We shouldn't be upset that someone was falsely accused of being an atheist, we should be outraged that being an atheist is considered a smear. The correct take on this isn't that attack ads and negative campaigning are bad, but that we shouldn't give a shit what the religious views of a candidate are as long as they leave them out of their policy making. What really digusts me, is that calling someone an athiest is an insult. Furthermore, if you are running a campaign, saying you are christian or hindu or whatever says something about your morals and beliefs, but If you are an athiest, all you can really say about an athiest is that he/she doesn't believe in god. What the ad was specifically about was that Kay Hagan actually believed in God and that she was very reiligious, but on the same hand she accepted a donation and an endorsement from an organization that does not believe in God which is the total opposite of Kay Hagan's position. So again, Cenk, Kay Hagan still represents Washington politics as usual and Elizabeth Dole's ad clearly revealed that.

We go over the constitution article by article and rewrite it in our own words. Any one who wants to pass high school is required to take this class.

They teach the Constitution as a "living document", which basically means you can interpret it according to the times. Our founders were wise enough to limit an all powerful federal government, and make it difficult to ammend the Constitution.I try to read about the founders(especially The Federalist Papers) to try to get an accurate interpretation of their intentions from their times, not a liberal re-writing of history.

Furthermore, if you are running a campaign, saying you are christian or hindu or whatever says something about your morals and beliefs, but If you are an athiest, all you can really say about an athiest is that he/she doesn't believe in god. They didn't call her "Godless." The ad was not about any of that. What the ad was specifically about was that Kay Hagan actually believed in God and that she was very reiligious, but on the same hand she accepted a donation and an endorsement from an organization that does not believe in God which is the total opposite of Kay Hagan's position. So again, Cenk, Kay Hagan still represents Washington politics as usual and Elizabeth Dole's ad clearly revealed that.

Are you an idiot or something? This semester I took AP Government, which is a state required class by the way, and one of the projects we do is an OUTLINE OF THE CONSTITUTION. We go over the constitution article by article and rewrite it in our own words. Any one who wants to pass high school is required to take this class.

The founding fathers of Guatemala? I'm not sure they teach about ALL constitutions, but they certainly do teach about ours. Maybe you're saying they don't teach an interpretation that agrees with and supports YOUR beliefs, but that is because they aren't supposed to do that.

They teach the Constitution as a "living document", which basically means you can interpret it according to the times. Our founders were wise enough to limit an all powerful federal government, and make it difficult to ammend the Constitution.I try to read about the founders(especially The Federalist Papers) to try to get an accurate interpretation of their intentions from their times, not a liberal re-writing of history.

I was referring to the fact that they went on about how the accusation of being an atheist was untrue, but did not attack the fact that they used atheism as a smear tactic, implying that people without faith are untrustworthy to hold public office.
