  • Fascinating. It's a pity that YouTube is largely a morass of pointless, narcissistic ordure. Occasionally there a gems such as this. I don't know if you (both i.e gmacster & Mother) thought it was worth the effort, but I am very grateful that you created something quite hypnotic and kindly shared it.

    Thanks :)

  • it was amazing. i do a lot of stop motions and copper graving too. but for this one, man, you got some reaaaaaly good patient man. good job.

  • Magnificent.

  • impressive

  • What was that thing? Grapes, a tree, leaves, a man, superman, a face, or a farm?

    Okay! I am so confused!

  • Outstanding video! Very impressive and well done. Thank you both. I had time to appriciate without any commentary interfering.

  • the 2 dislikes hurt there wood

  • Amazing video! I'd be great if you would check out my stop motion videos and tell me what you think, though they're not nearly as cool as this.

  • Really great! Thanks!

  • Hi.. This is so beautiful.. what type wood is used and what type of knife has to be used?

  • That must have taken forever to film. Thanks for the lesson.

  • That was absolutely incredible! I loved watching your work. How in the world did they edit out the tool and your hand working? Amazing.

  • @NancyToday You don't edit it out. It's a bunch of photos put one after the other in an animating program. Do something small, take a photo, do something else, take a photo. Rinse and repeat.

  • Epic!

  • great stop motion techniques...:)lot of patience is needed for this kind of video....:) thumbs up

  • Just really helpful to see how such a work is approached. Many thanks!

  • Ö woooow

  • Blessing on youre hands..what was harder to make the carving or the video !? :-)

  • Hello, my mother was the woodcarver, she is amazing. All I did was sit on the computer taking picture after picture :). The carving itself is a very easy carving (she teaches classes and this is the beginning project that they all must do). The most challenging thing about doing this was carving the wood and then getting out of the shot to take the picture. (I carved a little bit of the really easy stuff and did the staining at the end).

  • very nice

  • Excellent. I learn more on the steps of carving than the other videos here. Could ya'll maybe do some other objects? This was good.

  • MAN, I've got to find me some of that wood that carves itself, haha. Great video.

  • is this a piece of wood you're carving on???

  • Really an excellent video. I have to agree with what others said. It taught me more about carving than all the other videos on YouTube.

The music sounded a little sad for the subject of the video.

Thanks for taking the time to do this and make it available to everyone.

  • It really was very good. thank you.

  • I learned more a about carving from your video than all others that I have viewed. you have chosen the best method to demonstrate the skills you have and the ones that you were attempting to convey to your audience.

    Well done!

  • Very cool, I really enjoyed this and can appreciate the time and effort. Great piece!

  • In the last year during which I gather all possible info by books, purchased videos, online free info...this is the most aid I came accross. I want to learn woodcarving and this will be one of my stronger aids. T H A N K U!!!

  • I don't do any wood carving, but I have been carving Jack0lanterns and making videos with them. I saw your video in the related video list. Very beautiful! I love it!

  • Very good, I am getting started into carving. I am going to my local WoodCraft shop and taking a wood spirit carving class next month. I cannot wait to start carving. I have always been good with working with my hands, but I am not very artistic as far as drawing and such, so I hope I do well. I really enjoy working with wood and all the different tools and gouges.

  • That was fantastic!!! I can really appreciate the time and effort that went into this. I am learning how to carve and I know it can be time consuming but also alot of fun, 3233 cuts, wow!! My hats off to you. ost more if you can.
