  • Best horn ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It is a sea of blue and i love it!!!

  • Technically nine Conrail units.....the last engine was an LMS leasing unit...... still really cool!!! ;D

  • ¡10 locomotoras! Es una exageración. Estos compadres están chiflados.

  • How many cars on that train?

  • The company is probably moving some of those engines to other rail yards. The extra ones are probably not even running.

  • Conrail had C44-9W's?

  • awesome video, although that train is overpowered.

  • here i was thinking this was going to be tf2 related

  • Growing up in the 70's & 80's it is hard to forget those Big Blue Conrail locos.

  • Nice catch and awesome RS3L. But technically that was 9 Conrail units and 1 Locomotive Management Services unit, which is still technically Conrail, so that works. :)

  • ok i know loco types BUT i have the holy grail of all railfans...CORA 1994 guide...YOU PEOPLE PROBABLY HAVE NEWER BUT I HAVE THE 1994 VERSION IDIOTS

  • 10th train is lms

  • Unbelievable Catch!

  • Conrail reminds me of Thomas the Tank Engine.

  • The best part is the kid at 1:01 is disappointed they were all Conrail....

  • Pardon me oil-tanker horsepower coming through! Awesome vid

  • Must be one long ass train

  • WOW that great

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • NICE CATCH!!!!!!

  • CSX & Ns are thinking of making heritage units for Conrail Sadly they will be gevos thow

  • @WOWITsTRAINZ1995 If they're still only "thinking" of making heritage units then how do you know they will be GEVOs?

  • @nanshant Because ive been to both of the main buildings CSX Transportation in Jacksonvill Fl and Norfolk Southerns in Norfolk VA and there is a little Drawed out Picture in the main offices of what the Heritage units will look like and i can tell the r gevo's just by looking at the locomotive #s for locomotives will be CSX 1999 and NS 1999. hope this helped.

  • @nanshant Because ive been to both of the main buildings CSX Transportation in Jacksonville Fl and Norfolk Southerns in Norfolk VA and there is a little Drawled out Picture in the main offices of what the Heritage units will look like and i can tell the r gevo's just by looking at the locomotive #s for locomotives will be CSX 1999 and NS 1999. hope this helped.

  • @WOWITsTRAINZ1995 I think I'll wait for an official press release from NS or CSX to believe anything regarding a heritage unit or units.

  • @nanshant Fine by me i'm just telling you what i saw

  • @WOWITsTRAINZ1995 If u ask me i would think that CSX & NS should make the SD80MAC's into the Conrail Heritage units. And @ they r the only Railroad to have these monster of locomotives make even more rare and make NS & CSX change there minds about using GEVO's.

  • @nanshant y does it hav 10 engines?

  • @WOWITsTRAINZ1995 man conrail sucks...they couldnt make heritage units for erie lackawanna

  • @whitingguy Conrail Sucks aye. Dude Conrail Shaped this country Sence the 50's. If It wasn't For Conrail, The Horseshoe Curve Would'nt Be going today. [Histroy Lesson] Conrail Bought the Prr's Curve Subdivison because they was wanting to save the Curve. Because the Curve Was Gonna Be Torn Out Because of a Highway system wanting to go through. But NO! Conrail Saved it and the curve is now Norfolk Sotherns. RIP conrail And Fuck You Whitingguy!

  • @WOWITsTRAINZ1995 FUCK YOU SMARTASS...I MEAN DUMBASS...EVERY RAILFAN KNOWS CONRAIL WAS CREATED IN THE 1970'S

  • @WOWITsTRAINZ1995 AND WHATEVER ON THE CURVE THING I WILL PROVE IT

The Consolidated Rail Corporation, commonly known as Conrail (reporting mark CR), was the primary Class I railroad in the Northeast U.S. between 1976 and 1999

THERES YOUR ANSWER SMARTASS...IM ONLY 14 AND I KNEW THIS

  • @whitingguy no your 14 and Stupid as hell. im 15 and What i was talking about the curve was makeing a point over Conrail's Great Effort to stay alive. if it Wasn't for Conrail we wouldn't have the Curve. and ur the one going on how about conrail sucks or whatever . Dude u changed ur subject from dislikeing conrail to Know everything about it. ur just a know it all Smartass. Trying to make a comment that everyone would love. And Frankly i dont give a shit. so again i say RIP conrail And Fuck you

  • @WOWITsTRAINZ1995 due i know WAAAAY more than you...like tons more

  • @whitingguy i Dont talk to Smart ass sorry plz leave a message after the beep. (Beep) im sorry message box is full.

  • @whitingguy Ok. You are the smartest huh? How many inverters per axle does a GE C40-9W have and how many inverters total? What kind of pistons are in a GE C30-7 or a GE U23B? What is a "Throttle Jerker" stand? How many HP per ton does a 103 car unit grain train have with 4 engines and no DPU? You dont know so much now do you? Get over yourself. You are 14 and dont work for the railroad. Should I gloat cuz I know more than you? Im not that rude and Im mature. Act your age. Im 20 and I act mine.

  • @nsrailfann4life91 IM ACTING 14

  • NORFOLK SOUTHERN IS #1

  • Comment removed

  • @whitingguy Exactly. Why do you think I work for them? Right now I am at Conductor, but I hope to move to the other side of the cab here soon.

  • @nsrailfann4life91 come to whiting indiana.they have a yrad here.i know somebody on one of the local trains that runs outta there

  • @nsrailfann4life91 Since you work for them, could you possibly explain to me a little about how Norfolk Southern goes about things, such as employment and promotion to be an engineer. I want to work for them someday too. You can PM me if you want to, I'll be glad to hear from you. Thanks.

  • @whitingguy Not in 99. In 99, Norfolk Southern was baring it's ugly head and beginning to make it's mark on the roadmap as one of the best Class 1 railroads. Why cant you guys just get along. If you think Conrail, sucks, I have to agree with WOW, but everyone has their opinion. Many good videos are ruined because people have to argue. Take from me, who works for the railroad, it aint worth debating. Everyone thinks they know everything now days unfortunately. Cheers.

  • @WOWITsTRAINZ1995

If that turns out to be true then cool. Sure it will be the Evolution Series, but if Conrail was around there is 99.9% chance they would of have purchased them along with SD70ACe locomotives any way. Now if they add Leslies to those heritage engines that will be a surprise. Though let's wait and see.

  • @kmothersil Dude that would be awesome if they put leslies on there lol...

  • quanta locomotive train

  • 9 Conrail 1 LMS

  • TRIPOD!

Or brace camcorder on or against something.

Why so many engines? Deadheading some to another area?

  • RAILROADING: You're doing it right!

  • That right there is a true big blue!

  • rikkhlthkg

  • That's going to be a long train for 10 locomotives.

  • It's how you run a pig train at track speed whatever the grade may happen to be.

  • damn, thats a lot of blue

  • Nice video Nick, great spot right there

  • why so many locomotives?

  • eastern seaboard. all up and down the east coast

  • @DCFilmsStudio Conrail operated all over the eastern United States. Now Conrail only operates in New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Detroit.

  • @nanshant no they dont operate anywhere

  • @SkyhawkACE123 False. Look at their website. They operate in Detroit, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.

  • @nanshant They where slpit in 1999 by Norfolk Southern and CSX. Conrail is no longer, you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @SkyhawkACE123 They use NS and CSX equipment, yes, but the territories are still controlled by Conrail (not NS, CSX, or any other railroad's) dispatchers. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @nanshant Maybe the same dispatcher that use to work for Conrail, but they eather work for NS or CSX.

  • @SkyhawkACE123 Get your facts straight and come back to this argument when you do. If Conrail does not exist why is that the dispatchers are called "Conrail North Jersey" and "Conrail South Jersey"? Why is it that CSX and NS trains get Form-Ds from Conrail dispatchers in North and South Jersey instead of their respective EC-1s or Track Authorities? Why are there still Conrail local symbols running around (for example, WPSC-01 out of Stoney Creek)?

  • @nanshant They just kept the same name thats all. They have that by me too. In South Bend the trains called out "Conrail Bend Tower" even into the NS stage.

  • @SkyhawkACE123 Gee, and to think with are particular the railroads are about using proper names today that doesn't strike you as unusual? Conrail still exists, just not in the same form it did pre-1999.

  • @nanshant Same thing here in Michigan on Shared Assets..Conrail runs Livernois intermodal yard in Detroit,Conrail dispatches, does the track work and the locals have Conrail crews..We also have Form D's here for the Conrail Sterling Secondary..Anyone that says Conrail doesn't exist is a fucking idiot.

  • @CharlieX90 "The Consolidated Rail Corporation, commonly known as Conrail (reporting mark CR), was the primary Class I railroad in the Northeast U.S. between 1976 and 1999.........CSX and NS took control in August 1998, and on June 1, 1999, began operating their portions of Conrail."

  • @SkyhawkACE123 use to work for Conrail? Ever hear of Shared Assets??? Conrail still does Exist in Jersey and Detroit..How about you come to Detroit and walking into the yard office of CONRAIL RIVER ROUGE YARD or CONRAIL LIVERNOIS..Like nanshant said..get your fucking facts straight.

  • @CharlieX90 Yeah, and the detector my me still says conrail when a train hits it. its not that uncommon to still see signs conrail, but conrail was split back in may of 1999. you get your facts straight

  • Where i live, many TRAINS are shorter than the traction on this one!

  • Wow. 10 engines. Long train

  • Great video.

  • wonder what horn that is?

  • @shadowknight227 Nice out of tune Leslie RS3L. Typical Conrail horn.

  • @dasmikey1964 sounds good!

  • Wow 10 Conrail locomotives!!

  • Now these are the kind of trains I love I wished I lived close to a railroad that had thoes trains going through there.

  • lot of power!!!!

  • @rongenman

    and a lotta diesel fuel!

  • give me some sd40's.

  • So just how long was that freakin' train? 200 cars? 300?

  • Might not have been long at all, they were just tranfering the others units.

  • Loks like only the first 3 units are online anyways

  • M U CABLE'S BABY!

  • I'd like to know how they get them all to put out the same amount of power and how they get them all to respond to control inputs at the same time...

  • Haven't seen that around ohio in a while....

  • lots a power! :)

  • wow 10 high hp engine! must be pulling over 10K ton of coal hopper.

  • I saw atleast one L.M.S. locomotive in that lineup

  • what's LMS??? some kind of leasing company?

  • @rockguitarist946 LMS stands for Locomotive Management Services. You are correct in your questioning it is a leasing company formed by Conrail and General Electric in 1994. They spent the first 6 months of the year with Conrail during peak traffic and then were leased off to other railroads. Made up of a fleet of 60 C40-8W locomotives built by GE.

  • thanks

  • @rockguitarist946 It was a government ran company called Locomotive Management Systems which was split with NS & CSX when they took over Conrail.

  • so what happens with this power did cp end up with it or does anyone know???

  • it was split between CSX and NS. the last unit was sold by one of the 2 to IC (CN now)

  • I Miss Conrail!

  • WOW!!!! Awesome Vidoe, And Again 10 Engines Unbeleivable!

  • Only the first 3 or 4 were running.

  • they must be pulling 500 cars!

  • Conrail <3

  • It's a shame that conrail was bought out, I would work for them if they were still a major railroad company instead of CSX.

  • And NS is better with CR than CSX because CSX has painted a lot in YN3 while NS still has a lot in blue paint.

  • @theUPman100 That's mainly because NS got 58% of Conrail, and NS got 42%. Norfolk Southern started out with a much larger amount of Conrail equipment, so they have more left to repaint

  • i just had an orgasm!!

  • Wow!10 engines...

  • damn.... thats a lot of effin conrails for ya...

  • SWEET

  • at least the NS is considering heritage units

  • @rockguitarist946 whts a herritage unit?

  • @frankthetank961 Its when a railroad paints locomotives in the colors of railroads that it has purchased or in the previous paint schemes.

Id love to see NS paint SD80MACs in Conrail blue, or ES40Cs Erie Lackawanna paint. .

  • @rockguitarist946 If they are considering heritage units, then why aren't they using Southern or NW locos?

  • @benschlechter what do you mean?

  • @rockguitarist946 have they done any ?

  • @pruitt3507 the only norfolk southern heritage unit in existence is the GP59 in Southern paint. hopefully they do more

  • this is from before 1999

  • conrail is being less and less seen around here its always northfolk southern or CSX carring grain.

  • Awesome vid and sweet catch on the conrail loco's.

  • NICE

  • Why did it take 10 units to pull this one?

  • It is likely that only 2-3 of the locomotives were actually running but they used this train as a power move to transfer needed motive power to other yards.

    I miss Conrail blue.

  • very good too bad we don't see conrail much anymore

  • That was really cool. I have never really seen anything like that. I have never seen any CONRAIL before.

  • Whats the diff between the M and I? I've never heard of an SD60I.

  • An SD60i is pretty much the same as an SD60M. The SD60i was only ordered by Conrail, and every remaining unit is in the hands of either CSX or Norfolk Southern. The SD60M has the same horsepower, prime mover, etc... but the SD60i had an isolated cab to keep sound levels down. It was attached to the engine with rubber gaskets which minimized sounds. The SD60M first began with three windows, like the CN SD60Fs and SD40-2LWs. But most appear the same but have internal differences.

  • Comment removed

  • The SD60I had a "WhisperCab" variant featured a cab (with a full-width short hood) that was isolated from sound and vibration using a system of rubber gaskets. Only Conrail ordered this engine.

The SD60M featured a "North American safety cab" design with a full-width short hood. Early models featured a three-window design with vertical windows later production used two windshield panes that were sloped back, and a somewhat shorter nose.

  • SD60M i believe? Trying out my train knowledge here, so sorry if im wrong. Believe it's either SD60M or MAC.

  • You're correct, it's either an SD60M or SD60I.

  • yup i think its a SD60I

  • im an engineer for the ns in chicago started with conrail the most we can have online is 3 wide bodies or 2 high adhesion engines there is limits to the amount of axles you can have online

  • long live conrail

  • I would say that this is absolutely unnecessary; they could get by with half of the locos...

But where's the fun in that?

  • Sounded to me like the last 3-4 locos were idling. You are correct that they can get by, what this is is a power transfer. It's inevitable that there will be too many locomotives in one place and too few in another so they add them to a train going to the empty place. This is called a power transfer, they are quite common.

  • WOW great catch all blue conrail!

  • Sounds like a Leslie RS3L

  • lots of power

  • lots of conrail : )

  • My,alot of blue there. :)

  • Is this relevant to anything? Is the poor language necessary?

  • Pleasant.

  • Wow, thats the first time I've ever heard of a republican who actually cared about the enviornment!! Get a life bozo.

  • Oh, I can't do that.. You will do it. You will get a life now..... (hypnosis)

  • dude your an idiot!!!! just think of how many trucks this train is taking off the highway, that means less pollution, duh!!! Plus, you're just mad because your boyfriend left you!!!! (faggot)

  • whether you would admit it or not, trains are far better for the environment that you would think. trains take hundreds of trucks off the highways. also since you appear to care for the environment, i assume you like hybrids..which is exactly what locomotives are. you've obviously never seen the CSX commericials sayin trains (their trains in particular) use one gallon of diesel per 1 ton for every 420 miles. so, do the math, it aint that bad

  • That train alone likely took well over 100 trucks off the road. If you think of all the thousands of trains that play U.S rails, think of just how many trucks are taken off the roads by trains. Coal, or example, cannot be taken long distances at all by truck.

If you see a auto rack, and it has 18 cars on it, that would take 1.5 trucks per auto rack. Now if the train has 200 auto racks, that's nearly 300 trucks right there. More if there are trucks or vans on the train.

  • hug trees much?

  • a coal car holds more then 1.5 truck loads i see them all the time and they even heap em

  • WHERES TEH GRAFFITI?!!!

  • 5/5 great catch

  • a Train w/ 10 powered up Engines could haul enough cars to strech half way across the U.S. >8O

  • theres no need to have that much power!! unless its jus an enginemovement or something??? idk.......

  • Railroads only permit a maximum of 36 powered axels at the front of a train (six SD's), so the remaining locomotives have to be shut down (off line) in this video. They're probably being towed (dead-headed) to a new location where they're needed.

  • WAY cool!

  • Very cool! I had to watch it several times. 5*

  • how long was that train??!!!?

  • thats hellfire!!!, great footage 5/5

  • thats INFUCKINGSANE!!! Good catch!

  • a gevo inbound?

  • seen an engine in the conrail colors here in west virginia. sitting at a coal mines.

  • I remember sitting on the sink or out in the garden at my grandma's house near Leechburg, PA, right across the river, watching Conrail trains head northeast towards Vandergrift. For a single-rail line through a borough of a few hundred, it was pretty cool to see how busy it was.

  • makes you think about how long the goddman train was. whoever got stuck at that railroad crossing got screwed!

  • I wish that more people would use tripods?

  • Sorry. It was back in the day before we even knew too much about trains. It was taken more for our own viewing pleasure.

  • Lol i hope the conductor helped the engineer put all those brakes on.
