  • @gondorking86 you say a lack of continual repentance may be an evidence of a lack of salvation for faith without works is dead! Have you continually repented of the 667 sins in the bible? do u think your repetance earns you salvation or makes you any different from the believer who doesnt repent? u do realise that Jesus's sacrifice attoned for your sins? so live in the reality that you have been saved and not continually being saved!

  • I was not repentant when I called on Jesus and said the sinner's prayer. As I prayed to Jesus, I was seeking TRUTH and only TRUTH. He heard the desire of my heart and gave me Himself, then taught me that I was a sinner before I prayed and after, I was His, a saint, transformed by Him.

  • I believe "repent" is purposefully mistranslated to give the impression that a person has to be sorry before they're saved (which benefits the clergy). The word "repent" has its root in the French language--not Hebrew. You said it well when you the correct meaning is "change your mind."

  • Hey VK, its PG. nice points great prospective. and way to bring it home, i was alil confused at first but you brought to light the scripts in matthew, the the holy Spirit was reminding me of them. good to know now im good to Go. ttyl

  • AMEN'd at 0:46

  • Very good explanation GOD BLESS YOU

  • I agree rependence is definately required. Not the crying out and begging for forgiveness (God said He'd prefer that we would rent our hearts and not our clothes). The Holy Spririt lets us know what we need to change (turn away from).

  • Don't know how I ended up on this video, but you have a very sweet spirit, VK. Thanks for taking the time to share your love for God.

  • great points

  • I might add a caveat, though, that a lack of continual repentance may be an evidence of a lack of salvation for faith without works is dead, and that turning to God in faith is in one sense turning away from sin.

  • True...this is the case where was the person truly saved or just paying lip service? Sadly, many are becoming anesthetized to sin...It breaks my heart that people do not attempt to honor holiness.

    Blessings!

  • Okay, I think I see what you're saying now. While repenting of unbelief is part of what it means to believe and in that sense repentance is prior to justification, what you might call "continual repentance" comes after justification and is an aspect of sanctification. Is that what you're saying? If so, I agree wholeheartedly!

  • Your video is a wonderfully positive encouragement for all of our brethren ... a strong reminder of what sincere and true repentance and "going and sinning no more" (John 8:1-12) means. Thank you for the excellent elaboration. God bless you always. 8^)>

  • Amen! My God continue to use you as a vassel.

  • Well done sis.. This is such a great way to explain it, to remember we have to be careful on judgeing others. God knows the heart and the stage of walk that person is in. A great reminder for me.. thank you vk :o)

  • Amen we have the Holy Spirit Interceding for us on a constant basis. He makes groanings and utterances we cant understand. The Lord himself intercedes to the father on our behalf. Ive repented, and I have tried to reconcile with a brother, now it is between that Brother and God. That Brother wont hear me out, or forgive me, but the Lord already has. AMen

  • GREAT VID!

  • Thanks!

  • Hi Lily, missed you on stickam tonight

  • Tried to go to bed early :-)

  • the only thing we need to do is to cry out to Him. we do that by the sovereign grace of God. for He knew us before time its self, and He knew that we would call out to Him, and are therefore chosen by God.

  • if some one gets saved by the power of God, they will turn away from sin. Turning away from sin is not required for salvation, but rather is a work of that salvation. its called faith with works. the words are not the cause but rather the affect.

  • Exactly...repentance of sin is a natural response to the Grace poured out on us. We are called to be Holy as He is Holy which means we must do everything within our power to purge sin from ourselves.

Work out your salvation in fear and trembling...

  • I probably wouldn't continue with these kinds of videos unless you've been to seminary. Otherwise it's just ripping off other's materials and trying to make it you own and I don't think that's right.

  • Whose materials? These are my original thoughts, no one else's derived from my own study of the scriptures which are public domain. Last I checked, Christ didn't have a great deal of esteem for the religious heirarchy. Not one of His disciples had been to seminary. They were fishermen, tax collectors and other lowly occupations. However, I do have several dozen pastors subscribed who give me a great deal of feedback.

  • "There are 2 definitions of repentance: One is to change your thinking towards God. The second is to turn away from sin."

They don't sound separate to me but rather the same thing. To turn away from sin is to change your thinking toward God.

  • The issue is recognizing the sovereignty of God for the first, and choosing to not sin for the second. They aren't synonomous.

  • Excellent message. I got blocked from someone's site the other day because I said "Salvation is a free gift". All you have to do is accept it. Thanks for your boldness!

  • I've had so many people argue with me over this and the Myths of Salvation video, but I know I have scripture on my side :-)

  • Absolutely you do.

  • Dear Kitty, Faith is clearly a gift of grace and not of ourselves Eph.2:8.

Faith in God is impossible to have without His first work of birthing us anew, by The Holy Spirit, without any of us doing anything. James 1:17,18,John 1:13

It is not of our will or effort.

God chastens those whom He loves. New Birth, as the wind, comes in the direction that only God in His sovereignty. We have no say in the matter.

If we can do something to merit new birth/salvation, then it is no longer of grace.

  • I really think you are not listening. I clearly state that salvation is through faith alone. But if we do not repent we do not grow. this is sanctification, not salvation. It is a work not spontaneous. It is brought forth by the conviction of the Holy Spirit. I never said it is for salvation.

  • Violet: What is faith? Where does it come from? Why do some have it and some do not?Since, faith is 'not of ourselves', who is it of?

Merely saying; 'through faith alone' is just a 'cliches'. What does it mean?

You make it sound like 'our faith' is our decision that we exercise to make Christ's sacrifice 'work' or become effectual.

Faith it the RESULT of God's work in His Elect - those who He draws Jn6:33, begets Ja1:18, Jo1:13, and chastens Heb.12:6.Rv.3:19

  • The only thing required for salvation is Jesus' paying the price for your sin.

Faith and repentance are gifts granted by God's Grace and are natural consequences for those for whom Christ suffered and died.

Only, the suffering and death of Christ, can pay the price for ALL the sins of His Elect, no matter to whom our sin was committed. You cannot atone for murder, which is a sin against your neighbor.

I'm afraid you are a bit confused Kitty.

  • You need to go watch the Myths of Salvation video in which I clearly state that the only requirement for salvation is faith in Christ. This video is clarifying my position on repentance because unfortunately in the prior video I was unclear.

Faith is not a gift of the Spirit, but a fruit of the Spirit, and repentance is a work for our sanctification. There are atonements for every sin in the Law.

  • Always good to get another perspective, especially a well researched one that makes one think. You're looking most well Miss Kitty, hope all is going good for you.

  • God gives me the topics and leads me to the scripture for them. This one happened on the first take! I love it when He takes over!

  • Thanks. Good teaching.

  • Thanks Bruce :-)

  • Very nice..you always give us something wonderful to think about/remember

  • Thank you kindly :-)

  • Repent > Reconcile >Revival. AMEN!

  • I think it's amazing that you actually saw a SECOND flow chart that I didn't do intentionally! I think that's a Holy Spirit thing, eh?

  • Haha wow, :)

  • Amen...he came to fulfill the Law. Very good video Sis.

  • Thank you so much (((LUVS)))

  • It is written.

"If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Repentance is a fruit of salvation. It is not the root of salvation. And the same goes for any works. I will further add that any effort you gave to accomplish those later works was 100% given to you by God. You did nothing of yourself save pray.

Everything traces back to Him. Any and ALL glory goes to Him. All it always has.

  • Yes, repentance flows out of salvation as God convicts us of our sin. Sometimes we don't pray though...sometimes He torments us until we come into submission because He knows we are stubborn.

  • I've had some experience with that, VioletKitty. I pray for it though. Sometimes I'll get my mind to bypass the guilt on rare occasions when I'm out with friends, but I'd rather be highly convicted then too.

It's funny, I try sharing the gospel with my old friends, but they knew my old self and it sounds so hypocritical of me at times, although I explain.

The more I keep God with me, the more I end up having to either look like a fool or choose sides and sometimes alienate old friendships.

  • i posted a comment which questioned why god wants us to forgive our brothers ,but then he goes and punishes the next 4 generations,as soon as i hit the post comment button ,my server failed ,and it stayed down for half an hour !,thats the last time i question gods motives,thanks for the video VK , ;-}

  • Ha! Good point Nigel! FYI, in the very near future I will be addressing that point a bit more thoroughly. :-)

  • I love this message

  • Thank you, Ken :-)

  • I thought He doesn't punish our children. I don't understand.

  • Not through death or even illness....it's generational sin (repeating patterns) and I am going to address it in a very near video...BUT I will talk to you about it :-)

  • good video God bless you vk

  • And you, Adam :-)

  • excellent vid and perfect scripture.

  • Thanks...hope it hits home for people :-)

  • Good job VK :)
