  • I knew it! He engineers his designs with laz0rs & avid technology! Cray-Cray Dr.Lang.

    Respect~

  • I started origami when I was 6. \/\/()\/\/

  • Holy crap, after listening to some of mr. Lang's (or is it dr.?) story, I realized something. He's me from the future o.o

    I knew I'd invent a time machine.

  • The best origami I've ever seen thank you Robert you and Sara have inspired me to do origami again

  • ur crap

  • @LFCTV2 its not! its amazing you dobblespluffagin (a weird word i made up)

  • 4:12 ---------))((

  • 1:12 :o

  • grr, no one should be able to turn paper into such things! now paper taunts me because i cant do anything nearly as good as him!

  • you are f!@%*? if there a flood

  • Lmao who quits a job to focus on paper folding?!?! I can't lie, that hummingbird is incredible, excellent work^^

  • He's good.. But he's such a fag.

  • @crazybisuit3, sHut the hell up...

  • @crazybisuit3 hows he a fag? just cuz hes awesome at origami and you're not????

  • ur modelss are hard but i know how to make your swan and love it

  • i was 6 when i started origami!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the bird with the flower

  • To Robert J. Lang:

I really like your models and they should be displayed :))) i once made your valentine model and it came out perfect!!! :)))

  • @zogiva

I dont agree those stuff you said to Dr. Lang. Even though his work maybe complex he's still an origamist and so is John Montroll. I say that you should not criticize people and their work because i can tell that youre going through discrimation so since im on my bad side youre the one whose being a motherf*cker

  • I love origami

  • I think I read in a book in my childhood that gift wrap paper is the ideal material for origami.

  • OMFG THIS IS A ART MUESEUM OF HISTORY!!!lol

  • Ur oragamis are very cool and I was amazed when I saw some of ur creations they really did amaze me and I am tryin to make most of them that I can find

  • You love nature and you love wildlife but you're cutting trees to make these?

  • Loved the book.

    Read it as a child.

    Used it and it's skills,

To bolster my drafting of engines later in life.

    Thanks.

  • Sir,

i tried treehopper and stuck with step 15-16.

could you please help me as i am your fan and want to follow you ?

  • the soundtrack is loud enough that you can't really hear the artist's comments. (also some better lighting would have showcased the pieces much better)

lighting and installation are crucial to displaying art!

  • Im studying electrical engineering! i sure hope I can do this when I get my degree! lol

  • being capable of mind-plotting such overwhelmingly complex shapes out of a sheet of paper requires mental abilities i can only dream of....

  • are there any instructions how to make the colibri with the flowers??=)

  • @zogiva

Robert lang's models might be challenging but he's not a moron. I agree that john montroll is very skilled, but so is Robert Lang. I don't know if you know this but they both worked together on the book Origami Sea life, so therefore they are both equals

  • Well if you lack the ability to fold them then you are the lame not him. His diagrams are not for the mentally challenged. He also does have like 100 times more complex subjects and models than montroll. Sorry, but you simply suck ass. Maybe if you had some proper education and you wouldn't wanna fold 3 step ships anymore, you would find his models interesting. But that is not really possible i know.

  • id give all my stuff to understand that math!

  • nice

  • so you're saying you could fold these things if you could print the cp? good one.

  • @firekharma , define art. Lots of modern art is created with technology now, it's just another technique, and he programs the computers and machines himself with software he wrote himself. He's just using different tools to his predecessors

  • Completely fabulous! His talk at TED is enlightening for those fascinated by origami or enthusiasts alike. Really brilliant work. Thank you Robert Lang!

  • Wowzers! Speechless

  • i love his oriagami look so realistic......the reason i love to do origami is because i want to turn a boring piece of paper to something interesting and realistic. I wish i could be as skilled as him...

  • 321098aj

the computer doesnt make instructions,it makes a crease pattern.that a sheet of paper where all folds are drawn on,so robert only needs to fold in the right order and the right direction(what still is alot of work)

    his works are just amazing

  • Do you know the name of the program he uses?

  • Comment removed

  • Video won't load for me, but I know he uses "Treemaker" which he also happens to have written.

    Go to his website

  • @nils3881991 Not to mention that only produces the base for the figure he is creating. The base has the basic shape of the animal, and flaps for each appendage, but he must then shape the base into the detailed forms.

  • @gamemeister27

Well someone owns one of his books =P

  • @nils3881991 He has books!? Must buy......I just watched his TED lecture.

  • dude those origami must have taken enormous pieces of paper

  • brilliant!

  • so hes not realy doing oragami hes making 3d vigures in his comuter and then the comuter rites instructions on the paper and he just follows it, much like tracing

  • sort of but its not that easy.the "instructions" you speak of are generally solid lines and you have to figure out wich way they go etc.its not that he doesnt know to design without computer its just that he canm design faster.and the nthing with him doing it on computer, he created it so he had to of had massive knowledge on origami as it was.
