IT WON'T WORK ON 80 OR 120 GB. THEY HAVE A SOLDERED ON BATTERY CABLE. UNLESS YOU ARE AT LEAST DECENT WITH A SOLDERING IRON, I WOULDN'T SUGGEST ATTEMPTING IT. WHEN I GOT ERROR 5 ON MY 80 GB ZUNE, I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND HARD DRIVE, BEFORE FINALLY FINDING A DAMAGED ZUNE ON EBAY THAT STILL WORKED(JUST A CRACKED SCREEN). IT WAS THE MOTHERBOARD THAT NEEDED REPLACED. i WOULD BET THAT THE MOTHERBOARD IS GOING TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR "ERROR 5".

When I unhook the battery and then hook it back in it goes to the zune screen and starts clicking then I push the center-left-back buttons and it goes to please wait for awhile then connect to PC then to install firmware it says not enough space...i've tried many times

Dude, you're a fuckn bad ass!!! I just did the same process on the 80gb zune.. I got it on, it started charging when I plugged it in, but now theres this screen that says step 5. Contact suppourt. Know what to do man?

KEEP CHARGING IT!!! but not too much. a good 15-20 min. you don't want to abuse the battery if that. once then you might have to do the process again. the battery had to fail when it finished reformatting the zune. hope this helps

your battery is done for if you opened your zune once before make shure the battery cable its in correctly if it is then your gonna have to replace the battery thay are sold for 10- to 20 dollars on ebay hope this helps ..... good luck

update the zune if you have not done that

if you taken out the hdd from the zune make shure the cable is in perfectly if those does not work then backup and do a system restore

those are to my knowledge your only options

if your zune is working but cant look for the song it a software error correct me if i am wrong hope this helps

my zune 30 has a problem with playing music. The music goes on there but when i go to play it starts clicking and says "item is missing or cannot be played" the max amount of music it allows me to put on it is 4gb and after that the it has problems. no sadly i found out that over time the read/write heads on the the zune hard drive ware out over time. im saving up to get a new one i think either a 80 or 120. im still going to keep my old one tho i might open it up.
