  • And if you actually know who most of these people are, you're probably homeschooled. LOL

  • fuck letting government educate kids, what is this soviet russia

  • Teaching any learner how to learn is essential for success!

  • Frederick Terman was not a President of Stanford University, he was a Provost. I find it surprising that Tim Tebow wasn't on the list. I'd think he'd be on there as one of the more well-known modern-day homeschoolers.

Although I'm proud of our homeschoolers, we need to get the information correct.

  • This is my 5th yr of homeschooling.

  • This is a great video .(9year old homeschooler).

  • @rawmonalisa This was uploaded in 2008, before Tebow was famous.

  • home schooled 16 year olds who have been whom schooled for their entire lives, have the education of a 12th grader.

  • @captinseperoth

Sort of like you not being able to spell "home" properly?

  • This music is SO familiar. Almost sounds like it came from a Nintendo game.

  • wow , whats the name of the song?? love it

  • This video is very misleading. Most of the individuals portrayed in this video were self-educated, not home-schooled as we define it today.

  • @majohnse Self-education is one of many methods of homeschooling. Some call this type of home education child led or child directed learning. Others may call it unschooling. There are as many ways to homeschool as there are families so it can not be defined in one narrow description. My daughter is self-educated but when people ask her where she goes to school she does not respond by saying that she is self-educated. She says she is homeschooled.

  • @KikyoChanXD trust me stick with it, homeschooling is 5 times worse, trust high school will get better DONT homeschool

  • I'm going to be home schooled soon. I've been wanting to since Freshman year of high school. I was constantly depressed and thinking about suicide. I was, and am, sick and tired of all the talk about sex, drugs, dating, etc. in school. I just want to learn, but I can't. The idiots there are the worse. It's strange, because it's a SUBURBAN school as well. I can't even imagine what the public schools in my area (the city) are like. I broke down this week, and finally my parents are listening.

  • davinchi and monet, would never be good artists if they went to public school, and got all the creativity sucked out of them....

  • @skatebboard Too true.

  • This was a great video. It was inspirational to those of us who homeschool and to those who might consider homeschooling as well.

  • was going ok until the liberal feminist Gloria Steinam...

  • Fantastic video!! Filled with Art! Bravo, MillerHomeSchoolOK!!!

You picked up all the pieces throughout time and put them together so beautifully! The choice of music fantastic too. My favorite! I LOVE it ~ Venus

  • Nicely done!!

  • Very inspirational. Thank you!

  • This was so nice to show my son, who we "brought home" to be homeschooled this past year. Going now into our 2nd year and hoping to get it down pat one of these days! Nice video! My son loves to make videos, so this was neat to show him!

  • I went to a state school in the UK, we leaned how to abuse solvents even sniffing tippex thinner in the class room. I was taught how to shop lift by my fellow school children. Even paedophiles operated amongst the school children.

  • My wife went to a fee paying boarding school supposedly one of the best. In the top 6 in the country. They didn't need tippex thinner they had cocaine and LSD. There was also 2 suicides and outrageous bullying when she attended. I want to give my children the best and that is why we home-school.

  • As for homeschooling being conservative or liberal, the truth is that there are many families on both ends of the spectrum who homeschool. In fact, the number of liberal-minded parents choosing to bring their children home and educate them is growing rapidly. They may not have the same religious reasoning as conservatives, but even they can see that the American public school system is a massive failure.

  • @MillerHomeSchoolOK you forgot nikola tesla the man who invented the 20th centuray(he created ac current, hydroelectricity, xray, remote control, improved on the light buhad 700 patent by the time he died) was home schooled

  • @MillerHomeSchoolOK - I, too, homeschool my children, and the amount of liberals that homeschool their children in miniscule. The amount of people that homeschool for reasons other than religion is growing by leaps and bounds, but the liberal folks that homeschool is still quite small.

  • So, while Einstein did attend some school in his life, he was mostly self-taught and certainly home-educated, having a great disdain for the schools method of teaching. If all Einstein ever learned in his growing years was the teaching put before him in school, he would have been poorly educated indeed.

  • Uncle Jakob lent him a book of algebra and sent him math puzzles to solve. Albert's parents purchased his textbooks in advance so that he could read them over summer vacation. At age 12 he taught himself Euclidian geometry (the study of points, lines, and surfaces), having been greatly impressed by its clear and certain proofs. By the age of 15, Albert had mastered differential and integral calculus (a higher form of mathematics used to solve problems in physics and engineering).

  • The Encyclopedia Britannica states that Einstein was 15 years old when he left school "with poor grades in history, geography, and languages." Although uninterested in other subjects, Albert had an innate ability ot understand complicated mathematical concepts by learning them through indepedent study. He had settled into his own program of self-education by age 10, in which his real studies were done at home.

  • He wrote that the spirit of discovery and creative thought were lost in strict rote learning. Biographer Albrecht Folsing, author of Albert Einstein: A Biography (New York: Viking, 1997), described him as an exceptionally bright, self-motivated learner who could get good scores when he wanted to, but refused to waste his time with school activities in which he saw little value.

  • Despite his natural inquisitiveness, Albert Einstein was unhappy in school. According to a story that he later told his son Hans Albert, "his teachers reported that...he was mentally slow, unsociable, and adrfit forever in his foolish dreams." Einstein attributed his school problems to a disdain for compulsion, a tendency to do things his own way, and an unwillingness to do the work required by his teachers.

  • Einstein was NOT homeschooled. This video is biased and false.

  • The problem with this video is that most of those people were homeschooled before the 1920's when public education changed a LOT. I'm not saying public school is better, just that this isn't at all persuasive.

  • what went wrong with Gloria Steinman????? Yikes!

  • Good stuff! Share with your friends and counter the liberal propaganda!

  • @gpbakalov Something is profoundly wrong if liberals are against alternative schooling methods and conservatives are for them. It's a definate inversion of roles.

  • This is a very inspirational video for those who homeschool. Just thought I would point out however, that Florence Nightingale was not a Civil War nurse, she was a nurse during the Crimean War. However, she did offer advice to the Union government and was a source of inspiration for Civil War nursing.

  • I love home education you are not controlled by the government and you can learn about the stuff you want.(plus other things)

  • lol u missed out christopher paolini

  • Even before public school there were schools that people payed to get their kids into. Some of them were kicked out, dropped out, or were pulled out of various schools by their parents, or just taught at home from the begining because of lack of funds.

    Do your research.

  • jessica alba, donny and marie osmand all went to my school i homeschool with ha

  • No not everyone was homeschooled before the advent of public schools. There were community schools that the parents paid for. Public school started when it became funded by the government. They didn't invent schoolhouses.

  • And Walt Disney!

  • yeah C.S lewis!!!!!!!

  • @Ivlaryann, exactly. This video shows people in times where EVERYBODY was homeschooled. It's kinda stupid.

  • people who are older than the public school system shouldn't count

  • thats a good accurate account

  • are you sure these are all accurate? because I didn't think Clara Barton or Booker T. Wahington were homeschooled, but oh well. =) still very good!

  • Well done! Thank you!

  • The most awesome people the show that homeschooling IS profitable are 1:46

  • haha that's right MOZART

  • Homeschool Rules!

  • Cool video we're homeschoolers too!

  • Great now your kids can learn how the earth is only 6000 years old! That will make sure they're ready for the real world.

    DURRRRRRRR

  • Must have been Public Educated, thinks that all Homeschoolers are Christians! LOL What an idiot.

  • So you're not a christian?

  • Yes, I am, but one of my best friends who Homeschools is a Pagan, another is Wiccan, and shockingly one is an complete Non-Believer. Let's not forget my Protestant, Jewish, Jehovah Witness and my Bahia friends who HOMESCHOOL. And YES, there are several of families in some of those denominations. Don't pigeon-hole US because that's what you were taught to do.

  • And I bet you a thousand dollars that the parents of your Pagan and Wiccan friends are Christians too.

You don't count Protestant and Jehovah's Witness as christians?

  • You would lose that bet quick. I am an adult, and I am speaking of adults who homeschool their children. To go one further, their parents are Pagan and Wiccan also. When do I collect?

I was using the other faiths as examples. So you can understand that we do not seclude our children, nor are they in boxes with only children of their belief system.

You see, while you have your set beliefs and your prejudices , we do everything we can to teach our children NOT to do those things.

  • Great job buying into idiotic stereotypes!

    1. Creation can be taught in private schools as well.

    2. Homeschoolers aren't necessarily fundamentalist Christians.

    3. No matter how much parents try to reinforce beliefs, teenagers will inevitably 'rebel' and question what they've been taught. My parents are Catholic conservatives, and I'm a deist and an anarchist (please, read the fucking Wikipedia page on anarchism before you assume I'm either a bomb-throwing maniac or an angsty teen)

  • Great list! But what about Tim Tebow?

  • who gives a crap about Tim Tebow??

  • There are more famous homeschoolers! Christopher Paolini, who is the author of Eragon, John Quincy Adams, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, and 17 of the US Constitution delegates who helped establish this country.

  • OMG Great vid!! so wonderful! oh and i luv super mario galaxy so That made it even better!!!

  • as a father of 9 Christian homeschooled in england, i believe my children are happier, [ due to less stress, pressure, and thier ability to use thier toys, equipment, home environement to the full.where one was a little slow,at least he was not put in with disuptive pupils like state school does, and he with patience has succeeded.they have high iq with richmond test [ voluntary test in uk ].all 9 are taught faith in Jesus as the only way to heaven, andthe bible, rightly divided, as our guide

  • I was trying to click the Thumbs up button and clicked the wrong one! I am sorry. I loved what you wrote and it has inspired me to continue to home educate my two boys. This will be our 6th year! God Bless and again sorry for the faux pa;-)

  • You misspelled H. C. Andersen's name. Danish names are -sen, not -son.

  • I am pretty sure that it's what he would call a stretcher to say Mark Twain was homeschooled. C.S. Lewis studied at an esteemed boys' prep school. Is it really fair to call it homeschooling when someone started school at a later age than we do today? In many of these lives, school for six or seven year olds was just not available or attainable; it's not like the parents chose to keep them at home. Let's not get any black eyes for the homeschool community by overstating the truth.

  • Could anybody tell me who wrote the music and the tittle? It´s beautiful.

  • You'll never believe it, but its actually called "Gusty Garden Galaxy"...its from the Super Mario Galaxy video game soundtrack by Koji Kondo!

  • Wonderful video! The music is just perfect for the video too.

  • Thanks for this inspiring video!

  • This really made me tear up. It's great!

  • I have to show this to my children. Thanks for sharing.

  • That was wonderful, thank you!

  • Loved it! Thanks for sharing!!
