I saw this when it was first broadcast live on BBC2 in the UK in the early 70's, by pure chance.
I sat as a 19 year old and watched with my Dad, totally mesmerised.
This half hour changed my views on music forever. It broadened my views on what could be defined as music. It also means that I firmly believe that music as an evolutionary, organic process.
I don't think I can ever get into avant garde music but I will always look for something that pushes the boundaries
I never have seen this vid, but those days it was music 'for me'....music u needed to 'understand' in order to appreciate it. I think i was same age like u. And it changed my view on music forever as well. I thought I was the only one.....but its my guess u thought the same, those days :)
Bis heute absolut unvergleichlich und richtungweisend!!! 5 Sterne aus Deutschland... for you 5 stars from Germany!!!
In about the mid 70's here in Sydney was a concert series here in which Tangerine Dream in the original lineup was supposed to play 2 concerts the first concert was posponed, and the guys decided to play concerts 1 & 2 together, If I can remember properly the concert started at 9p and finished about 12 midnight, to this very day I have never seen a concert like it, it was truly something else. I am NOW 54.
full video lasts 28 minutes and is almost 300 MB big
by the way, their greatest stuff are bootleg recording from the concert in brussels university year 1976. it's called screaming insanity. if you can find it, just listen to froese's guitar. it will blow your mind to space!
It was claimed the sound from this Coventry concert was lost in a fire, but in fact it was just a really slow concert, so replaced by the then current album "Ricochet", which is part live but part (as heard here) studio. Play a genuine recording from the concert along with these (much slower moving) pictures and it suddenly makes sense...
Thanks for the explanation!!!I wondered what did they do here? But that makes sense. When I got the DVD I was expecting for the real sound and images and I just got disappointed with this item, but if you afirm that since that time they replaced it,that makes me feel no longer angst, since I thought was just a bogus bootleg. Thanks
There exists another recording on youtube of part 2. Synched play or not, imo it doesnt matter. Just watch Woodstock or some other 60s or 70s live recording and the sound isnt exactly in synch all the time. Different era different style imo.
This video was made by the BBC, live... But shown some 6-9 months later and the album's music was dubbed over the live recording! UGHHH. That's why the sound doesn't always match up.
There are a lot of myths around this recording. It was shown on the BBC in late 1975 but the video director was Tony Palmer (google him) working for Virgin. There exists a german TV interview with the Tangs, Tony Palmer, Richard Branson and the late John Peel made at about the same time.

Geniales. Cada vez que escucho este tema puedo viajar a las ruinas de Petra, o al interior de una pirámide o volar hasta la Luna.

Ricochet è stato uno dei miei primi LP.
Grande emozione a risentirla dopo oltre 30 anni.

Totally fake because Froese in that song play the Telecaster and the video show him play (double)mellotron

i wonder what song they were truly playing in this video? also the drums are not real

To be exact, Ricochet is a collage of several parts of live recordings made during 1975 in France (and Germany I think), then reworked in studio.
Anyway, one of the best records ever made.
