are good, though.

  • God Rico, your such a fricken boss....

  • If I am on a simple diet, and I work out regularly, is it ok to drink a cup of coffee? Just one cup a day, will that make a difference?

  • I fucking hate diabetes man...

  • I always eat baked.

  • @Metrixxystem Lold

  • Subbed! Good job, keep it up. Cheers

  • 1st question: why dont you help your friend tenex lose weight then?

2nd question: is it possible to drink beer daily and lose weight?

  • @ObeseRacoon maybe tenex isnt interested yeez..

  • @ObeseRacoon depends how much is burned off but you have to control it because its actually healthy to drink beer daily if you drink 1 pint daily you reduce risk of heart diseases

  • you fat idiots want to know how to lose weight? you go outside and start running, push ups whatever, there is no magic to losing fat so you can gain that tub of lard again.

  • everything you said is spot on except that no amount of ab training is gonna get rid of belly fat, the only thing that will work is lowering your overall body fat percentage through proper nutrition and exercise

  • i already go to the gym, i just looked though ricos vids ^^

  • 5:08 i wanna eat nuts

  • ok, i'm going get fit this year, with Rico's diet and thanks to Swifty's skate vids, my bmx

  • you the man rico!

  • great job on the video! Keep the workout tips coming.

  • Mixing cottage cheese and yoghurt is a nice low cal breakfast

  • what kind of martial art did you (and your gf) learn ?

  • hey Rico ! any tips for a skinny guy ? Im currently 23 but Im one of those people who can eat a lot and can still stay skinny at the end of the month. I asked my mom and she said my dad used to be really skinny at my age as well. So I wonder is it just genetics or do I need to have much more nutritious food? Plz any help advice would be much appreciated :)

  • @zuuemudz You probably have a faster metabolism :) Do you also require less sleep than other people? That's what it's like with my friend.

  • @zuuemudz heighten your caloric intake, only way to increase weight is to give your body more calories than it burns, its that simple

  • @zuuemudz hey buddy. I am a personal trainer, believe it or not. And i actually specialize in skinny people. i was a skinny guy and a hardcore gamer my self b4 i got into serious weight training. Now i am 200lbs with 10% body fat. And my advice is consume A LOT of carbs(rice, pasta etc) and protein(beef, lamb!,chicken etc). have 4-5 full meals a day, but never forget veggies, sleep 8-9hrs a day AT NIGHT(11pm-7am). and START LIFTING WEIGHTS. and your body is gonna transform.

  • @zuuemudz OMG thats me too. I'm 6'3 and im 150 lbs (18 yrs old) I eat just as much as all my friends but i dont gain weight. my dad was the same until he started working out when he was in his early 20's, so thats what im going to do. i suggest you work out and you will start getting more hungry, and your body will gain muscle mass too. hope it helps :)

  • @zuuemudz eat more calories than you burn. Can't get any easier than that. What you think is "alot" of food Isn't enough since you're obviously not gaining any weight.

  • Hey hey, I do have Hyperthyroidism, Blah Blah, i will work out ever so often, heart rate high or not i dont care.

  • Great advice Rico! I feel it is important that people understand when they are marketed supplements and products, PhD's and "University Studied" does not make them valid whatsoever. I am currently in academia, and I can tell for a fact that there are some very highly educated people who don't know a lick what they are talking about.

Also, I am looking to actually put on weight. Any advice in that area? Thanks for the reply in your last video regarding Swifty's retirement, keep the vids coming!

  • Rico I would really appreciate if you did a vlog like this but about weight gaining in relation to training ofc. Nice job and keep it up!

  • Thanks a lot Rico!

I respect the time you took to put this out on the internet. In return, I'll promise to follow these guidelines and lose weight myself. There is no excuse not too! I'm currently 215lbs at 6'2 and I'll set the goal at 185. Ill follow the diet and work out as well on are bike at home and free weights. I'll in form you somehow with before and after photos to show results.

    Starting January 15th

If you can take the time to inform me, I can take the time to get it done!

  • Rico, your face looks like BJ penns face.

At least reminds me of it :D

  • tony Horton was a comedian before he became the p90x guru! there is your expert

  • @bboybadboybobby tony knows his stuff, i've done it and it does work. If you dont know the basics he tells you. Just like rico did. But he goes into more detail on workout routines and whatnot.

  • so if i want to gain weight i have to do the opposite of what this video says? so limit myself to 3 unhealthy meals...eat sugars and icecream/candy/chocolates...and eat fast as possible..is this safe? or just useless...

  • U HAZ MAIL, and a mac, gg!

  • I am now using all of the tips in this video and am having little trouble acceping the change in diet. It is definitely helping. Thanks for the upload Rico

  • Ways to lose weight -

    1. Do Cardio

    2. Eat Less

    3. Drink Water

  • So much broscience

  • What if I eat healthy but i'm still pretty hefty, I know I eat some sweets here and there but mainly healthy active peoples food cause i'm in sports but usually maintain the weight. I eat smaller portions trying to lose it but then I get hungry to the point of where my body goes into starvation mode and whatever I eat turns to a fat reserve. I could understand how some people saying your growing so you gaing weight. But i've lost 11 pounds in the past 2 days being hungry from starvation sucks.

  • @THEtubinator66 11lbs in 2 days? That is incredibly unhealthy - You should try and lose 1-3lbs a week depending on your weight. You should turn to eating several meals a day. Eating whole foods will fill you up more because calories don't come from fat, but carbs proteins etc. Eat ~5 meals a day every 3 hours. You'll be full on whole foods while eating ~400cals a meal. 11lbs in 2 days is INCREDIBLY bad for your system, your metabolism goes into starvation mode - very dangerous for your body.

  • @THEtubinator66 Lose weight slower and eat less

people can talk all they want obese people aet alot and the proof is in their weight

Drink water, eat less, eat in more intervals and do what rice says

Im Ripped but I eat sweets constantly, but then again I work out, I drink water like crazy and I eat like 5 6 times a day

  • @Carrymancer sry rico

  • "his girlfriend have a eight pack only because he count the boobies with!

  • I eat my food really fast, but I'm still skinny. why's that?

  • @TheGenesisDentarg

You have a high metabolism, like me.

  • @TheGenesisDentarg Eat more. There are several types of body types, Ectomorph, Endomorph and Mesomorph. You are an Endomorph, meaning you have a very high metabolic rate, meaning you burn more calories than you eat while Ectomorphs or Mesomorphs burn less than they eat (typically). This is genetic. If you wish to gain "Mass" or "muscle" you are going to have to aim towards 3800-4000 calories a day whilst working out 3-5 times a week (weights)

  • "you have to give up sweets" *Looks at my Pringles*

  • can you upload a video on gym workouts. like shoulder works for shoulder day. chest workouts for chest day. so on so forth.

  • Are there going to be any more ricos channels, like ricos colon or ricos penis?

  • Love you Rico. :)

  • 8:14 :)

  • i subbed! I USED TO BE FAT, BUT NOW THANKS TO SWIFTY AND CREW IM BUFFED

  • i pulled out my dick when he starts taking his shirt off. iknow hes gay.

  • Hello rico i have two questions.

    1. Is stuffs like Diet coke and sodas that claims they have no sugar in it, Alright to exchange for stuffs like regular coke?, cus i use to drink loads of coke and stuff. or is it the same shit?

    2. Also this "Nature Nuts n Stuff" There is this nuts cashews with Salt that seems kinda healty. and i was woundering maybe exchange candy stuff(snickers, twix, kitkat) and stuffs for cashews what do you think?

  • @TheSarevan Beware of food with a lot of salt, salt binds fat to your body.

  • @TheSarevan Stick to water and salt ridden foods like salted peanuts.

  • @TheSarevan stay away from soda. It erodes your teeth, & contains loads of sugar. It's basically empty calories. You can have one once a week or so to enjoy, but definitely don't drink it every day. It will destroy your liver, destroy your teeth and make you a fat and lethargic slob. Diet coke on the other hand, does not contain sugar, and no calories either, but it still erodes your teeth, and the artificial sweetener used called Aspartame is a nasty neurotoxic chemical. Just avoid soda period.

  • @TheSarevan Diet Coke with splenda is excellent. This is really not bad for your body compared to other drinks, one of the better. Splenda is a natural sweetener and with the Diet side you don't have to worry about "drinking your calories". Aspartame sweetened diet beverages are a no go! Nuts are a great way to exchange for candy! But don't overdo, Nuts are very fatty (good fats) and are packed with calories because of this. Just make sure not to overdo.

  • All the other things like meal frequency, food type and vegetables does not matter one bit, as long as you have control of your calories in versus calories out.

  • Now with that said, the only thing that matters when trying to either gain weight or lose weight, is How many calories you consume versus how many calories you burn. That is all. Calories in vs calories out. If you consume less than your body requires, you lose weight. If you consume more than you burn, you gain fat. If you have an effective weight training program along with a calorie surplus, you will still gain weight but it will primarily be muscle instead of fat.

  • im going to try this mainly because ever since i have started going to college i have been gaining some weight. i blame the eradic placement of my classes but i eat really slowly anyway.

  • Rico I respect you trying to help people, but your advice is somewhat flawed. It is a MYTH that you can increase your metabolism by increasing meal frequency. Yes your metabolism increases when you eat, but the spike is proportional to the amount of calories that meal contains. That means 8 meals a day will result in 8 smaller spikes, which would be the equilevant to the spike you would see after 1 giant meal with the same amount of calories.

  • @flagermusen It isnt a myth that you increase your metabolism by increasing meal frequency. And just like he said, when you dont eat enough, you're body stores the fat, and when you eat more often, it doesnt need to. Im not one of them but all the health experts and very healthy people will tell you that. Mario Lopez is a good example. If hes doing it wrong, then I dont mind doing it wrong too.

  • @Brokencyde504 Scientific studies shows otherwise. If you are doubting me, feel free to take a look at the studies yourself. Here's a great resource on the topic: ww. leangains. com /2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html .

First myth he addresses is 1. Myth: Eat frequently to "stoke the metabolic fire", and cites studies to prove his point. No differences were found between a lower (3 meals) and higher meal (6 meals) frequency.

  • @flagermusen It actually is a very debatable topic. Say you eat 3000 cals a day. 1,000 calories in 1 sitting is going to force your metabolism to overwork itself, which in return will slow it down and store calories as fat because your metabolism doesn't know what to do with the excess food. Smaller meals allow your metabolism to not overwork- therefore calories are fed to your body in a steady fashion.

  • i started this diet up for volleyball season to lose a little weight, im 6ft 2in. tall and 173 pounds lets see how this goes

  • @lugeguydied You need to gain weight!!!!!

  • If you do not need to lose weight but need to gain weight it muscles and get strong should yo ustill eat that many times a day?

  • @JakeKnightBritan You just need to eat more calories than you burn, it doesn't matter how many times a day you eat. Granted, due to how appetite works, and your stomach can only contain so much at a time, it's obviously a better idea to eat more frequently because of that. If you want to gain muscles, just make sure you eat enough protein (about 1 gram per pound of bodyweight per day is enough) and be in a caloric surplus.

  • WTF didnt know HE IS SERIOUS.

  • 7:23 New Text Message From Swifty: RICOOO OUR PLANE IS LEAVING IN 10 MINS ZOMG!

  • Great video Rico, definetally cleared things up, except, what do you do if you are in school all day? How can I split up my food throughout the day?!?!?!? Luckily my school allows water in class, but what... do I just pack my backpack full of cereal bars? lol

  • @Gabe4D You can pre-cook meals days in advance, and use tupperware containers to bring it with you. Rice and chicken for example, or a make a salad. But besides, it's not that important to eat many times a day, the most important thing if you wanna lose weight is to know how many total calories you consume. If you don't lose weight, you simply need to consume less daily. There are ways to keep track of it, but a youtube comment is too short to go in depth. But it's really very simple.

  • @flagermusen I thought that eating many times a day keeps your metabolism going at a faster rate, since you are digesting food all the time. Am I wrong?

  • @leblinski that is actually a myth, even though Rico tries to tell you otherwise. The truth is, if u eat th same amount of food, your metabolism stays th same wether u spread it over 2 meals or 8. It has no impact on weightloss. However, it does have an impact on appetite, and it may be easier to avoid getting hungry if u eat more frequently, so that could be a good reason to eat more meals. But you can still lose weight if you eat 1 giant meal each day, as long as you are in a calorie deficit.

  • @flagermusen It's actually very debatable - Many studies have shown more meals speeds the metabolism, because you don't over eat during sittings, meaning your thyroid doesnt overwork itself if you eat 1,000 calories in a sitting vs. 400-600. Basically if you overeat your Thyroid over-reacts and stores calories as fat instead of burning them, but if you eat several meals you don't overeat, and your thyroid is fed over time.

  • @leblinski You can read more here if you are interested. abundantbrain.c om/2010/08/exploding-nutrition-myths-2-the-myth-of-meal-frequency-and-timing

  • @Gabe4D Whole foods! Pack Sandwiches with whole grain bread and turkey, no mayo! Any lean meat is fabulous. Nuts + Yogurt + Carrots + Fruits. All of these are fabulous, a granola bar every once in a while is good, but remember - don't overdo!

  • @ThePhuzz lol thanks! also You have filled like 2 comment pages with your comments, you really care hahahah!

  • @Gabe4D I do it because I've been there! I weighed nearly 220 lbs at 5'10 my Junior year in High School. Now I'm at 166lbs and trying to GAIN muscle weight - working out 5 days a week + eating whole foods that are healthy for me!!!!!!!!!!! I can see tremendous changes!
