  • What is so sad is when you look at Europe and America today all those deaths seem to have been in vane . They all died for liberty, freedom but today England, Europe and America have become or becoming the very thing all of this was to have stoped. We all have become a socialist state with thugs having more rights than the victim. It's like we saved the wor

  • God bless america

  • If you haven't served, please be silent out of respect.......

  • THAT GRAVEYARD IS SO BIG....TOO BIG....

  • The allies had been taking aerial photographs of the defences since the outbreak of war but stopped doing so months before the invaision?? Whose bright idea was that?Did they expect them not to change in that period of time?Very short sighted on the part of the planners, what happened to using current up to date data? They could be walking into a giant trap.Intelligence from their agents could have been false. No wonder Eisenhower wrote a "We've been defeated" letter in case of failure.

  • The Allied bombardement was inssuccessfull. That's the reason. Just 3-5 bombs out of 100 fell on the right place.

  • such a pity the bombing was poor,

  • loosing so many men...what a victory

  • Wow the cemeteries is so huge.... Those dead guy are really indeed hero...

  • Thank you for posting this and the other films...nice change from US television drek...

"Most important battle..." I don't know about that but it certainly was one of the more dramatic military endeavors...

The Ranger contribution on the beach was a new bit of information for me, as I knew only that they had suffered mightily getting up on Pointe du Hoc...

Too bad some here seem to fighting the war all over again..mankind never learns

  • i cant wait to be a ranger dude

  • 3 peoples were nazis

  • answer me please so each section like dog green easy red and all that were pinned down under the sea wall for like 2hrs and when navy suport were bombing the bluffs that gave the the chance to advance and make there way up the bluffs? and what was the first sector to make it up

  • for people who say god never played a part notice how god made those 500 men miss there objecttive for pointe du hoc and land on the beach more men would be killed and might of not had a victory lol he blessed those men and thats why we won the war

  • @SuxMeBoww This event can be, and has been, explained without the need to resort to gods, fairies, pixies, or 'aliens'. It is typical of what happens in the fog of war -- people become disoriented, schedules fall apart, plans are foiled by the enemy. If God was playing a part, why was the Omaha landing such a bloodbath? Why were the D-Day landings necessary at all?

  • omfg rangers are the fking best never scared of shyt without those thype of men this would be bad

  • sometimes its like so bad i wasnt part of it

  • He might not even fired a shot . BUT he's still a hereo for just beiing there, that was helping too!!.. You're a heroe just ass everybody else of the war!

  • I would be a very happy man to know that I made it through those beaches and through the cliffs I would be proud but i didnt

  • @ CaptainFox91

God doesnt have anything to do with this.

shall i tell you a little secret?

    there is no god. ;)

  • actually God does exist, and he has a lot to do with this.

  • God bless all those soldiers

    Thanks for the upload

    5/5*

  • Does anybody know of the song playing in the back round, that starts at 4:45 ?

its a really nice song, and would love to know.

thanks, many respects to all involved and those who suffered during the landing at Omaha Beach.

  • @TeddiPhrenzi Stripping Cane - Jeffrey Foucault

  • thx for upload

  • To all the soldiers of all countries, thanks for your courage and sacrifice.

  • @EnoAmbient4 FUck some SOldiers HOMO!

  • wonderful ending

  • Its very easy to understand why there were high casualties at Omaha Beach. First of all the 352nd ID was a fully constituted division and NOT an Ost or static defense garbage unit. Omaha was defended by the 916th Grenadier Regiment at nearly full strength. The defenses were overcome by US Navy gunfire, follow-up tank support, after the DD disaster, and reinforcement by the 2nd RNGR Battalion.

  • @2bn442RCT Thanks for posting. You have a very thorough archive of films. This Omaha doco is like so many others ...only telling the American side of the story. One possible reason the defenders fought so bitterly is because of the "no prisoners" policy by the US military. A bit difficult to take prisoners while trying to establish a beach head. Heinrich Severloh was a German (not a NAZI) manning a MG-42 at post 62 on that day. He only lived because he was captured the following day.

  • @arnbo88 It's really hard finding the German point of view documentaries. IF they did have a "don't take prisoners", then they did not do a very good job.

  • @HoustonGD It's even more difficult to see a film portraying German soldiers as human beings. "Cross of Iron" and "All Quiet...." being a couple. I think the series "Battle Line" had an Omaha Beach episode but I haven't seen that series since I was a kid. I can't prove the no prisoners order at this time. However, logistically it does make sense. I did once see a doco with a US omaha veteran stating that was one of his orders. Can't remember which doco though.

    cheers.

  • @HoustonGD According to wiki only half of the 130 german prisoners taken at omaha on D-day made it to the collection point. Look up "Allied war crimes of WW2" on wiki. You may be shocked at some of the dark sides of the Canadian and US militaries. The 328th and 45th Infantary divisions did some pretty bad things in WW2. It proves that barbarism can affect all men in conflict.

  • @arnbo88, you stupid idiot. The USA troops took many POWs at Omaha on the day of the landing. There was not a 'no prisoners policy' as you erroneously state. many Germans were more than happy to surrender & were usually treated well. keep your stupid neo-nazi mouth quiet you ignormous & moron. Buzz off. At least 4,700 USA & a few Brit. casualties occurred at Omaha, most in the first 3 to 4 hours of the assault.

  • @2bn442RCT, There was also a battalion of the German 716th Static Inf. Div. at Omaha in addition to a large part of the 352nd Inf. Div., & neither were elite units. I enjoy the vids. you post. And Happy New Year & many more to come!!!

I'm 'fooked' though, as I just found out my lung cancer has also moved to my brain, so soon I might be brain dead or just plain dead as the survival rate is low. Maybe a vegetable for awhile after more radiation treatments, brain laser surgery, chemo, = cooked.

  • There was a cliff on Omaha?? I thought that was Pointe Du Hoc that had the cliff.

  • They should make Timewatch docs for the battle of stalingrad.

  • Good documentary as usual. True Daniel.

  • same her m8

  • I can't express my appreciation enough of the sacrifice those men gave. I wish I could have been there with them.

  • I also express my appreciation but I am very glad I was not there with them!

  • None of them wanted to get shot at or killed, but they knew they had a job to do. Same as if it were now. No matter what, you have to do your part.

  • And also, to be sitting here as I am now, knowing that I had had the honor of having stood with those men of all men, that would make me very proud indeed.

  • I know very well Omaha beach it is a very beautiful beach we are sad has to imagine that many men one suffered and died on this beach

je connais très bien Omaha beach c'est une très belle plage on a du mal a imaginer que beaucoup d'hommes on souffert et sont morts sur cette plage!!

  • Richard hammond? Brilliant! brilliant doc as always

  • Thanks for the documentary.

  • I always appreciate your posting these great series. Thanks again!

  • great series GDH...thanks 5/5
