the thing that is most clearly afirmed by history since the discovery of the America is
GENOCIDE AND SLAVERY.
the first thanksgiving in 1637 is when the settlers massacred a local native tribe then prtaisede god forit. and among the "gifts" given to native tribes were blankets laced with smallpox.

@starscreamdkmo Ok so lets bring back the Deist religion. I'm talking about this on another thread too. I'm not joking, I'm getting tired of these phony Christians. (not all of them, mostly the fundies, Dominionists and extreme right nutheads).
@starscreamdkmo Okay then we should bring back the position of deism. I think it morphed into atheism. But some of us do believe in a creator and are otherwise sort of athiest in our positions. I agree with you about religion. It is rather silly to follow someone elses dogma. I have had friends who referred to themselves as ''I'' when they stated a position and then after they became Christian they referred to themselves as ''We'' as in We believe this or that. I used to retort, We?
@jfsfrnd i was raised deist my grandfather was agnostic antheism never morphed from anything it has always been around do you have a yahoo addess i can write to you YT limites the characters i perfer detail information to be able to email you, and yeah this david barton the pedophile is such a liar its not even funny but send me your addy i'll write you back when i can
@starscreamdkmo You can PM me on Youtube. I don't give out my email to anyone. Go to my channel and send a message. I think that calling Barton a pedophile is taking it too far unless you have evidence.
Discovery of the continent - Columbus? There were people here before Columbus - indiginous and people who also discovered the continent. Should we take their writings to prove what kind of nation America is?
[after the COMMA] ''but not for the purpose of compelling men to embrace particular doctrines or creeds of any church, or to support one or another denomination by public burthens, but simply to afford protection to all in the enjoyment of their belief or unbelief.
''Although it is no part of the functions of our system of government to propagate religion, and to enforce its tenets, when the great body of the people are Christians, in fact or sentiment, ***our laws and institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise. And in this sense, and to this extent, our civilization and institutions are emphatically Christian,***'' [note COMMA]
@SpankbankINC i didn't hear a single source from the founding fathers. Here's an actual source. The Treaty of Tripoli which was drafted in 1796 under George Washington and signed by John Adams states "as the government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility of musselem;.." There's more, but you get the idea.
If one is going to claim that The united states was founded as a christian nation, one shouldn't use documents from generations before it's founding. One should use legal documents such as the constitution or the treaty of Tripoli.
Some of the Founders saw religion as an insitution that could contribute to social stability, but none of them were so naive as to think that Christianity or any other particular religion would always be the preferred religion of the majority. Their notion of ethics and spirituality transcended any one religion.
The constitution has no reference to god, religion, Christianity, or Jesus Christ. Contrary to Barton, THIS is the best evidence we are a beautiful, completely secular nation. A nation of primarily Christians, but in no way a Christian nation.
The quote at 2:19 is not from Church of the Holy Trinity v U.S. Its from Richmond v. Moore, an Illinois Supreme Court case that had to do with Sunday Laws. The quote is taken out of context. Go to Google Books and read both decisions.

there is no such thing as a christian nation. jesus said that strait is the gate and narrow is the way and FEW there are who find it
BTW christianity is NOT a matter of principles but of relationship with a supernatural being.

The writings of Christopher Columbus?!?!?!?!
Columbus was NOT an American because in his time, THERE WAS NO AMERICA.
If you want to be accurate about the history of this land, research why the NATIVE AMERICANS came here. They were here first. Did God bring them here?
