I was going to buy an LCD screen cleaner, but after seeing people say on even the best products that they supposedly create streaks and such, I may as well just use the cloth from a glasses case and a bit of saliva.
My mum invaded my room yesterday and cleaned it, including (it seems) my LCD TV with a cloth and water. Thanks. -_- No damage though, and any dots can be removed with spit..
Well usually i put a magnet on my Hard Drive (open case and pull it out to the open, but dont release cables) then wait like 5 minutes, if my desktop isnt clean, i add more magnets and put on it. wait 2 minutes.
If you have an aluminum iMac (2007 to mid 2009 models) you can use a window cleaner or whatever you want on it... IT'S A GLASS SHEET IN FRONT OF IT. XD
He recommends against using any form of alcohol, and yet most LCD cleaning solutions on the market contain some amount of alcohol, namely isopropyl alcohol.
i want that squeegee would be so good for my laptop and the 42 inch upstairs i hate when you are using a microfiber and it slips and you get an accidental fingerprint/handprint while cleaning
I'm kinda scared to clean my screen. You see I have a 46" LCD HDTV and I just got it and my niece finally got her wish and got fingerprints on it. They're not so bad when the TV is on (duh!) but I still want to keep the screen clean. Nothing of mine that was bought new is dirty for too long. I can see if it was second-hand or something but it's not. I keep my stuff clean baby!
A couple of days after I got my monitor my cat jumped on it and put a big scratch in it, so I got a paper towel, alcohol, and I haven't seen it since, which was like 2 years ago. I mean I have been looking for it, and can't find it for the life of me.
ohh damn i think i just ruined my new HD monitor i got a sorespot and like u say, its spread all over the screen... u have any recommendation to get rid of this??
@jxsilicon9 Stupid highest rated comments thing. I get a bunch of replies of something that I posted a YEAR ago. And I don't even get anymore subs from 38 thumbs up.
i hardly ever clean my screen, and when its comes to the time where i need to I just wipe the dust off with a tissue, and if i need to get something off a little bit of water with a tissue. I've never caused damage to my screen (that I know of).
hit me back.. drink the beer not the water. oh yeah well that was some good tip to clean your lcd but i think the best way to clean it is not to touch it
That's harder than you think, I've had my LCD for about three months and I've never touched it, but I turned off the screen and could hardly believe how dirty it was.
well homeslice i know u posiply feel the same way but the problem with our water is beacuase of technoligy but if geeks would figuer out a way to make computers from water or perhaps jus not use it we might have a planet for longer?
I had my screen for about 7 months and I always used a regular was cloth and it ALWAYS left marks. Then I went to the dollar store and bought a cheap micro fiber cloth. It was the best thing I ever used, it even works dry so I don't need to use any chemicals. My screen looks brand new now no dust, fingerprints, or marks. Please people use microfiber cloths, their cheap only $1.
Just Use an old Cotton T-Shirt and (Distilled Water if you can) but if you havent got any then just use Tap Water, It always works a Treat. As for all the people that talk about alcohol why dont you put some alcohol on some thin plastic and watch it destroy the surface
haha i just tried using boiled water and one of my sisters brand new leg waxing cloths and it worked. However looking at it from an angle I can see some spots but its not as bad as before and looking directly at the screen it looks cleaner.
just use a wet cleenex but remember to clean the water off with a dry cleenex in the other hand. Do this fast but VERY! gentle and there will be no finger prints or whatever you've placed on that screen xD
thanks Chris. I tried alcohol and a micro fiber cloth-ew, never again. The best was a micro fiber cloth dampened with bottled water. Also a tip for keyboards, dampened micro fiber cloth and a ever so slightly dampened toothbrush works great! E-ya Later. Thanks Chris!
im late but erm i use either monster screen cleaner or just usually a micro fiber cloth that comes with the samsung screens hehe cos I LOVE SAMSUNG THEY ARE THE BEST LCDS THEN SONY =D first i dust it though just to get any hard particles of the screen cos i might just rub it onto the screen and scratch it so yeah! swiffer duster then microfiber cloths that samsung provides!
I found this vid in trying to confirm the 50/50 water/vinegar solution, that I recall being recommended, to clean my monitor. Where my tap water is provided by my own well, water that is very hard, I'll be using distilled water. Much of the bottled drinking water contain minereals, so they too can leave spots as the water dries
when i got my LCD 19 inch screen it had a plastic cover on to protect it some parts were touching the screen itself after pulling it off it left finger like marks that i cant seem to remove :( and have i tried any ideas please anyone? (dickheads need not reply) thanks in advance
Yeah, I really think you're the one who needs to get a life since you use it on commenting on videos you waste your life on. But then again, where does that put me?
Someone should tell them that all those cleaners are water and Alchohol. They just say something vague so that people don't realize what they are buying. Really the water is the thing cleaning the screen, The Alchohol is just added to decrease the drying time. As long as you stick to around 70% isopopyl alcohol and make sure you mix it at no more then 50/50 with clean water(I use bottled water) then you will be fine.
If i sneeze over my screen and i get a nice chunk of goo stuck to it i just spit on it some more and rub it in with a steel wool pad untill the area looks great!
A little spit on a microfiber cloth.
