The stupiest part was the crew guy who acts like a lunatic. That's what stands out as being corny about this movie, but the rest of the movie was decent, except as others have said, the end came too quickly, which axed Sergio and the greetings they recieved. Also I could do without the beginning and end with John Malkovich.

Overall it was a good movie but some things they could have done better. After 70 days, Ethan Hawke only had a peach fuzz gotea? @Herreken Cannessa's actor resembled somewhat of the real Canessa, but Nando, not a bit. The real Nando Parrada was a very tall figure, a brute of a man compared to this little guy Ethan Hawke. In this movie, Nando appears as a runt, which is totally wrong. And yes, the real Nando had quite a bit of growth/beard upon rescue. The treking scene should of been a big part of this movie, but it was absent. A two part mini series would of been better.
By far the worst thing about the movie is the complete lack of respect for the real hero Sergio, which if not for him, they may very well have died. He traveled 10 hours by horseback to retieve help, plus he gave them bread and cheese before he left. If you notice in most of the documentaries and clips of various sources, he is almost invisable in all of this. What is even more sad, it appears he was not compensated like the others who are obviously doing very well.
The acting wasn't par for the course,...but it wasn't horrible either. The worst part of this movie was ignoring Sergio Catalan, the man who first spotted Nando and Canessa. No one may have survived if not for him. This film ignores him.

We followed it on tv with such amazement that those boys could have managed to survive all that time & more than a little 'creeped out' r/e the whole 'anthropophagy' thing but even at age 9 somehow I 'got it' r/e how & why they did it. As to the movie, I DID really enjoy it, 'weak' acting & all.

The acting in this movie really wasn't the best. The movie itself was considerably accurate to the story and a good film but they got everyone wrong. Being personally connected to the story myself, none of the real people acted in the way that the actors portrayed them in the film. NONE.

@estupido7490: Sorry if came off 'argumentative'. These A.crash survivors got 'a special place in my heart' I guess. I was 9 when it occurred & STILL remember all the publicity here in the U.S.! We followed it on tv with such amazement that those boys could have managed to survive all that time & more than a little 'creeped out' r/e the whole 'anthropophagy' thing but even at age 9 somehow I 'got it' r/e how & why they did it. As to the movie, I DID really enjoy it, 'weak' acting & all.

@estupido7490: Read the book MANY years ago though. When you think about it, wouldn't it be INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to get every single characters details & dialogue exactly right? I agree, the descrepancy r/e Zerbino's character is quite a BIG one. I would like to re-read the book btw but would think It'd be hard to find but maybe not what with all the recent publicity & comparison to the Chilean miners & all. Don't get that one tho':) Really how can you even compare the A. crash with the miners?!

Often times it's the bad script that makes it very hard to portray good acting. Still, even through that, the actor could have been better in that scene.

Wow. You really picked a hell of a movie to 'make fun of' when there are so many TRULY BAD FILMS out there to choose from. Have a little respect. Not to mention if you simply watch this short clip, it may seem lame but in the context of the entire story, it doesn't. He actually played what the characters emotion truly would have been. Pick on somebody else. Posting this & criticizing the actor in ANY scene from THIS movie is simply BEYOND TACKY.

The reason this movie didn't have the greatest acting was because the script wasn't that great, think about how hard it is for these young actors to portray what has happened to these people. It's almost impossible.

The reason he's so emotional is that he's hungry. He should just eat that lady's corpse and he'll be happy she was there to provide some meat. Everyone wins. Besides, if she was so hysterical on the plane could you imagine what she'd be like on the ground? Who needs to put up with that? The acting in this movie really wasn't the best. The movie itself was considerably accurate to the story and a good film but they got everyone wrong. Being personally connected to the story myself, none of the real people acted in the way that the actors portrayed them in the film. NONE.

@estupido7490 That's REAL 'interesting' since Nando Parrado was ON SITE as a historical advisor for the film & said, "Doesn't matter that they are NOT Uruguan, they are NOT at all different from us". Nando Parrado was on this set EVERY DAY advising not only Ethan Hawke but EVERY one of these actors on how to 'play' their particular character. I suppose Nando 'got it wrong' as you say too right? If HE didn't get the 'people' or 'the story' right, considering he LIVED IT for 72 days, who WOULD?
