May all of your friends join me and come soothingly down upon you like pure raindrops. In harmony the collected vapors provide nourishment.
Gently is the love of special moments like this freely given. The trust of my heart is in your hands. The thrust of my loins you command. Wishful, beautiful and dreamy.
Happy, sappy, valentines day.
Happy V Day, my foreign, but near if I move, friend.
Damn girl...you went to work with this one. The background music blended in lovely with the theme. But seeing this work of art reminded me of a line from my "Ode to the Poet.." poem. It goes, "FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION, IS THE PEACE I HOLD DEAR LIKE MY HEART IN MY HAND MAKING ME FEEL ALIVE." So I take from this imagery that she does hold her heart in her hand for that aspect. When he see's it, along with her closed eye he is being shown her heart and pain is out in the open forced to see true agony.
What does that painting mean ? I felt the pic was of a woman and she had held her heart away from a man who was close by . Meaning she didnt him to have her heart as if she was afraid to get close to him ! Beautiful painting my sista . Keep up the good work . Later.
Thank you. The painting has more than one perspective. The one you had is one of them. You should read through the comments, because there are explainations throughout. It's easier than me re-typing it all.
lol... I'm fine. You're 1 of 2 people/artist who responded in this way. The other person actually sent me a Text asking me the very same thing & saying they found it disburbing. To be honest, I have no clue as to why that reaction, BUT, so far it's a rare one to my knowledge. Maybe there's more stirring within me than some have realized, but for me this isn't out of my boundaries in the slightest. I'd love to know what was the most shocking, the painting, or who did the painting?! I'm curious.
Oh, and for the longest wanted to ask you whether you always listen to music while working on your pieces. Is it shuffled playlists or do you have a particular genre that gets you going? Just wonderin'...ya know!? :)
So far this is the only painting I've done on video while listening to music. Typically I paint in complete silence, but on the rare occassion I'm in the mood to paint (kick back) with music, it's easier to name what I don't listen to rather than what I do. I don't listen to pop music. No beyonce, britney, ciara and so forth, or most rap, unless it's conscious...like mos def, talib etc. I don't listen to much new R&B, but some neosoul is fine. no house/tech unless it's bjork-ish! -while painting
I like moody, alternative soul / rock, poetic lyrics & melodies. Even Beethoven, some Reggae, Cinematic Orchestra. If it's upbeat it has to be something like Bjork or in a way that doesn't throw my energy. I have a "mix" I created on itunes that I keep shuffled. It depends. I uncheck songs (so they don't play) that don't fit the vibe I'm in for the painting. Like with this painting I unchecked all songs by ne-yo, gerald levert & others, all of which I love but it would've thrown me out my trance
By the way, if I do listen to any pop it has to be like Beyonce's "Halo" or "Speechless" or etc. Nothing booty poppin or too bubble gum. I would however listen to that or even Lady GaGa type stuff, if it went with something I painted and didn't throw me out my trance state. I'm not opposed to it, but it's not my normal, and definitely not my normal if I'm planning to paint later or in the case of this piece, when I'm currently painting. I prefer music that keeps me in a deep state, if any music
Love the play concept and how you bring it out. Feeling the heart in the hand & bruises on them!
Like with nearly all of your work, the viewer never knows in advance where you're taking us. Saw the two heads on the top right corner and kept wondering what was coming down below...little did I know you'd use such symbolism!
Thank you akiey. It was interesting when you used the term "bruises"...much of the look comes from the "play" concept. Like toys / rag dolls / and so forth. The look of being somewhat naturally beaten up and yet still showing the blissful adoration, in combination, is to show that complex dynamic of a relationship. Also there's much to be said about the dual perspectives and why the male is painted in such a way. Almost obliviously sadistic by nature. Perhaps, penetrating vs being penetrated.
I think of playing as something that's very innocent and carefree...like children playing a game, but you can also play games with someone's heart. To me, this painting captures many of the aspects of a relationship: the joy and the pain. I love it.
One eye opened and One eye closed and a heart exposed braced neckscool and not hot four leaf clover swastikas make you feel apprehensively lucky to grab the lever for the jackpot... I love it when stuff comes at night in a dream... I love your work! And you always choose music that compliments what you've done... Kudos... Big Time!!!. Always, Ty...
:D that standing-O really made me smile. Indeed, this painting is about a complex relationship. There's so much that could be said in regards to what sub-topics under relationships, philosophies and etc that it covers, but to add insight, the painting shows two different perspectives, yet interconnected. There is adoration, ignorant bliss, sexuality, accidental heartbreaks, and the way we "play". man and woman, somewhat inheritedly masochistic and sadistic by nature. So much more could be said.
I love the fact that the eye on her that is patched up, is blocking his eye. They are half blind, maybe by circumstance, but see life and love in one dimension.
This painting is rather deep. Shoot, all of yours is which is why I love your gift. And the music you pick is superb. I could watch, listen, and write a thousand book off of this canvas.
Hey Ladessa once again you have manage to out do your self! And the song was pterfect, who sings it? I would like that on my ipod. Do you sell your artwork? I would love to own one of your paintings. Or even a Giclee print will do. I blogged about you in one of my past blogs about how your works have inspired me as a painter. Keep up the good work .
I keep trying to reply to you "theRichAnt" but it wouldn't post. Once again another youtube issue. If this happens to post, THANK YOU SIS! I will message you the other comment regarding your questions.
My initial reaction, from the first shuttered eye, was opposites attrack ...as his opposite seeing eye (his left as opposed to her right) was being painted I was floored with that thought. Like the perfect pairings of dreams. Introvert hooks up with extrovert, scars of life and all, and together they form a one-two-one combination. The halo effect (my description) really sets a joyful mood and matches the given title.
Greatness! your characters are really getting defined! details and shading are georgous in this one!!! sweet painting overall!!! keep at these timelapse vids they are great to watch!
"and she holds their heart and his head up it seems."
This piece has several ways it can be perceived, by design. The way you described above is one.. Another is she has no arms, and his arm is penetrating her and holding her heart. ;)
I love reading your comments sis! You really brought a lot of things to my attention, and a lot of relevant perspectives. Wow, You're like the most supportive sister ever created. lol. I love you. I was blown away by how much this one touched you, and humbled by it.
I LOVE how there are two eyes but each one has only one each! That's beautiful! They see the same things but they have not always looked at life with both sets of eyes which is how they got beaten down by it.
oh and this song! I love this song! Who sings it!?
SIS YOU HAVE OUT DONE YOURSELF WITH THIS ONE! YOUR PURE GENIUS AND I AM PROUD TO BE RELATED TO SUCH! AMAZING WORK!!!! NO PUN INTENDED WITH THE SONG! LOL YOU TRULY ARE! STAND IN IT BECAUSE ITS TRUE!
(continued..) Yet they are still one in the end. Just now together after experiencing life without each other. Second interrp. puts the title in play, like a game of "baseball", beaten down by the "bat" of life. The emerge damaged from each other but yet still representing one 'ball" in the process. Their experiences are different but definitely both unpleasant. The game they play is called "love" or "life". Hope that makes sense! lol
Okay long comment here it comes! lol I literally cried when watching this. First let me explain why. It reminds me of 'my soulmate" and I. Just worn down and beaten by love and life yet so connected still. With that being said..first interrp was them both emerging from the same, both worn down and beaten down. Her lead in life by her heart got her torn down, and him led in life by his penis got him torn down, (continue...)
Just dropping a line to say hi!! Keep up the good work!
