1)middle finger to thumb

2) keep cap on parallel plain with your target

3)Aim with your elbow

wow. I can't shoot beer bottlecaps. Only plastic ones (like gatorade caps).  I shoot differently, too. A flicking motion instead of snapping. I flick by thumb outside cap, middle finger behind. They should have official competitions so I can see where I stand in this near extinct world if there.

They have plenty of left over bottles laying everywhere, and you can make new friends by having competitions! But seriously, I am interested in reviving this dying art. This might help kids get in shape, generate more income for businesses, and have the opportunity to make more friends! What could possibly go wrong?

As with astreetaesthetic, I have mastered this wondrous art long ago, 32 years ago now. I am 48 now. Your video is excellent, but I shoot from the other side of the cap, than you do. Yes down the elbow for sure. I think also is lost, is the art of bottlecap warfare, with the upside down backward shot, so your face is hidden and only peeking around your right side to shoot, if you are right handed like I am. That my young friend, is not aimed with the elbow, but with the eye and much practice.

Without conceding anything, I have to admit that your video speaks for itself. I've been at it for nearly 30 years now. College, I guess, is where most of us pick it up. Have you experimented with plastic caps from spring water bottles? A slightly different effect, and on the plus side you don't have to worry about taking someone's eye out. And check this: if you shoot a plastic cap at a pane of glass from a distance of 6-8 ft., it will come back at you with greater velocity.

grip needs to be firm but loose at the same time. Middle finder over thumb is the only movement needed in your shot.

make sure you elbow is up and aiming at you target, its an akward position to begin with but its very important to shoot very good shots. keep watching the video, those 3 rules are the foundation. Sometimes a lighter grip is more powerful than a tighter grip, you have to find the fine line. Keep practicing and watching the video!!!!
